Why, so he can sit on the bench until he learns how to be a pocket QB and read coverage? This isn't FCS and he's not going to be able to run all over the field until guys come open. Dude absolutely tanked when he played FBS talent. The NFL isn't any easier.

The OT favor is returned to the Chiefs from last week. Now they know how it feels not being able to answer the other team's score. They even had the ball first. No excuses.

The team may look to go old school in revert back to a John Fox mentality and lean heavy on the run game. I'm not sure investing in the OL is purely looking to upgrade pass-pro (which is obvious), but being able to pound the rock effectively. Keeping Darnold in 3rd and manageable is the objective. His short passing game isn't the problem, it's the longer routes where he has to deal with the back seven. Quick hitters like HB screens, smoke screens, slants, stacked concepts where a 'rub' gets a guy free in the first several yards...things like that he's efficient at. The problem was we were nearly always in 3rd and long where the pass rush came into play and deeper routes came into play, thereby requiring Sam read the entire secondary. That, we know, he's pretty bad at.

My bad, I thought that position got filled too by the Bears. Not yet though.

Apparently it's official now, McDaniels to Vegas

Welp, that's another job Joe Brady lost out on. Rhule has damaged that young man's career. He'll recover, but it may take a season or two before he lands on his feet. He may have to go back to college or take a position coach job if he stays in the NFL. I hope he's not arrogant enough to think he's going to land another OC gig in the NFL right away.

Bouye and Daley are the only players that make a whole lot of sense to part ways with. That's only $6 million in savings, which translates in free agency to acquiring one pretty decent player or a couple of above average guys. In the grand scheme of things, not much difference.

I agree completely, it's just the spot where the team has pigeon-holed themselves into. That's where we stand currently before the draft. Again, I'm extremely worried that Rhule has got to Tepper's ear. If we do draft a round 1 QB, Rhule all but assuredly has told Tepper it's going to be a two year project...at minimum.
-
My biggest worry is Rhule has already primed Tepper for a better, yet non-winning season with a nod to 2023 as the year it comes all together. Remember, Rhule has a 7-year deal and next season isn't even the halfway point. Rhule is the ultimate used car salesman, so unless the wheels come completely off this coming season, I'm not convinced that even another losing season is necessarily Rhule's last straw.
-
Agreed, nothing else makes sense. The only other thing I can think of is we trade for current backup (like Minshew this season) or sign a FA QB (Mariota, Brissett or Trubisky) as insurance in case we hit a 'break glass in emergency' scenario with Darnold. We know Darnold doesn't have a much higher ceiling, but I don't think we've seen his floor yet either. That's the scary part.
-
Too many good tackles in this year's draft (on a rookie deal, keep in mind) to take a swipe at an aging, very highly paid OT with injury concerns.
-
The team made their bed with Darnold, period. He's likely to be the starter next season if I had to guess. The Panthers are in a no-win situation on the QB front. A rookie QB starting means a 99.9% chance of a losing season, Darnold starting is still likely a losing season, but a few more wins and probably no significant upgrade can be had in a trade without sacrificing the future. That's the scary part, this team was pretty aggressive in trades this season signaling a 'win now' mentality. If Rhule thinks his butt on squarely on the hot seat for next year, he could give a crap about how that leaves the team in 2023 and beyond, giving the farm away all the while as he's on his way out the door.
-
If true and Arians is in just 'spin' mode with the media, that will be 2-of-4 team in this division looking at significant revamping going into next season. When I read stuff like this and realize Rhule is still around while other divisional foes are on the downswing, it's one face palm moment after another. We really should be in the pole position to take charge of the NFCS, but instead we are just flopping around like fish out of water.

Not a whole lot of savings to be had this year. It looks like our 2022 cap isn't going to get much better. We just suck it up this year. Hopefully next year with Rhule gone, a full slate of draft picks (fingers crossed) and a handful of guys whose cap savings significantly out weigh their dead cap, it will be time to get this team going in the right direction. For the little bit of cap savings with some of these guys, it's not worth trading off the dead cap for 2023. I'd much rather start 2023 with little-to-no dead cap, of which we are saddled with no dead cap currently.

Yep, normally by this time I have the top 5 or 6 prospects in most key positional groups already studied and a mini-big board formulated. This year I just can't get into it. With Rhule here next year and lacking ANY day 2 picks, I just have about zero enthusiasm for this draft season. It sucks too, because normally this is my FAVORITE time of year.

I know this really a profile on the QBs, but it can also be viewed as a condensed scouting report.
-
Here's one from GBN on the top six QBs. Not as detailed as individual scouting reports can be, but good enough for the top guys in a positional group that you can get a sense of what they are thinking. FWIW, this is my go-to site. Extremely good at scouting, but as for mock drafts, that's not their best suit. 2022 QB Scouting Report (Top 6)

How many coaches did MJ go though? Did he seem to stick with losing coaches because he liked them? I get Tepper wants to be patient, but Rhule is a freaking joke in the NFL. Sure he may be an effective coach at the college level, but not in this League. Our fan base is already checking out for 2022 and don't have the patience for Rhule to continue to 'figure it out' at this level for another season or two.

And Rodgers looking for a way out.

Who will be worst team in NFC south next season
45catfan replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Mine is: 1. Falcons 2. Bucs 3 Panthers 4. Saints Trust me, it was REALLY hard to put the Falcons in first, but they have their core still intact. If the Bucs can find a decent veteran QB in FA, they still have a fairly stout squad. The only reason I have the Panthers above the Saints is I think the N.O. is going full-blown rebuild. They have no reason to keep kicking their dead cap down the road. New coach, get the cap back under control, but brace for a 2-3 years of hardship. -
Let's see if Tepper has two future NFL GMs in his ranks like his predecessor. Tepper is a fugging joke, just like his clown head coach.

Howell about no.

Brooks' mock :Two all beef patties, special Sauce...
45catfan replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
A little nuance in there from Brooks...'all three OTs could be gone.' If that were to happen, I'm not sure who I would take a #6 and no simply saying "trade back" is an option because more than likely, it will not be. No, a corner is not my top option even in that scenario.
