NBC's Peter King wont be suprised if Mac Jones goes ahead of Lance
45catfan replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's not his fault he hasn't played; it's not like it's injury related. Jones will struggle when the competition is finally up to par with the talent on his side of the ball. Yeah, everyone on Bama has a national championship and the very reason why kids from all over the county go there--to win national championships. Jones will struggle, I have zero doubt. -
He was the second highest paid TE in the League last year. Guys hoping he'll come here for peanuts is a pipe dream. Mind you we have already signed depth, we need a stater though. Here are the 2021 FA TEs: (You may have to toggle to the TEs) 2021 FA TEs
-
I'm torn--as much as we need a TE, we need a young one that can block just as well as they can catch. Rudolph is getting up there and blocking isn't his strength. Despite being cut, he's still going to want chunk of change. He's not going to settle or jump on the first team that comes calling. I'd probably wait and see if he lingers in FA for a while, then maybe offer him a fair deal.

Joe Marino The draft network QB scoring and write ups

His scale is either wrong or he's grading WAY too hard. According to his scale Wilson and Fields are not top 10 picks and Trey Lance is a 2nd rounder. WRONG. -

One season versus a career? That's what meant about getting caught up in the moment. Will Mac Jones be better than Lance in 2021? Probably. Who is going to help out their team in the long run and have the better career. That would be Lance, no question. If some team takes Mac Jones over Trey Lance for immediate help in the short term, that is simply and utterly moronic. -

This has got to be a joke. All because Lance's season got cancelled (except one game)? Okay. Talk about being caught up in the moment. I guess that's a huge ding all on the kids who's season got cancelled or opted out. Pfffft....idiot. -
Would I be mad for drafting Jones? If Lance is already gone, not really. The biggest thing about drafting Jones is the OL has to go from the outhouse to the penthouse overnight. Dude is a pure pocket passer...period, and will need protection to be successful. Jones would be a stud behind Indy's OL. Here with our current OL? He'd be pummeled to somewhere between livermush and roadkill.

I guess someone got Trey and Fields confused. Fields to Steelers.........................................................(at#24)
-
Yep, I've even changed my avatar. I've been on the bandwagon for a year now. He was my target for this year this time LAST February.
-
L-O-L!!!!!!!! If you honestly believe that, then you need to dig into the draft a little deeper than just talking about it. I will quit this MB for good if this happens. Please tag it, screen shot it or do whatever you need to do to mark it down. Question is, would you do the same? That's how confident I am that is 100% bulls!t.

Go back and re-read the post. I was making fun of Mel Kiper, not endorsing him. McShay and a host of other talking heads on TV are much better than Kiper. Mel is a legend in his own mind. Yeah, he was an original made-for-TV draft 'expert', but he's far from the best one today. Just because he was one of the firsts, that doesn't make him the best.
-
Nice cherry pick. Mel spews enough stuff that he could be right AND wrong on most first round picks over the months leading up to the draft. Heck, he's like chief meteorologist of the draft...given enough predictions, one is bound to come true.
-
LOL, some people can't see sarcasm if it fall out of sky the and hit them on the head. The irony of this is Mel was mocking scouts, you know the professional ones, while he just plays one on TV.
-
Mel Kiper is defending Fields now (dropping on other BBs). Stick a fork in Fields. Kiper has endorsed Mac Jones and Fields. So we know which two QBs NOT to pick.

Watch the clip I posted above and see if ANYTHING resembles Teddy....at all.

Questioning his arm strength. Start with this play. He's on HIS 45 yard line and throws to the endzone for a touchdown. There are more too. A couple more 50+ yard bombs. I cut out a lot of Trey's rushing TDS at the beginning of this video.

Sewell and Slater won't both be gone before #5 and the next couple of teams are looking at defense or skill positions. Cincy can move back and still either get Sewell, Slater or possibly the choice of the two. They are in a cherry spot at #5. I don't think it would take much to move them back 3 spots to #8.
-
That among other things; I was primarily referring to us taking Mac Jones with Trey Lance still on the board.

Pro days all & Nd State pro day March 12
45catfan replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
One day I will keep my eye on, March 12th. Also, Pro Days typically go into April so I think more will be added/announced. Many schools not on that list. -
We won't have to. All 4 QBs going before pick 5 is so highly improbable that isn't not worth fretting over. No reason to be all nervous to jump to #3. The 5th pick is only 300 points on a trade value chart from #8. Even for QB inflation, you are not talking about much more. We sit tight if we think one falls or move to up to #5. Watson will cost us A TON MORE than moving up to #5.

Best movie of all time! Yes, I'm very serious Shirley.

Latest mock from the Athletic. Fields to CAr. Jones to NO
45catfan replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hope so, but Lance is moving ahead of Fields on some BBs. I'm not sure if it's more confidence in Lance or less confidence in Fields.
