Agreed. A first down/short-yardage edge setter isn't the niche you really want in today's NFL. Kinda like being a FB. There's a slim need and you better had be damned good at it.

I don't see it working well at all. He needs to bulk up to play end in the 3-4 or slim down to play LB. He's not quick enough to play OLB, especially at his current weight. Honestly, he looked slow for a DE in the 4-3.

Smith, I think, will play outside. Dude has too much speed to waste sifting through the trash. I would honestly try to trade YGM. He's an oddball at this point. Overall, looks pretty solid.

With the 7 remaining spots I think we bring in an OT, WR, TE, RB, edge/OLB, S and camp kicker.

The defensive front 7 is the real mystery. Which 4-3 DTs are sliding to end? Which 4-3 DEs are moving to OLB? Oustside of that, the depth chart isn't that difficult to predict. Chinn, I think, plays big nickle and primarily is a LB this season.

He's inside the shoulders and the rusher didn't beat him. Holding normally gets called when the hands are outside and the lineman is beat.

If Brown dominates on the outside in this 3-4, his contract will be a nightmare. It's one thing to be a space eater DT, but if he start picking up sacks, the price tag is going to go way up.

The shocking part would have been if the team actually picked up the 5th-year option. Henderson be like:

TE, edge/OLB and CB.

If Hurst plays all 17 games, I say he'll have 3-5 TDs and 400-500 yards. That's decent production, but put a TRUE #1 TE in that spot, those numbers double. I get it, he's a stop gap, but it would have been better to draft a guy this year and get his feet wet working with Hurst. Hopefully we address this issue next draft.

Sure does. So you are saying it takes 6 years for some dudes to get it or or you taking an extreme outlier and trying to make a strong case? Kinda like it takes 7 years to turn a NFL franchise around? In the three years when Hurst opposite an alpha TE on the roster, he took a back seat. The two years (like this year with the Panthers) where he has little competition, he looked decent.

Not saying he's bad, but he's a solid #2 on most teams. I'm glad we have him because our TE room would be complete garbage otherwise. Oh, as far as the Ravens are concerned, they drafted Andrews in the 3rd round the same year and cut bait with Hurst who was their first rounder. That's the reason Hurst was available only after two seasons. Can't have a 3rd rounder showing up your first rounder.

Only started more than 10 games once and only one 500+ yard season. Going into year six and already on his 4th team. Only target more than 40 times in two seasons; the other three seasons averaged two targets per game. What part of any of that screams #1 TE? It's sad that our TE room is so bad people think Hurst is a legit #1 TE. I mean, he's definitely the #1 TE on our team, but that's like saying a person with the highest grade in remedial studies is actually smart.

The talent at TE was better than WR this draft. Desperate for a DJ replacement, the brass made a rash decision. The WR class next year is looking good. Should have gone Edge and TE or vise versa.

Fine...as in ok, mediocre, so-so? I couldn't agree more. Hurst is a #2 on most teams, Thomas will struggle to find work after the Panthers finally ditch him and Tremble is a #3. Lol, you mentioned Sullivan as if he mattered. Don't forget about Ricci!

I've got to admit next year may be a my favorite since we don't have a first rounder. Once we we traded for the #1 pick this year, I basically tuned out the draft. I knew it would turn into a #1 pick circus...and it did. Next year's draft will back to the serious draft folks.

End of August. June 1st cuts can happen anytime before that date. Random releases happen throughout the offseason.

No TE drafted and, while some spots remaining, no UDFAs signed yet either. Are we really rolling with this TE group? If Hurst misses any time, we are screwed. That said, Hurst isn't exactly top-echelon among veteran TEs either. The Ian Thomas experiment has run it's course. Tremble is a H-back. Ricci and Sullivan are STs/practice squad guys. Outside of Thomas being too much of a cap casualty, I can't fathom why he's still here.

Draft sites I visit had Robinson about the 5th best safety and we got him in round 5. Value pick and depth we needed!
