  1. The 2023 season is over, so why hang on to guys a few more weeks when you know they will not be on your 2024 roster? Some players have early March roster bonuses. Plus this gives time for their agents to get some things lined up prior to FA agency starting, which begins exactly in one month.
  2. Davis did NOT look natural at LB his first year or even his second. The staff kept flip-flopping him back and forth because they wanted him to be a LB but looked more comfortable as a safety. Thomas had to grow into that LB role. Chinn can be a really good safety, no doubt, but could be an absolute terror as a OLB for opposing QBs.
  3. WR, RB, OLB/Egde, IOL (G/C), DL (1-tech), DB
  4. Eh, I'm not impressed with Beck. I mean, look how that roster made Stetson Bennett appear. Again, not to beat a dead horse, but I'm more intrigued by the second and third tier QBs in next year's draft as flyer picks as opposed to the "top" guys.
  5. Next draft would be an ideal time to take a flyer on a day 3 developmental pick for a QB. Lots of fringe guys that COULD develop at the next level, but a horrible draft for drafting a franchise QB.
  6. Yup and unless something drastically changes, they are likely QB1 and QB2 next draft. Neither of them are franchise material to me. Cam Ward may climb up the board to make it a 3 person race for the top QB, but again, not an elite prospect either.
  7. He's kinda stocky, compact and fairly athletic, built similarly to Baker Mayfield (college) with the same gunslinger mentality. Throws well off platform and has a range of throwing motions. Really good arm, but I would not call it elite. Anyway, that would be my comp at this time.
  8. Bryce's ceiling is mid-tier in the NFL and that's even if we can get him there. Deep outs are Bryce's Achilles heel. He doesn't the arm talent to get the ball to that section of the field with enough mustard to keep from getting defended easily or picked. He doesn't have the height to step up in the pocket, which limits his ability to see the shallow crossers unobstructed, let alone keep the ball from being batted down. So the flats and medium-to-longer in-breaking routes are his comfort zones. Shot passes for Bryce are seam routes. Opposing teams caught onto this and made him take the throws he's uncomfortable with.
  9. I wasn't talking about their college eligiblity, but projecting their stock versus to whom is likely to be QB1 in 2025 in Ewers. Put like this, if Ewers was in this draft, he'd be QB6 or QB7. Why do you think he went back to Texas? Did he want to skim NIL money from Arch Manning or some petty thing? Texas will likely make the playoffs, but will not win the Natty. So chasing a ring isn't the realistic reason either. Dude knew he'd be a top pick in 2025 and be no higher than a third rounder this year. It was a no-brainer for Ewers.
  10. Worth it, you mean taking a shot at a QB in the first round? Unless we want to take a stab a mediocre veteran in FA, then our hands are tied, so we kinda HAVE to. The very point I'm trying to prove. We never learn our lesson until we are out of options, good ones anyway.
  11. Problem being Penix and Nix would be vying for QB1 in next year's class. Ewers would be QB3. See the tragic irony there?
  12. Ahhhh...this so refreshing to learn. I couldn't agree more on all points. If these are things emphasized by Morgan, then I already am loving his tenure as GM. I've been saying the same thing about Burns, Chinn, Luvu, and Brown. Chinn should take a page out of Thomas Davis' book, if not, that's narrow sighted on his part. We can't mortgage the future for Burns. If he agrees to a reasonable contract, great, if not tag and trade. Sanders is a bust and Hubbard, while improved, is still not a short yardage move-the-pile RB. Estime and Allen would be great targets in the draft for that role. Glad to know that we are going back to our roots as a rushing team. Utilize the strength of our current OL while trying to upgrade it. I think it would be mistake to have just a 2-man QB room, camp bodies excluded. Dalton is older and in the last year of his deal. It would make sense to have a longer term back up to Bryce and if he isn't the answer, the new veteran QB can be a bridge guy for the rookie in 2025 so as not to throw him to the wolves if said rookie QB is not ready to be the day 1 starter.
  13. Seems to work for Green Bay who never gets stuck be in QB purgatory. The Panthers will never learn. Say what you will about Purdy, but that was a total flyer pick when the 49ers did not need a QB. Revisionist history may say otherwise, but at that time they did not.
  14. Awesome for DeShuan! I still remember him Supermaning into the endzone during the Super Bowl.
  15. It's about a pipeline. The one thing we NEVER learn as an organization. That pipeline only stops when you have your perennial Pro Bowl, All-Pro or Future HOF locked down for the next 10 years. Until then, waiting for the current guy to completely flame out (or trade or bolt in FA) and THEN trying to replace him is why we are in this endless cycle of misery.
  16. The very reason why this draft is going to suck for me personally. I don't disagree with one thing you stated, but it's not what I want or would do given the chance to make that decision.
  17. I bought it out of vanity because I called that pick in the draft. People told me I was crazy since we drafted CMC in the first that we would not take another RB/WR. I had Curtis penciled in at that second round pick for most of my pre-draft mocks.
  18. You do know the definition of a fair weather fan, right? I actually respect someone rocking a jersey of a bad team in public. For years if I saw a person sporting a Browns' jersey, I would actually take the time to give them credit for doing so. That's because I knew they were a true fan. I bet those same people are telling new bandwagon fans of the Browns to 'step back' since they are actually good now. I was the same in 2004 and 2016 when new a slew of new Panthers fans came out of the woodwork. I was like, "bro, where were you in 2001 and 2010?" When we EVENTUALLY get out of the basement this go around, I'll be like where were you from 2019- ?" Yeah, I call out a bandwagon in a freaking heartbeat. While fair weather fans are annoying, bandwagon "fans" are the worst.
  19. It was confirmed by Brown's wife on social media (she later deleted) that someone had to remain on the offensive staff to finish out the season and that Thomas, in fact, was already fired. Call it a deferred firing, if you will.
  20. I wasn't my first game (that was 1998 on my birthday), but the 2001 season was when I started to attend the games regularly. Why? Tickets were so darn cheap...especially later in the year! For a broke college student at the time, I could afford $20 tickets. Street vendors about 5 minutes after kickoff would nearly give tickets away. Ah, the good old days of physical tickets.
  21. Yup, Hartman immediately jumped into my mind when I read the title. Being that we are limited on picks and needing help everywhere, I really doubt a flyer pick will be considered.
  22. There's 30 other fan bases that are not represented in the Super Bowl. What prompted the question was the wife and I were at the grocery store, which was absolutely packed, and there were several people already decked out in their jerseys for the big game. Cowboys fans (of course) were among those I saw donning their jerseys as well some other teams. If nothing else, wearing a Panthers jersey will be a great conversational piece, lol.
  23. Reluctantly pulling for the 49ers. If I had a CMC jersey, I would definitely wear it. I think everyone is over the KC Swifties.
  24. I know It's a bit embarrassing right now, but if you are still active on this board, chances are you are still a loyal Panthers fan. That being said, whose jersey are you wearing tonight (either at a Super Bowl party or chilling at the house)? I'm gong retro for obvious reasons. Among the choices for tonight, I'm going either Stewart and Minter. In the man cave I have a Hoover and Greene, but they are out of the rotation as they are framed and hanging on a wall. Who are you wearing and should I sport the Minter or Stewart jersey?
