People are not actually looking at Willis, but hoping he's Cam 2.0 instead based off the things being posted here about his scrambling abilities. Here's the part of their nostalgia that is lacking in reality: Cam got wore down after 7 years of his body taking a beating at 6'5" and 250 pounds. Willis? He's almost the exact same size as RGIII. How long did that last scrambling around in the NFL?

Didn't he have an injury in his bowl game He's probably not going to risk further injuring or re-injuring it for a meaningless game. He'll probably throw at the Combine and work out at his Pro Day. Those hold more a lot more weight in the evaluation process anyway.

Money speaks volumes my friend. Saying someone will take a hometown discount and them turning down more money elsewhere is easy for you or I to say. The dude actually walking away from more money probably sees it a little differently.

I had to go back all the way to back to 1968 to find a top 10 center and that was #2 overall. A highly touted center usually goes no higher than the mid-teens (still VERY, EXTREMELY rare) and most top centers in a typical class go late round 1 to early round 2.

At #6. Virtually unheard of centers being top 10 picks.

If all 3 OTs are taken, then I'm trading down or taking Linderbaum at a slight reach if unable to move.

So I went back and looked at QBs drafted from '10 to '19 and put them into two categories (the ones that actually were starters for a while) and found 2 was the high water mark for difference making franchise QBs in any one draft. The '10, '13, '14 and '15 drafts netted zero successful franchise QBs. The '12 and '17 drafts netted 2 and only ONE in the years not stated. The last two drafts, while looking promising, are too new to include at this point. The other category was what I deemed 'purgatory' QBs...those that keeps a team competitive, but will not good enough for a post season on a regular basis. The 2012 season was unusual with 4 of them and the '14 season netting 3. All other years were 1 or 2. So as you can see, with most years having roughly 10 QBs drafted, finding a franchise saving QB is MUCH harder than it seems on the surface.

It depends for me. If they turn around a doormat franchise, yeah, I'll be disappointed that we passed on him. But if you take Mac Jones, for instance, he couldn't have replicated what he did in NE here. Heck, he'd been on IR before the midway point of the season in a Panthers uniform.

Fair enough, it seemed like you were on the 'draft a QB no matter what' train. There are some folks here on that train.

Yeah, you do your research and don't exactly like what you see and yet you still draft a guy out of desperation hoping this unpolished rock is actually a gem...despite all the research done showing otherwise.

Again, do you even see a Hebert in this draft? I don't. It was a coin flip if the Dolphins were going to take Tua or Herbert. Herbert could have easily been QB2 behind Burrow. If picks 2-4 needed a QB, he could have went higher. Point being, this class is not great and blindly throwing darts at the board hoping you hit a bulls eye is not a strategy...it's desperation.

Very true, but if one isn't there you believe can get the job done, do you still take one and cross your fingers? Let's see in your example..one was a National Champion, the other was a Heisman Trophy winner and Allen had all the traits you wanted in a NFL QB but needed to improve accuracy. No Natty QBs in this draft, no Heisman trophy winners and none that are considered worthy of the #1 overall pick. Heck, I don't even see a Josh Allen in this draft. He'd be QB1 in this class.

The Bucs bought their SB and the Rams are doing the same. They got this year and next before their all-star team falls apart. They can't re-sign all these big-name dudes once they hit FA. Oh, they don't have a first round pick until 2024 either. I have two reasons to pull for the Bengals, for one, that franchise needs a trophy for all those years of sucking and mainly I'd really like to see the Rams attempt to buy a SB victory fall short.

This fan base is so desperate they are looking for a 'silver bullet' solution. What's the most valuable spot on an NFL roster? The QB. So find a QB and problem solved, right? All the noise about weak QB class, we have no OL to keep the poor guy from getting pummeled and a clueless coaching staff...all that stuff is irrelevant. DRAFT A QB...WINNING! Simple solutions for the simple minded.

The fan vote is almost meaningless. Pro Bowl voting is a joke.

That's how you David Carr them. Plenty of examples of how crap organizations ruin a young QB's career. It's like playing the lottery, sure you may get lucky, but chance are it's not going to be a winning ticket.

What??????? I have yet to see any big board even remotely looking like this. Zappe being about the only one is the correct spot on some.

Or you can have the Pittsburgh model where they build a competitive team and then draft a rookie QB with enough efficient parts around him to be successful. I mean Big Ben went to the playoffs as a rookie and won the SB in his second season. Same with Tom Brady in his second year. See the trend? You don't have a crap organization, with crap coaches that has a crap track record and think you can draft a QB and they will save the franchise. Sure, #1 overall picks like Burrow and Murray pan out with decent teams and good coaching. Two problems here, our team is not even decent and there's not a QB worthy of the #1 overall pick even if we had it.

Remember it's a process, so improving on 5 wins is a step forward in the 7-year plan. Rhule can do that managing Darnold's game and building the OL, but he can't do that with a rookie QB, especially in this class.

I find it funny and ironic that Willis has done so little yet is the hot name now. Last year when I wanted us to take Tray Lance, the dude's game was put under a freaking microscope by some people here and picked apart. We have a weak QB class and a guy that can't hold a candle to Lance is getting super hyped. Lol, our fan base is desperate. Willis is R-A-W folks and a highlight film composed of 90% run plays for a QB isn't impressive to me.

The only reason and I do mean ONLY, that drafting a QB would be acceptable to me is assures Rhule of another losing season.

All Rhule needs to get a year 4, so...

Just saying the shoe is on the other foot. Who cares if they agree with the rule or not? They benefited last week from the current format and got beat under the same rules. I have no problem with sudden death as long as both teams touch the ball at least once. That's the only thing that needs to change. The college format is stupid, IMO.
