  1. A unicorn situation is where there is a HC vacancy and there's an established, successful QB in place. In other words extremely rare if not a complete fantasy. Usually HCs don't get canned in such scenarios where there's elite QB play. Most newly hired HCs are dealing with some sort of QB ineptitude walking in the door.
  2. I don't know, people get star stuck with big name QB classes and outside of Stroud and Young, there's not a lot of household names at the top this year. However, this QB class is DEEP. That said this is the perfect draft to take a stab on a 2nd rounder.
  3. 100% on Scott? No, but will he have a say like Hurney did? Absolutely. Tepper will obviously have to give his stamp of approval, but I think this time around he's going to lean on the GM to do the bulk of the leg work and give the final thumbs up or down. Tepper knows his finger prints were ALL over the Rhule hire. This time around I don't think he's going put himself in the position to be the fall guy if the next HC doesn't work out.
  4. Michael Mayer in a trade back. Obviously not with a top 5 pick. McCall at the top of the 2nd round.
  5. NO OSU QBs!!!!!!! System QBs with an embarrassment stacked talent surrounding them. The same with Bama QBs. I actually would like Young over Stroud if Young had Stroud's build. Young will be broken in a hurry in the League.
  6. Tepper deflected any speculation about the end of the season, that was not unique to just Fitterer. I didn't get the vibe that Scott was in any immediate danger. He will get to pick his coach and likely at least a full season with that coach before getting the axe if the product stays abysmal. I'd say offseason 2024 would be the earliest Fitterer is canned.
  7. They BOTH did on the same trip and it was a collaborative hire. Marty was just as impressed with the used car salesman as Tepper was.
  8. Was saying winning that hard? Once a reporter called him out on the excessive use of "getting over the hump" he finally started to say winning.
  9. Tepper did say the next HC would have a "balanced" role with the GM.
  10. I noticed a difference in tone near the end when the guy asked about tanking. Tepper didn't catch what the guy was asking the first time (the guy didn't use the word tanking) but Tepper caught his drift when he reworded the question. That definitely pissed him off.
  11. Tepper trying to dance around the 7-year contract. Without saying it, basically said he gambled (and lost) and would do more a 'traditional' contract next time. Big question (long winded version by reporter) about tanking (wihtout saying the word "tanking": Tepper wants to win now. Not that he would say the tank is on publicly anyway.
  12. It's easier to find a competent DC than OC, hands down. That being said, could we for ONCE in Panthers history go after a offensive minded HC and just hire a damn good DC?
  13. That's right, Cooper too. The few years at Baylor shouldn't immediately disqualify them. Their job security (at least the rest of the year) is more important than loyalty Rhule. Everyone knew Snow would be gone as soon as Rhule was.
  14. All are not tied at the hip except for Nixon. After that, various amounts of years these folks worked with Rhule. Sharing a cup of coffee with Rhule shouldn't be an automatic pink slip.
  15. Yup, just like Snow has followed Rhule around. They were college roommates. The rest of the crew can stay (for now) as the ties are far tight to Rhule. Yeah, Nixon would be the only other Rhule lackey that needs to immediately go.
  16. As long as Tepper let's Fitterer do his job and not be a freaking 'fingers in the pot' owner like Jerry Jones, I have high hopes for the future.
  17. I can't remember who, but a few people were fairly high on him coming out of college a sleeper pick in late in the draft. I wasn't one of them though.
  18. Eh, wasn't it 70% of the snaps? So wouldn't that be like 5 games missed if I'm doing the math correctly?
  19. The Packers need some veteran WRs.
  20. So you mean we won't have 8 Bear/Owls here next year? That's practically gutting the team!
  21. It's not about now, this was about the future. At least we know Matt Rhule will not be roaming our sidelines in 2023. That in itself is a relief even if the team still struggles the remainder of this year.
  22. Beat me to it. Seifert thought he needed to upgrade from Beuerlein when Steve wasn't the problem. The grass isn't always greener on the other side.
