Meh...as in you think the compensation was spot on or that was the best we were getting for him? I was even willing to spread the draft compensation over two...even three drafts as long as the value came through.
-
I was willing to take a 1st and.... I realized the two 1sts ship had sailed, I wasn't delusional. But a fuggin' 2nd and 5th????

I'm not mad Burns is gone or his enormous new contract. I'm upset about the compensation. Fug Scott Fitterer.

BREAKING: Giants looking to trade for Brian Burns
45catfan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Damn what did miss going to dinner and for some drinks?!?!?! People looked at me crazy when I yelled when the trade was announce on ESPN. A) I'm glad Burns, as a contract distraction, and his cap burden are gone. B) I'm pissed at the compensation. I went from elated to pissed and now I'm numb to the whole thing. I guess two first rounders is the MAXIMUM compensation for a franchise tag, not the law of the tag.- 543 replies

Panthers sign Dolphins RG Robert Hunt
45catfan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
We cut him or force a pay cut. Those are the options. Making the money is and sitting on the bench is not an option. -
I'm hoping either Allen or Estime will still be there at the top of the 4th. I'd snag one of those two in a heartbeat.
-
Only center would make sense now.
-
Small first year. We have plenty of cap space after 2024. I would be willing to bet that's why it's a 5-year deal when most others are only 3 and some 4. Had to tack on a year or two to compensate for the peanuts he'll make this season.

I liked Queen coming out of college. I wouldn't mind this move at all.

Either a guy like in the 4th round or wait until the market cools down and sign a guy for cheap. Of all the holes on the roster, RB is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down the list.

While all that is true, Corbett has a chunk of money just to be riding the pine. That was my point. Maybe he takes a pay cut to stay? -

So is he staying on the right side or moving to the left? What are we doing with Corbett if this dude stays on the right side? -
...for 2024. Morgan is playing the long game. He probably even told Tepper in his interview it would at least take one season of cleaning house to get the roster heading in the right direction.

Crap, just crap....

Yup, $19M freed up for 2025 by cutting Bozeman, Bell and Hurst.
-
Can't afford to without eating significantly into future cap space. I know we must sign some FAs, but we have to be smart and frugal about how we do it.
-
TEs are going fast. We had better make a move before Wednesday.
-
Hey, we re-signed JJ. Long snappers are the secret weapon on every team. Also retained Hill. Slow and steady gents, sloooow and steady.
-
I think most of us prefer Burns to hit the road. Your correct though, retaining both is really not an option.
-
The FA market for center is actually fairly deep. It's a matter if we can afford any of them. You typically don't get starting rookie centers unless they are day 1 or day 2 picks. I wouldn't mind drafting one on day 3 and developing him.
-
I'm sure he would have rather made millions of dollars and actually have been successful too. Nobody likes being a failure, no matter your status in life.
