Posted in another thread, but RB and TE are a need. I wish a WR, but the pickings are EXTREMELY slim.
-
Take out Watson's carries and yes, about half. He was the force. True bell cow RBs are a thing of the past. Even solid RB 1's yield significant time to back ups for--what the NBA likes to say "load management."
-
Like the Browns did with Nick Chubb.
-
I think we cut Blackshear and put him on the PS (assuming he clears waivers; 99.9% sure he will) and give a veteran a shot given he's healthy and can pass a physical. Fournette, Ingram and Bernard would be instant upgrades as inside the tackle runners. There's more to the list, I just look a snippet. At this point, and given the how the RB market sucks, we could get veteran help CHEAP.
-
Neither guys are true 'up the gut' type of runners. Supposedly Chuba put on weight this offseason to help pound the rock between the tackles. However, lacking weight was/is not his issue. He lacks vision and decisiveness, both are key to be an effective runner in the trenches.
-
True, but I thought fans wanted to get rid of Fox/Rivera "old school" football? I'm down with whatever wins us games, new school or old school, it doesn't matter to me.
-
This is EXACTLY why you don't break the bank for a single player. Burns.
-
Chuba got the better holes from the OL, that's for certain. Luck of the draw, I guess. Heck, his 21 yard run a compact SUV could have driven though that lane. Sanders got the bulk of the first down runs which are always a rough go. The defense is banking on first down runs.

What magic can we pull to find a receiver?

TMJ had two catches on SIX targets. That sucks! -
Most of our key skill players were playing with some sort of nagging injury. I think they will get better if they can fully heal up. However, that does not resolve the fact that we were exposed for lacking a deep passing game and short yardage rushing attack.

Trading for CJ Henderson is Fitts most egregious error. However, Rhule did say that he loved CJ coming out of college, so I'm not sure who put the wheels in motion for that trade, but obviously Fitts negotiated the package, which was too much for a guy who had bust written all over him.
-
If Fitts is serious about continuously looking to upgrade this roster, he needs to, right now, sign a short yardage RB and compliment to Hurst. We have the roster spots. Wooten was elevated for game day, so we essentially have two available roster spots. I get the WR aspect, and actually that is priority #1, but there is nothing out there really worth signing.

The word on him is raw, but with a lot of potential. They could have gave him some limited plays, but I guess the staff thought it was a bit too soon. I imagine he will see a few offensive snaps next week. -
The first INT wasn't horrible, Bates is a great safety with quick breaking skills. One step later for Jesse, that would have been a completion or at least not an INT. The second one though, that was a bad throw by Bryce. Same spot, same defender in the area and led the receiver too much.

If were are going forward with this group, they need to serious work with Shenault on his routes and hands. He can get open and is a force once the ball is in his hands, but he's not a comfortable 'hands' catcher and to my knowledge isn't the most polished route runner. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he only has limited route tree capabilities. My stock on TMJ is at an all-time low. Considering I was never high on him in the first place, that's saying something. -
I used to say the Redskins as that was the team I pulled for before the Panthers came into existence. They were in decline already when the Panthers started playing, but once the Cooke family sold to Daniel Snyder, I lost interest quickly. It only took a few seasons to write them off completely after seeing what an incompetent owner little Danny boy was becoming. Wheeew boy, what a train wreck that eventually became!!!

Mingo still has to develop, Thielen is a stop-gap and Shenault is a gimmick guy. The problem is the dude who should be hitting his prime...stinks, TMJ. There is no other way to put it. A handful of games a season he will display some glimmer of an up and coming WR, but otherwise is a non-factor. Another Rhule pick I didn't agree with. This staff has really got it's work cut out for them to be competitive with Matt's leftovers. -
Burns should take the high road, play out his contract and tell the Panthers he wants to hit FA in the offseason. Some of these monster contracts are coming back to bite teams in the arse. Burns deserves to get paid more, but if the Panthers are balking considering how they feel about Brian, you have to think Burns' camp is asking for the moon.

If we are looking a street FAs at this point, I'd take a swing a RB and TE. There are some decent ones still unsigned. As far as WRs, the only way to upgrade is to trade. It bare out there. Yes, some old, washed up, former stars are available, but the washed up part should be a sign to stay away. 1) Sign a bruiser RB 2) Sign a TE 3) If feasible, trade for a WR. -
The same with TEs, there are better guys sitting on their couch right now than Ian Thomas and Tremble.
-
Go out and sign a guy like Fournette to a reasonable 1-year deal. At least there are decent RBs still out there. I looked at the FA WRs and woof, the cabinet is bare.
-
Hurst played well and the secondary. That's it. The OL played decent and our pass rush was effective early on. Outside of that, it's a matter of what group's sucky play was not as as bad as the others.

Dude, if Rhule got to at least dip his toes into year 3 after that train wreck, Reich should at least be afforded the same grace.
