  1. The model isn't broken, it's who made the call for it to happen. Did Fetterer do this on his own or did Rhule say make it happen? HCs don't draw up contracts. Again, who was the point man in saying: 'lock Robbie up before he hits FA after the season?' Was it Rhule or was it Fitterer? I will eat crow if you can prove that Fitts did this largely on his own and Rhule wasn't the driving force behind Robbie staying in Carolina.
  2. Watched the entire video and he didn't actually praise Robbie until the very last question. He repeated it that is was Robbie's time based on which of our WRs was next up for a new/extended contract--at least 4 times through multiple questions. It was about process. He made that abundantly clear.
  3. I bet he does. He seems like a smart dude that has the CYA receipts. Remember, until this past offseason, Rhule had 100% control over the roster. He reluctantly gave up some of that control and hired coaches outside of his neighborhood (Baylor/Temple) as a means to keep his job after meeting with Tepper regarding his future.
  4. But almost $10 million in dead cap is significant. Essentially $1.3M in cap relief...pennies in NFL money, but just getting him off the team is worth it.
  5. Fitterer drew up the contract, but who really wanted Robbie to get paid? C'mon man. You know that answer. Just like Hurney left us some wonderful parting gifts after he was canned, we are unfortunately going to have to deal with some Rhule's 'leftovers' for the rest of this season and next. Luckily, he got reigned in last offseason and he got canned before any extensions got signed this season.
  6. With a bad attitude, Rhule's 'Temple incentivized' contract and lack of performance, dude is going to be HARD to trade.
  7. Assembling a list of names is about all they can do now. It's too early in the season.
  8. Poorly worded by Dave. I am not a fan of Tepper, but if Wilks does a crappy job, why would he be considered? Just to satisfy the Rooney rule? Isn't that what Wilks suit is really about? He should have worded inthe affirmative such as: 'if Steve Wilks does an outstanding job in the interim, he would ABSOLUTELY be considered for the full time position.' Says the same thing, but sounds much better.
  9. Maybe he's evolved, but I didn't think Dorsey was particularly effective with Cam. Cam never fixed any of his bad habits with Dorsey as his QB coach.
  10. Yep, other teams can't snatch a HC, but blocking OCs from getting a HC job is just a prick move. DCs are a dime a dozen and easier to replace than an effective OC. That's why we need to to hire an offensive minded HC. Reid, McVey, Peyton are all examples of that. Even Daboll in New York now.
  11. 1) Not on a Power 5 conference team (Sunbelt conference) 2) Team is not ranked (would have been had they not lost Saturday) 3) Doesn't have a rocket for an arm (but he can make every throw) 4) Small school that doesn't have a long, storied history in FBS football and thus greatly lacks national TV time. Heck until they upset BYU I don't anyone outside of the Carolinas had even heard of Coastal Carolina. I'm cool with it. I DO NOT WANT the #1 overall pick. Young will stay hurt and Stroud I'm not sold on...yet. We need more picks; a trade back is necessary.
  12. PJ isn't a passing threat, BUT at least take a FEW shots to try to keep the defense honest. There was nothing of a downfield game and time wore on, the more obvious it was to the Rams we were SCARED to pass the ball deep. At that point they just keyed in on the screen game without fear of getting beat over the top. Heck, it about got CMC killed.
  13. Remember James Morgan that was on our practice squad a year or two ago? I think he's a FA. If PJ is going to miss time, we might want to sign the guy.
  14. Play action pass works wonders, especially when we were running the ball effectively before the Rams figured out we had ZERO intention of throwing downfield.
  15. Macadoo don't know when he's gone to the well too many times Did he think he could run screens all game before the Rams adjusted?
  16. Rhule's next career and the mantra for his sells team. ]
  17. I wouldn't trade for the sake of trading unless the haul is just too good to turn down. CMC stays unless the offer is just ridiculously good. Moore is in the same boat as CMC. Burns, I'm 50/50 on. He's still a liability in the run game and I say he's still better suited in a 3-4 scheme as a OLB. Plus he's coming up on a massive payday. Robbie Anderson I would definitely trade, but his contract makes it nearly impossible. Shaq I would trade too, but I don't see anyone clamoring for him and our LB depth sucks (thanks Snow).
  18. I still can't believe there were a few people defending Rhule all the up to that 49ers game. I'm not sure if they were just homers that don't like people in this organization bad-mouthed or if they really thought Rhule was a decent coach. Either way, it was painfully obvious to the other 99% of the Huddle that Rhule was a joke. Dude would crush it on a used car lot!
  19. Broken bone in his hands and that Detroit defense was not anything close to the Rams D we are seeing today. If the Panthers win today, our defense is going to have to play lights out, our running game needs to be clicking on all cylinders, special teams needs to be flawless and PJ needs to be close to 50% on 3rd down passes with no picks on the day. If ALLLLLL that happens, we have a chance to beat the Rams.
  20. McCall did his thing again even in a loss. I mean, 3 passing TDs 358 yards, 0 picks and a 76% completion rate in a loss is pretty dang good. CCU had a sieve in their rushing defense...they gave up as many rushing yards as McCall had passing! Yes, passing yards get inflated when trailing big in a game, but usually the completion rate suffers and INTs happen. Neither occurred in this instance which is a very good indicator that he doesn't panic and is cool under pressure in the face of adversity.
  21. Scrolled through 5 pages and the obvious couldn't fell out of the sky and hit you guys square in the forehead. The #1 likely isn't a QB, the #1 overall pick is likely a player that plays the same position as Burns.
  22. If we miss out on the top 3 QBs, as people who go to the draft thread know, I'm on the McCall bandwagon. Not a cannon for an arm, but good enough and the kid is SMART. He doesn't make too many bad reads. He's mobile enough to run RPO concepts at CCU. Even the GOAT Tom Brady wasn't elite physically, but cerebral as there is in the NFL. No, I'm not comparing McCall to Brady, just saying I'll take a 'good enough' athlete at QB that 'gets it' over a stud athlete QB that can't make it to his second read.
