Only 1/4 of the League has a top 10 drafted starting QB still on their original draft team, but WOW thinks he has this thing figured out. If it were only so simple... Trade up for the QB, bingo--Super Bowl!

You obviously don't understand how the draft works. I also debunked the "every year" thing. Two years doesn't make it "every year". The Saints will give us a run for the division. If we make the playoffs, it will be short lived, only because we won a weak division. I think we are building something here, but my hope is the staff is a little more patient than some of the fans.

People saying we will be too far out of range for a top QB next year. Two first should do the trick and stocked up on picks this draft. #thinkoutsideofthebox

That would have been the draft to do it, 2020. The Jags weren't giving up Trevor at #1 in 2021, so that wouldn't have occurred. Wilson is a bust, Lance is an unknown and Fields is iffy. Plus, Rhule decided to pass on Fields...didn't even have to move up. Last year was one of those QB classes you stay away from. Granted we took a flyer pick with Corral in the 3rd, but no harm done if he flops. I'm just glad be didn't get desperate for Kenny Pickett.

Generalization about "every year" is overreaction. We rightly didn't draft a QB last year in the first round because it was garbage and the previous two years Rhule wanted a veteran. Before then we had Cam since 2011 and didn't need a first round QB. Secondly, this is still not a playoff roster--yet. Next year we will be about a .500 team which will put us drafting in the teens. Also, it will be a deeper QB draft next year where moving all the way up for a solid QB won't be needed. Even so, if Williams or Maye is your target, what's another first rounder in 2026, right? Draft picks are a non-issue when getting your guy...seemingly.

Spoken like playing with house money. Yes, absolutely there is a risk and NONE of these guys close to a sure thing. It would sad, but this board will be crying the blues if we move up, dude looks middling-to-bad and next year's QB class is loaded while we are forced to watch helplessly without a first rounder.

There absolutely is a risk and forfeiting 2024's first rounder (at minimum) is too much to ask. Moving up to #5 is much more palatable. Visit a trade chart and also the QB draft graveyard, then see if the risk of *no matter what* is reality or hyperbole. I mean we can do a Ricky Williams-type trade and move all the way up to #1. I mean, although a RB, dude was a can't miss prospect, right?

You have to hope Irsay gets a man-crush on Levis. Jumping ahead of Indy to get to #3 will be too rich for my taste. Pie-in-the-sky discount scenarios to jump all the way up from #9 is pure pipe dreaming. Indications are the Lions are going to stick with Goff, so we will just have to get ahead of the Raiders at #6.

Ok, we are just going to disagree on this. I ain't changing your mind and you certainly aren't changing mine. Again, the urgency of this fan base is shading the glasses of this QB class more and more rosy. The Burrow comparison did elicit a chuckle, I must confess.

No I don't, but Young is at best somewhere between Tua and Murray and Stroud is a Fields clone. Is that something I'm willing to give up the farm for? No. Pull up our roster and tell me how a rookie QB, even if Stroud or Young (not happening) is making this team better? The pipe dream is Levis and AR not only starting day 1, but also panning out. Neither of those guys are plug/play and will absolutely bust if forced into action prematurely.

It is. Take last year's craptasic QB class as the comparison, sure, it looks fantastic. Stroud and Young are good and AR/Levis are major projects. None are great. Beyond those Hooker would have been a nice fall back play, but the ACL. Go beyond that and most of these guys won't even make a NFL roster after cut downs. People are talking themselves into this being a better QB class than it actually is because we NEED one. I'm willing to bet most of these people on here would not be hyping these guys nearly as hard if we had a solid QB and took a more pragmatic view of these QB prospects.

I hope they stay put then. I know the QB purgatory we've been in and I also understand moving up for a player you really like. It seems, at for the fan base, the first is necessitating the later. Let's just hope the the coaching staff doesn't feel that pressure. If they TRULY, 100% are in love with one of the QBs, then go get him. Moving up because the fans--even David Tepper, are being impatient is the wrong way to go.

You don't win a marathon in the first mile, this is going to take more than the 2023 season. No, not the 7-year Rhule, but 2-3 years. Unless Stroud or Young falls to #9 (not happening) I don't like drafting a QB this year. Too many holes to trade draft capital away and AR/Levis are long term projects at best (likely busts). Don't screw up our cap for a mid-tier, severely overpriced FA. Again, the practical route isn't very sexy, but it's likely the correct one to get this team going in the right direction.

I wonder if Tony Gonzalez wants to break into coaching? He's still in broadcasting, correct? What's Antonio Gates up to these days?

Figures the practical answer would get this response.

If these people--"draft a QB at all costs" looked at the past drafts, they would realize that it's more likely a failed experiment than successful one. Oh, but "look the 2020 draft!!!" there are outliers in statistics for a reason. Cue the "things have changed" or "You have to take a swing" crowd. No, you play the odds and right now we have a first year staff, very incomplete roster, weak QB draft and a couple of FA QBs that have played in the system that Reich uses. This is a very simple answer to me. Take off the QB blinders and see the big picture folks.

Possibly, but if they have a QB sitting there when they pick, I don't think Mac Jones is going to stop them. Even if they trade for Jones, I doubt they are set with him being their QB of the future--rather a taking a swing and see what happens. Again, they have Stidham right now, they HAVE to do something. Jones would be an upgrade, but that's not saying much.

Fred Smoot was his favorite one, though.
