You know something is wrong with ownership when the only owner lower on the list is the Jet's Woody Johnson.

Again, I wouldn't be mad at all with this pick. Sanders, I think, will become a solid TE2, but not a TE1. We have to get out of the mindset that players that are 'X'1 on the Panthers means that they are really good. We have to compare them to other teams in the League and if our position 'X'1 is most teams 'X'2 then we still need to look for upgrades. So Sanders being penciled in as our TE1 doesn't mean he's your prototypical NFL TE1. That's why I would be okay with drafting Warren even though it may considered a slight reach at #8. Tremble has proven to be no more than a TE3, so yes, there's room for improvement. The rest of the TEs we currently have are camp bodies.

I've been screaming about a day 1 or day 2 TE for YEARS! So obviously I'm okay with this. If we were only better off defensively and we weren't in the top 10, I would LOVE this possibility.

But we need to go all defense in the draft? Just because we have swung and missed on WRs in the past doesn't mean we just give up on drafting WRs. Agree we need to go defense heavy, but there needs to be a WR drafted and maybe even a TE. Keep his targets the same as last year, Bryce could see a step backwards.

@MHS831, lucky for you when I run my mocks Will Johnson is usually the top guy (not named Jeanty) left standing at #8. I'm not crazy about drafting another guy coming off an injury even if it is a need position. Apparently it's a chronic turf toe issue. Isn't that an injury that lingers forever? I mean, it put him out most of last season.

So our IR list is not going to read like a novel after 3 games anymore?

Some team(s) will pull the trigger in the second round. There's several teams reluctantly returning their starters this year. So I can see one or two of them drafting Dart and/or Ewers in the second round and sitting them a year. The Saints, Steelers, Seahawks and Browns come to mind. Based off talent though, yes, the 3rd round is where the value of QB3 is this draft.

Which part, the boner for RAS scores or the trying to sneak out of the bedroom at day break becasue your drunken model transformed into Medusa by morning?

Edge is the only position that we have to get early. DL, ILB and S can be had later on, no issues there. As discussed, CB seems thin this draft, but a mid-round flier is certainly in play. IOL can always be found later in the draft. WRs and TEs, on the other hand, gets much more dicey the later you wait.

True, but it's a different dynamic this go around. Last year the drop off was after QB6, this year it's after QB2. So once the Falcons unexpectedly took Penix at #8 (being injured) that left only two options for starters with two teams needing starting QBs. It lined up almost too perfectly. The Vikings and Broncos knew there was no chance in hell that McCarthy or Nix was sliding to them in the second round if they didn't pull the trigger. Maybe it was a bit high for them, but not egregiously so. Taking Dart or even Ewers in the top half of round 1 this year would be reaches of immense proportions. Again, all the teams at the back end of round 1 have their starting QBs. Go figure that one, playoff teams having a franchise QB. Possibly the Rams look for a guy to take over for Stafford in a year or two, but I highly doubt it.

He's got to have one heck of a Combine and Pro Day. As of now, he's seemingly overtaken Ewers for QB3, but not enough to jump all the way to the first round, let alone the top 10. My gut tells me a team like the Raiders or Saints will jump on him at the top of the second round. The only team at the back of the first round possibly needing a QB is Pittsburgh, that's if they don't keep Fields or Wilson.

Yes, they did want Brooks and that's why we moved up to stick it to them. Well, we stuck it to ourselves in typical Panthers fashion. They are wanting their next generation Zeke. A proven bell cow on a rookie deal so they can pay their other stars. As far as T-Mac goes, stud WRs are game changers. That WR class last year was so loaded that he while would have gone later than Harrison Jr., Nabers and perhaps Odunze, the first two were considered can't miss prospects. That's not a knock on T-Mac as much as how sure-fire talents the top two guys were.

On the flip side, if we trade back 4,5, or 6 spots and he's still on the board, I'm down to draft him. I'm not against a Rd1 TE, just not in the top 10.

It seems the Cowboys have a boner for Jeanty. Maybe we can get them to bite with the illusion of him being the target for us.

Johnson seems to be beneficiary of a seemingly weak CB class, certainly top echelon ones. Granted I haven't dove into the draft as much this season as prior years, but I have yet to see glowing reviews for him. Stated like this, would he be a top 10 CB in a stacked CB class? Similar to the QBs this draft, Sanders and Ward would have been second round selections in last years QB class.

It's like the GM says, "hey scouts, what would be the top 3 stupidest things to ruin our draft?" They say, don't do a,b,c." GM says "Great! love the input, so we drat players a,b,c." Scouts say, "Wait, I thought you said things we SHOULDN'T do?" GM to scouts, "okay, have a nice day."

This is one of the few drafts I can think of recently where the depth is much better than the scant amount elite players at the top of the board. That being said, who has be be gone prior to #8 where you are saying, trading back is just as attractive of an option as BPA? To me it's: -Graham -Carter -McMillan After that, to me (Jeanty aside whom we will not draft) players aren't moving the needle much more than the next prospect for several picks. I'm cool with moving back several picks and getting one of the next cluster of Edge guys.

Dude, you know the Panthers are suckers for one-year wonders with high RAS scores. It's like catnip to our front office. Who needs a player with 2-4 years of solid production with a meh RAS score? I mean, who wants a bikini model with pointy elbows, right? We end up with the chick in the low lit club who looks super hot at 2am only to wake up the next morning hung over to see her without the fake eyelashes, wig, layers of makeup and her wonder bra, girdle, padded panties and a pair of spanx on the bedroom floor. Yeah, that's who we are as an organization.
