Ok, we are just going to disagree on this. I ain't changing your mind and you certainly aren't changing mine. Again, the urgency of this fan base is shading the glasses of this QB class more and more rosy. The Burrow comparison did elicit a chuckle, I must confess.

I don't want Carr.
-
No I don't, but Young is at best somewhere between Tua and Murray and Stroud is a Fields clone. Is that something I'm willing to give up the farm for? No. Pull up our roster and tell me how a rookie QB, even if Stroud or Young (not happening) is making this team better? The pipe dream is Levis and AR not only starting day 1, but also panning out. Neither of those guys are plug/play and will absolutely bust if forced into action prematurely.
-
It is. Take last year's craptasic QB class as the comparison, sure, it looks fantastic. Stroud and Young are good and AR/Levis are major projects. None are great. Beyond those Hooker would have been a nice fall back play, but the ACL. Go beyond that and most of these guys won't even make a NFL roster after cut downs. People are talking themselves into this being a better QB class than it actually is because we NEED one. I'm willing to bet most of these people on here would not be hyping these guys nearly as hard if we had a solid QB and took a more pragmatic view of these QB prospects.

I hope they stay put then. I know the QB purgatory we've been in and I also understand moving up for a player you really like. It seems, at for the fan base, the first is necessitating the later. Let's just hope the the coaching staff doesn't feel that pressure. If they TRULY, 100% are in love with one of the QBs, then go get him. Moving up because the fans--even David Tepper, are being impatient is the wrong way to go.

You don't win a marathon in the first mile, this is going to take more than the 2023 season. No, not the 7-year Rhule, but 2-3 years. Unless Stroud or Young falls to #9 (not happening) I don't like drafting a QB this year. Too many holes to trade draft capital away and AR/Levis are long term projects at best (likely busts). Don't screw up our cap for a mid-tier, severely overpriced FA. Again, the practical route isn't very sexy, but it's likely the correct one to get this team going in the right direction.

Coaching Staff: Final Pieces (as of 2-23-23)

I wonder if Tony Gonzalez wants to break into coaching? He's still in broadcasting, correct? What's Antonio Gates up to these days? -
Figures the practical answer would get this response.

If these people--"draft a QB at all costs" looked at the past drafts, they would realize that it's more likely a failed experiment than successful one. Oh, but "look the 2020 draft!!!" there are outliers in statistics for a reason. Cue the "things have changed" or "You have to take a swing" crowd. No, you play the odds and right now we have a first year staff, very incomplete roster, weak QB draft and a couple of FA QBs that have played in the system that Reich uses. This is a very simple answer to me. Take off the QB blinders and see the big picture folks.

RE: poll--none of these. Brissett/Mishew then trade back, accumulate more picks and take the QB next draft.
-
Possibly, but if they have a QB sitting there when they pick, I don't think Mac Jones is going to stop them. Even if they trade for Jones, I doubt they are set with him being their QB of the future--rather a taking a swing and see what happens. Again, they have Stidham right now, they HAVE to do something. Jones would be an upgrade, but that's not saying much.

Fred Smoot was his favorite one, though.

Understanding sarcasm is an art. Our TE room is bad, but a job is a job especially if it's a promotion. -

Perspective coaches look at the Panthers TE room and people wonder why that's the only positional group remaining with a vacancy. -
Outside of a generational QB, they are ALL risks. If you follow the draft, usually it's the other way around--expectations are low for fringe QBs early on, one or two guys are hyped and then two, three or four more end up going in the first round (last year's crap class being an exception). There is no generational QB this draft, thus each of them have several questions. Beyond Stroud and Young, Levis and Richardson are more bust than boom prospects.
-
It usually who catches fire and there are several that could. The problem with Levis is he took a step backwards. Injuries happen, but he lost some weapons this past season. Williams and Maye are the obvious ones, but Pennix, Ward, McCall, Leary, Reed, Ewers, Daniels, Nix, Travis, Van Dyke, Jefferson, Hartman, Ulagalelei, Armstrong, Jurkovec, Rogers, Gabriel, Rising, Mordicai, Rattler and so on and so on and so on. That's not even considering the first year starters taking over guys getting drafted this year, that could come out after one season. It's deep and talented. I'd take nearly any of those guys NOW over Mckee in this draft and he's generally considered QB5/6. This draft was always light at the top, but several guys went back to school and gutted the middle rounds prospects. Most of those guys are out of eligibility after this season; they have to come out. If any of the transfers light it up with their new schools, their draft stock will skyrocket. It's hard to say now how may 1st rounders will be projected, but I would venture it could be as high as 6 or 7. Patience grasshopper.

Tells me all I need to know right there.

Moving up to the top 10 is not as pricey as moving up to the top 3.
-
Hard up for a 5'8 midget, a dude out of Kentucky whose stats suck and a RSO that can't hit a broad side of a barn, but MAN does he have an arm! Stroud's okay, but would have been QB 4 in the 2020 draft. But muh QB, I need muh QB!!!!
-
Have little clue about who's available then, huh?
-
Agreed on Hooker. Next draft is shaping up to be a doozy. The underclassmsn are boss and a TON of SR/RSR/GR QBs that are out of eligiblity. There's about 6 guys that were coming out this draft that stayed/transferred that are all coming out on top of all the others that will be declaring too. Some underclassmen will stay, still, it will be the draft to snag a QB. Granted we will miss out on Williams and Maye (if he declares) but still prime pickings should remain beyond that.
-
I'm actually on the 2024 train. We can't/won't get Young or Stround and the next two have HUGE question marks. Solidify the roster at other positions this year, get the bridge QB and draft the QB of the future next draft.
-
Levis will go top 10. AR-15 will likely go first round too, but teams know they are going to have to be patient with him, so where he goes is iffy. Not many teams have the luxury of waiting for rookies to develop. Heck, the Jets are jettisoning Wilson just after two seasons. Young and Stroud are plug/play. Levis could be too, but should sit a year. Richardson will bomb if he plays right away. I think most teams realizes he needs to sit. Again, not many teams can afford to draft a first round QB and sit him.
-
Exactly, and why I don't want him. He's too much of a project for a first rounder. Let some other team spend 2-3 years developing him. Vegas is drafting a QB. If we don't take him or the Saints, he definitely falls out of the top 15. Possibly the Ronskins/Commandos at #16.
-
The only way I want to draft Richardson is if he falls to the second round. Outside of that, it looks like Young, Stroud and Levis will be gone. Bridge QB is the way and rookie QB in 2024. Rhule couldn't find his way out of a wet paper sack, so there's a reason why this experiment didn't work well under his leadership(?). Give a competent staff a crack at this.
