  1. Already made this pun earlier in another thread, but what the heck. Queen City/ Frank Reich--> Queensryche
  2. Tepper is apparently looking for offensive HC and a guy with HC experience. Only Reich and Payton fit the bill. Reich wouldn't cost us any draft capital. So.......
  3. So nobody else? That second round was really short. I have to wonder if they do one more follow up with Wilks and Reich before making the decision. I actually interviewed with a company 4 times, 5 if you count the initial screening interview. It came down to me and another person. The other person ultimately got the spot. That said, I can see one more session with each of those guys...probably virtually, and the decision mulled over the weekend with the announcement coming early next week.,
  4. Detroit is rolling with Goff...100%. Johnson and he clicked and want to run it back, probably the main reason Ben stayed in with the Lions.
  5. Please hire Payton, Broncos organization, before Tepper does something stupid. If there were zero strings attached to Payton, I wouldn't be opposed. The steep buyout and total control is a deal breaker for me.
  6. Houston-rookie Colts-rookie Raiders- FA veteran. Roster is too stacked to wait on a rookie to develop. Falcons-?????????? Who the heck knows. Whispers were they weren't overly impressed with Ridder. Could be a rookie, could be a veteran. Scary enough, we are in the same boat.
  7. Remember how Pederson was an afterthought last coaching cycle and look what he did with the Jags. Stop sleeping on Reich folks.
  8. I like Flowers with the first of the two 2nds. I really want a boundary WR, but there are many more of those than quality slots this draft.
  9. According to the official site, Steichen already has been interviewed. Maybe it was a remote interview and not in person. They only added names interviewed, not speculated. Payton's just got added today.
  10. Yikes, I guess they could cancel, but probably will follow through as a formality.
  11. Is the FO done with the first round of interviews now that Payton's is complete? No more initial ones, just follow up, correct?
  12. Wilks ain't getting a FO position, so he'd have to be hired as a HC elsewhere. I still don't think the interim tag counts. We know the Cardinals are out. If we don't hire him I don't think he's on Denver, Indy's or Texans radar.
  13. Correct, Wilks does not have a permanent title here, so if he get hired elsewhere, no comp pick.
  14. Yep, and the QB that took them to the SB a few years ago and came up just short is getting kicked to the curb too. You are omitting Jimmy G as some afterthought. Dude is 31-years old. While injury prone, he's hardly washed. Yet, the 49ers are still going to move on from him as well---for a seventh round rookie.
  15. Outside of Hooker who's coming off an ACL injury, there's not a QB worth taking in round 2 in this year's draft. Heck, The top four guys in round 1 all have question marks for me. *Yes, AR-15 will be taken in round one because top of the board QBs are ALWAYS over-drafted.
  16. We game up a 3rd for Henderson, multiple early picks for Darnold and both of them had a much larger body of work to show they were likely busts....like LEGIT busts.
  17. Until he loses, he's better than Jimmy G too. The NFL is a results driven League and if Purdy can keep mustering win after win after win, then why would the 49ers put ANYONE other than him in as the starter? I think Purdy is purely a game manager, but as a rookie, that's still pretty darn impressive.
  18. Bledsoe went on to make the Pro Bowl and was 3rd in come back player of the year voting in Buffalo in 2002 too, so it's not like he was completely washed up.
  19. That's the reason the Patriots moved on from Drew Bledsoe too. Sometimes luck and timing are everything, draft position be damned.
  20. Not making it, since he's on IR, is kinda understandable. However, IF they think they have found a hidden gem in Purdy, then why keep Lance around? Contract wise, cap wise, you go with the cheaper option.
  21. So if Lance ends up busting after a fair shot, I'll eat a heaping plate of crow. However, calling a dude a bust after ONLY THREE COMPLETE GAMES is asinine. Lance only started and completed TWO GAMES his rookie year and another half game (Jimmy G injuries). Other than that, he was brought in for a few packages here and there totaling 8 more snaps all season. This season only started ONE GAME, the opener, and got injured in game two. So yeah, there's obviously enough body of work to call the dude a bust.
  22. I couldn't disagree more. Sam just completed year 5 and barely qualifies as a starter in the NFL, more like a quality backup. Calling Lance a bust after a few games is premature and sounds like personal bias.
  23. We moved on from CMC. Sometimes it's about getting at least something in return for a player that's no longer in your plans. If the 49ers think they've found Tom Brady 2.0 (early returns) with Purdy, then keeping Lance with all that draft capital tied up in him on the sidelines is hard to justify. They can get a cheap veteran backup in FA and recoup some draft capital by moving Lance.
  24. What is one thing the winning teams on Sunday have in common? Both team's TEs were the leading receivers in yardage for their respective clubs. But hey, we have THE Ian Thomas, so all is well.
