  1. Dick Vermiel too. Heck he took 15 years off between coaching stints.
  2. I listen to sports radio going into work every morning and when this went down, the guys speculated the same thing based off reports...that Ballard and Irsay got more heavily involved as the Colts struggled. Matt Ryan's benching in favor of an unproven dude was almost assuredly not from Frank. It's like they wanted into tank mode--"Seeing what Ehlinger has" so early in the season. That's a move you make once you've been eliminated from the playoffs. Once Frank was fired, and Irsay's best buddy Jeff Saturday was given a job he had zero qualifications for (the guys confirmed they are VERY, VERY TIGHT) Matt Ryan was immediately reinstated. Yes, the Colts struggled this season, but unfortunately Reich slipped up just enough for Irsay to get his buddy the job.
  3. Good thing the Patriots didn't have that same attitude in 2000 about hiring retreads. Remember, Belichick got axed by Cleveland...C-L-E-V-E-L-A-N-D. Granted, Bill took a DC stint between those two jobs, but he was still a retread when he went to the Patriots. Lots of examples of successful retreads. The trick is finding the right one. Conversely, TONS of example of first time HCs busting.
  4. Mayer falling to the 2nd round would be like finding the winning powerball ticket someone dropped on the sidewalk. I've seen mocks with him cracking the top 10. He's really reaching Greg Olsen territory who I think the Bears selected at #8.
  5. Kincaid seems to be everyone's fall back player if we don't land Mayer and I don't disagree with sentiment at all. WRs and a bookend to Burns seems to be pretty trendy too. I like it.
  6. A sentence I thought I would never say--I want to see Sam starting at QB this Sunday. Bluhhh...pardon, I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
  7. Okay, this is a crack pipe draft and I traded back a TON. But I likez it, I likez it ALOT!!!
  8. The Jets may bench Wilson this week, a HEALTHY benching. Just a cautionary tale about the fallacy of franchise savior being a top 5 pick.
  9. Burns sack was a blown assignment and he went completely untouched to the QB. The RT, for whatever reason, took another player. I could have made that sack. Just say'n... it is what it is. Hey, Burns padded his sack stats and ain't mad about it.
  10. We match up until the last two picks. Why secondary over other needs when DBs are arguably the strength/most depth on the team? All starters are back and we are 5 deep at CB. We just need backup safeties and as much as we joke about Temple players, I imagine Franklin will be re-signed if nothing more than his STs play. Finding S#4 shouldn't be too difficult to sift through in FA.
  11. Nobody is talking about Will Rogers. Is it because he's in an 'air raid' system? If somehow we miss out on Stroud/Young, would he be an option in the mid-rounds? I know that is a stat padding offensive scheme, but the numbers sure do look good.
  12. Yes, no doubt there. Again, If we had an established guy already at QB1, I'd be all in for Minshew being our backup. I'm jut not sure about him being the best guy to bring along a rookie QB. He kinda seems like he's his own dude...if that makes any sense; I'm not getting a mentoring vibe going on with Minshew.
  13. Hurts was also not a rookie when the Eagles traded for Minshew. I don't hate the idea, but I think an older, more established guy would fit the bill better though.
  14. If the Bills don't re-sign Case Keenum, I like the idea of him the best. I wouldn't mind Andy Dalton either. Both guys probably realize if they want to stay in the League, a backup gig is the likely role. Both are former starters that had some success.
  15. I like Minshew as a Taylor Heinicke type of reliable backup, but does he have the mentoring/knowledge to bring along a rookie?
  16. Another question is if we choose to bring the rookie along slowly, who would you sign to at least start the season? That is a real possibility, so let's talk about the elephant in the room. Let's not pretend it's a 100% given said rookie QB takes the first snap of opening day.
  17. Leaving out STs, rank these 12 positions. Currently we have seven draft picks (1st, 2nd(a), 2nd(b), 3rd, 4th(a), 4th(b) and a 5th). Here are mine: QB-1 WR-3 RB-6 TE-2 IOL-8 OT-12 DE-5 DT-9 ILB-4 OLB-7 CB-11 S-10 If nothing changes and we don't move down for anymore picks, OL, DB and DT will have to wait for undrafted FAs or low-end UFAs.
  18. Gotta come out of this draft with a top WR. If we trade back for more picks, two WRs. Shi Smith is a #4 at best. Marshall is too inconsistent. I like Shenault as a #3. We need a legit rookie that can come in and play opposite of Moore. Targeting a WR with that second pick in the second round, no later than the 3rd round. Rashee Rice, A.T. Perry, Jalin Hyatt, Jacob Cowing or Xavier Hutchinson.
  19. I want Walker to play, but I think he may not be 100% yet. So I would say Darnold. Baker needs to hold a clipboard the rest of the year. I have seen enough. We really don't need to give a 4th rounder either.
  20. Nope. Kid makes bad decisions all the time. He has one of these types of games once in a blue moon. Rattler has a solid arm and can sling it around the field, but that's about the beginning and the end of his traits that would translate to the NFL.
  21. If Richardson goes back to school, there may not be a QB drafted in the second round.
  22. That sucks. He was my 2nd round target if we somehow missed out on Stroud or Young.
  23. As bad as we need a QB, we need a impact TE just as bad. It's going to hurt when he goes to another team. Our only option is a trade back. I wouldn't be opposed to the idea at all.
