  1. You don't sit the #7 overall pick for multiple seasons. Complete waste of valuable draft capital. If you think a QB needs 2+ seasons to be ready, you don't take them that high.
  2. Me as well. I didn't hate the CMC pick, I thought we could have traded back and still got him. The only way I wanted to stay at #8 (ironic draft slot, right?) was if Thomas or Fournette fell. Neither did. I figured OJ Howard or CMC would be there if we traded back. Howard fell to the Bucs mid-round. Would CMC have lasted several picks later if we traded back? Again, I didn't hate the CMC pick, simply thought it was a bit rich at #8. This was the draft year when I began going hard core for a starting caliber TE to compliment and eventually replace Greg Olsen, not to mention the subsequent drafts. What a obvious, glaring oversight by the team brass.
  3. Teddy will start the season folks. Trading for a veteran upgrade is straight up mortgaging the future and even if we draft a rookie, they aren't starting the first game if Teddy is completely healthy.
  4. We think a LOT alike. Exactly the same here. I was at a draft party the year we took TD. I told everyone that we are going to take the safety out of Georgia with our pick and people were like a SAFETY, really? Yep, admittedly wrong on Cam, Luke and CMC too. But right on most first rounders, including KB and Butler being busts; obviously not the guys I wanted.
  5. Who would that be? With all the uncertainty of grooming a young QB, teams with even average starters aren't going to send some sweetheart package for an unknown commodity. That's the reason the Stafford-Goff trade was so eye-popping. Two guys that are known commodities in the League. I don't buy it for one second. Maybe if the Jags somehow were shopping the #1 pick ( for Trevor) I could see someone packaging something ridiculous, but not for any of the other three.
  6. It all hinges on the Jets at #2. Nobody is trading up that high and if the Jets actually do trade back, they obviously have made their choice sticking with Darnold. You don't defer on the remaining pick of the litter if you are serious about getting the best one. If the Jets roll with Darnold at bare minimum, one of the remaining 3 QBs will be there at #8. Now, will it be the Panthers preferred guy? Who knows? I know which of the three I want.
  7. And exactly what is that? Dude can make every throw. What offense wouldn't that be a perfect fit for? I'm not exactly sure what you mean by our scheme. I mean, he can hit a check down pass...that was the bulk of our 'scheme' last year
  8. If the Jets stick with Darnold (50/50 proposition) and nobody trades up (still not buying the Falcons are moving on from Ryan) we could be sitting there at #8 with Wilson, Fields and Lance as options. Yes, I still draft Lance.
  9. San Francisco and Denver are the only two that come to mind unless someone comes from way back in the pack. While both of those teams have "iffy" QB situations, they are not dire situations. Both of those teams could just as likely go into 2021 with their current guy.
  10. I can think of 31, well 30, other scenarios first. Cam ain't backing up Winston....anywhere. Dude is waaaayyyyy to prideful. He knows he's better than Jameis and won't take a back seat to him.
  11. To the "But the Lions are going to draft our QB!!!!", crowd. You can officially chill the heck out and pour an ice cold bucket of water over your heads.
  12. I'm pretty sure a trade is a trade and it hits the cap when it occurs. I don't think you can defer a cap hit from a trade to a later date than when it actually occurs. But yes, trading a player before June 1 and after June 1 can make a huge difference. The Lions save an extra $6M against the cap if they wait and trade Stafford after June1 for example.
  13. I don't think anyone really has pegged his round yet. I've seen early 4th all the way to UDFA. I'm figuring 4th or 5th depending on the Senior Bowl and his Pro day. He seems to play fast, but you know teams like to see prospects in isolated drills and get quantifiable measurements/times. Around the 4th and 5th rounds is range where I'm looking for C/G/ILB/TE. Fisher would be a nice get somewhere in there.
  14. Dude is a tackling machine. I've been mocking him some. He has the size and production, I want to know how he is as an athlete and most importantly, his 40 time. You know Combine stuff.
  15. Hey guys, FYI, there is a draft sub-forum. Not being snotty, just these threads will get pushed off the front page quickly in the main forum. The benefit to the draft sub-forum is most of us draft buffs will gladly discuss these type of things with you. I like Basham too, but our needs in the second round are greater than DL. Only as a value pick if he slid to the 3rd round.
  16. Technically he was the backup, but because Wentz got hurt Foles got the start the remainder of the season. Kind of a catch 22 there, but generally starters worth their salt start with at a least one first round price tag and only get more expensive the better they are. Remember, Philly chose to keep Wentz over Foles and Nick needed to be dealt,so they weren't going to get overly rich in their demands. While his trade price wasn't crazy, look at what he demanded once he got to the Jags and look where the Jags are now. Foles massive failure is giving the Jags Trevor Lawrence.
  17. Stafford ain't coming to Carolina unless the front office can somehow convince him we are further along in this rebuild that everyone else can plainly see. Stafford has said he's not interested in being part of a rebuild. We are just in year two, so yes, we are STILL rebuilding.
  18. Only if we trade back, but not at #8. Dude, you have no idea how long I've been barking up the TE tree. This year though, our priorities are elsewhere. If our guy isn't there at #8 and we move back several spots...I'm game.
  19. Here's the thing, people are so obsessed with QBs they are apparently a scarcity. Trades and FA be damned! Yes, a LOT of QBs will be in different uniforms next season and a few that look like dumpster fire soap operas right now will be going nowhere. It's the week leading up to the Super Bowl and 30 other teams are trying to figure out what went wrong. Most of those organizations are looking at the HC and/or the QB. So yes, just about every team is up for a new QB, especially those on the outside of the playoffs. 'You need a QB, you need a QB and your need a QB...EVERYONE needs a QB!' I'm all for a BPA at #8 and that will be no less than Smith, Sewell, Surtain OR a QB. Anything else makes zero sense.
  20. I'm not sure we have to part ways with anything, because I don't think every team ahead of us is taking a QB. Sorry to be so curt on your diatribe.
  21. I have him barely edging out Lance for the #2 guy based solely on who is ready to play today. Long-term, Lance will be the second best QB in this class.
  22. Crazy how he kept getting hurt in practice, right?
