  1. Trivia question: Who was the last #1 draft pick QB to win a Super Bowl with their original draft team? (Name, SB year and draft year).
  2. As a UFA, I'd take a shot on Jackson, but that's not the case. Definitely not mortgaging the future on him in draft capital and cap space.
  3. A lot of those key QBs that were supposed to be the meat of this draft and opted to stay/transfer will be out of eligibility, plus add in all the guys that will be eligible next year too. Now injuries, down seasons personally/team-wise will cause some of the crop to stay in school, but the numbers will be much better than this coming draft class. Coming off a super-weak and thin QB drafts back-to-back is setting up a bumper crop in 2024.
  4. No matter win lose lose, Philly fans are assured to tear their own city up. Class acts and the very reason I was pulling for KC last night. The Philly fan base (as a whole) are classless.
  5. Yup, and to the dismay of many, I'm will to wait for a loaded 2024 QB class. Where this class was supposed to be deep, albeit light at the top of the board--next year's class is both deep and top heavy.
  6. I don't think anyone would argue that you need a special QB to win the Super Bowl, it's just a matter of how that QB is found/acquired and developed. There's where the debate starts. Remember, Hurts was widely regarded as system QB with accuracy issues coming out of college. Hurts was also a 2nd round pick as a result. Mahommes came from Texas Tech where the QBs historically put up huge numbers in a pass happy offense, but were major flops in the NFL. Saying either one of these guys would be where they are today is a major reach because both had QBs drafted before them and doubts about their game. Point being, drafting a QB is a crap shoot and draft position isn't necessarily an indicator of how that player's career will an out. I mean Trubisky is a backup that got benched for a rookie this year and Jordan Love still can't sniff the field.
  7. Rumor is he's wanting his contract fully guaranteed like Deshaun Watson. That, more than anything, is the sticking point--not the overall value.
  8. Jackson's production has only gotten worse as the League has figured out how to play him. Not only that, as mentioned at length, he can't stay healthy. One reason why he's wanting a fully guaranteed contract. He's not stupid, but he's also tipping his hand. Lamar knows his style of play has a shelf life and it's likely to expire before he, or the team, would like it to.
  9. Really? You must not spend much time on the board anymore. I mean, the Huddle will be calling for Tepper's, Fitterer and Reich's collective heads if we don't move up for a QB this draft as we sit at #9. Entire threads have been dedicated to moving up for a QB because it's a MUST. In theory I agree there's not much of a difference in the top 10 unless there's a generational QB at the top of the board. This draft there is not. That is not stopping this forum from demanding a trade up though.
  10. Great coaching is key. Both staffs called an excellent game on offense. Reid's clock management at the end of the game was flawless. I truly believe Philly wins if given enough time to march down the field. Andy didn't give them the opportunity. Remember, Mahommes and Hurts were picks #10 and #53 in their respective classes. You don't need the #1 overall pick, just a really good QB prospect, a great QB developer and a solid team around him.
  11. How much longer are we (the Panthers) going to pretend that TE isn't a skill position and just another blocker?
  12. Pulling for KC. I can't pull for Philly after I head/read the horror stories of how Panthers fans were treated during the 2003 NFC Championship game.
  13. Sam's main problem is purely mental. He's got the physical tools. No, he's not the fastest QB--fast enough and not the strongest arm, but plenty strong. His problems are recognizing schemed coverage and letting bad plays go. Usually they are intertwined meaning he got fooled by a coverage, throws a pick and the rest of his day heads straight downhill. If McCown can coach him up to see clues in different coverage and build him up to where a mistake doesn't ruin his day, then Sam would be a really good #2 or bridge QB. That said, if he is on this roster next year, I hope the sole intent is to be that bridge QB/#2. In the long term, we do need an upgrade over a serviceable QB.
  14. Some people on the Huddle are so desperate for a QB,they would give up the next 5 years worth of draft picks for a QB.
  15. Corral could be a the biggest beneficiary. That broken foot may have been a blessing in disguise because had he been healthy and got thrown into that QB poo carousel last year--looked like crap, people would be down on him. Being an 'unknown' is a lot better label than getting thrown to the wolves and being labeled a 'loser'.
  16. Yes!!!! Now we need to get Smitty coaching the WRs!
  17. Brissett, Hienicke and Minshew are a few I wouldn't mind. I don't think the Ravens or Giants let Jackson/Jones get away. Likewise, Cooper Rush or Mike White will likely get locked up before hitting the market. Both guys looked good in relief roles.
  18. We should sign a veteran and draft other positions. I laid out the various reasons in another thread. Sam is an option, but without poking around the QB FA pool first, I would not say he's the veteran option just yet.
  19. okay, they win the division and go nowhere in the playoffs. Meanwhile the rest of the division is getting younger and flush with cap money. Again, this idea that they are contenders is crazy. The only thing I can think of is they are letting these key defensive players in their prime play out their deals while keeping them in the thick of things. They are trying their best to retool on the fly, but I don't see it working.
  20. At some point they are going to have to blow it all up. Why not now? I get there's a staff trying to keep their jobs, but as an organization--GM, owners, they have to realize this is unsustainable. Restructures are fine if BOTH parties agree, but it's going to be tough to get that many players to take a pay cut or push their money out several years. If they are committed to that staff, they say "look, we have to clear our books and it will be a tough couple of years, but we will stick by you as we get though this."
  21. Here's a link that should help out. https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale I'll see myself out....
  22. Yep, Jake bounced around and was one of those quality #2 QBs that just couldn't crack the #1 spot, even playing well in spot duty. I remember him being signed to the Panthers to compete with Rodney Pete. He somehow lost out in camp, but when Pete sucked that first half against Jax and got yanked, then in came Jake...well, the rest was history.
  23. I see, all the prorated bonuses comes due at once as soon as the player becomes a FA. It's odd to even bother to spread it out like that if the payout is a lump sum when due. I'm certain there's a reason. Obviously it's to take off cap pressure that season the player signs, but the reasoning is confusing to draw it up like that so far out in the future with the voided years.
  24. If I remember correctly he was on shaky ground last year with the Dolphins because he didn't want to block, essentially being a hybrid WR. Granted, he's a good pass catching TE, but if he's not willing to do the dirty work too...especially at the price he's wanting, then no thanks.
