My biggest worry is the offense that CCU runs. They run the option to set up the pass. After getting burned in the option game, their opponents roll more defenders in the box and McCall lights them up. I mean, if we get rid of this staff and get a new one that embraces RPO concepts, that would play to McCalls strengths. Of course fewer and fewer of these college QBs are coming into the League as pure pocket passers anyway.

Reps are needed to hit wide open WRs? Who knew? Some of his throws yesterday were simply arse. Protection, check. Route recognition, check. WR beat his man, check. Baker able to complete the process, nope. When 90% of the the process to complete the pass is there and just the ability do what any NFL QB should be able to do and hit a wide open WR is not be done, you can't go back 6 weeks ago and complain about splitting reps.
-
Baker was completely healthy, so there's that.
-
And why not? I mean since we won yesterday all of Matt Rhule's blunders for the past 2+ years magically disappeared. We are going on a 15-0 run now!

Herbert was playing with broken ribs.

Our defense has a few of those type games per season like yesterday where they simply dominate. For whatever reason, it comes and goes. If the Rhuleaid drinkers think our defense is going to look like that every game the rest of the year, then the poison has already taken affect. Granted the offense probably won't look as bad, but they aren't turning into a well-oiled machine that the defense can appear to be from time-to-time.

Stafford had a broken or dislocated finger on his throwing hand, but hand it taped up and was trying to play through it. He was off all game. Our defense was playing lights out though.

Just a friendly reminder about today's victory...

The next 3 of 4 games are at home. The Panthers better make good on that because after Tampa (last one in that home stand) of the final 10 games, only 4 are at home. I see 3 maybe 4 wins in that final stretch of 10 games. If Rhule wants to eclipse his 5 win mark, he's going to need this team to pull off some upsets in this upcoming home stand. -

Yep, already got my preliminary top two picks. I would have three, but you know, traded away the third pick for CJ (busted coverage) Henderson. -

I wonder who these 3-4 people are that still defend Rhule here. Has to be members in the organization or members of Matt's family. -
Lol, the defense and STs played nearly a flawless game and we won by a single score, at HOME. How many more games do you anticipate that happening?
-
Oh, we can lose to crappy QBs too. My point is we likely aren't winning more than 1-2 games versus good QBs all seson, so the wins most likely come versus the crappy ones. I think it was: Winston (again), Mariota x2, Gino Smith, Goff and Trubisky

There's those of us that want the band aid ripped off quickly and those of you that think pulling it off slowly is going to make it somehow better. Rhule is a sh!t coach, period. Now, will he manage some wins? Of course, there's some decent players on this roster. But each meaningless win (we AIN'T going to the playoffs, let's not be delusional) takes us further down the draft board and gives Tepper cause to keep this fool around longer then most of us would like. -
I made a list yesterday of which QBs we have left to play this season and it was pretty ugly. If we only beat teams with crappy QBs, Rhule might actually break 5 wins this year, but not by much.

You guys are still sleeping on McCall. Dude ain't the biggest, fastest or strongest arm, but all he does is ball out and win. Kid twisted his ankle last game early in the 3rd quarter last week and already had a full game worth of stats in. Even though his team was winning comfortably and the backup QB was holding his own, he STILL was pleading his case to the HC to come back in and finish the game on a bum ankle.

Players to keep when the teardown eventually happens

After hanging on for the win, my list doesn't change. There are some building blocks here, but unfortunately we have a coach that's going to keep his Bear/Owls around when they have not business on this roster. A good head coach, with a solid QB could turn this thing around in a season or two. We have neither. -
This soup-er bowl?
-
Why does Rhule always look like he's smelling a fart?
-
Better than Wintson: Kyler Murray, Jimmy G., Matthew Stafford, Burrow, Tom Brady (x2), Lamar Jackson and Russell Wilson Then we have: Mariota (x2) Gino Smith, Trubisky, Jared Goff and Winston again
-
That never was going to happen. As much sh!t as we give this team, it has too much talent for that. The true test is a winning record.
-
Winston is a garbage QB. I'll make a list of who we have the rest of the season shortly. We only play Winston once more.
-
Never been so ambivalent about a win.
-
4-D chess. Saints knew a win today would give Rhule an extended stay. They're playing the long game. They will throttle us in New Orleans.
