  1. This is the best one yet. Not sure whether to call it my masterpiece, but pretty darn close.
  2. The chart largely shows teams that have their franchise QBs and has complete trust in their abilities run, run, pass the least.
  3. Young/Stroud go top 4 and we are not moving into the top 3. I am not high on Levis nor AR. I hope all the QB needy teams ahead of us get nervous and start leapfrogging one another and by #9, all four are gone. I's rather take a flyer pick on Hooker in the 2nd than Levis or AR.
  4. Ugh, the drop off from Olsen/Shockey to Thomas/Tremble is nauseating. Almost 1,000 yards vs. 371 yards...12 y/r vs. 9 y/r...9 TDs to 3 TDs...32 y/g to 11 y/g.
  5. Preach it man, I still don't understand why some teams *cough* Panthers *cough* don't value/no longer value the TE position. Even still, outside of a select team or two--Ravens come to mind, teams don't even bother to invest in a solid #2. Olsen and Shockey were a stud duo!
  6. The bold is where I see these guys going. IMO, we GOT to get one of these guys before the 4th.
  7. Thomas needs to be just earmarked a June 1 cut and be done with him, especially if we sign a top end FA and draft a day 2 TE. At that point, he's just an expensive backup.
  8. I hear ya Captain Obvious, but $40M versus, say, $15M is pretty significant considering their comparable stats aren't all that different.
  9. Uh no. Dude was out of football last year and put up marginal stats even when in the League.
  10. Young and Stroud, agreed, but not on AR. Dude passed for more than 250 yards exactly 3 times in his career and a 54% career completion rate. He has two marquee games to his resume. AR has exactly ONE game with greater than 61% completion rate when attempting more than 10 passes. Yes, he has several games where 10 or less passes were attempted which actually artificially inflates his already questionable 54% rate. Example: 1 of 1 for 100%
  11. So following up on the above post, Brissett has about half the starts as Carr. Comparing apples to apples, there actually isn't a significant difference between the two. Carr is marginally better in a few categories, BUT $40M is a lot of cap space when a player with insignificantly inferior stats could be had at a FRACTION of the cost. Plus, and this is the most important part, Brissett already knows Reich's system.
  12. Brissett has largely been a backup, so of course his stats are going to pale to a guy that has started his entire career. Do an apples to apples comparison. I'll take a look too.
  13. To me a 'point guard' QB is effective in seeing the entire field and anticipating passing lanes while delivering crisp/precise passes. No different that a real point guard, just the playing scale is much more reduced in basketball. What I get out of that is Richardson is NOT that guy, neither is Levis for that matter. Keeping with the basketball theme, a Richardson-type PG may cross people up and wow with ball handling skills, while being able to drain the periodic deep 3-pointer. His assists, however, are very subpar compared to his cohorts.
  14. Only tipping of the hand is if we go all-in on a bona fide QB1. Signing anything less than Rogers, Jimmy G., Jones, Jackson or Carr does not preclude us drafting a QB. Yes, I totally expect us to sign a FA QB. We'd be stupid not to.
  15. ^^^Bingo. Also why I am against moving up as well. If a QB falls to #9, then take a swing if they want to, but losing draft capital (all of it which we need) for the next two drafts when it's not for a Burrow/Luck/Lawrence-type QB is a losing proposition to me.
  16. This knowing he'd be starting at least some games with Watson's pending suspension on the horizon and still only signed a deal for $4.6M deal. I don't think $10M-$15M for a open competition at QB1 is unreasonable. The Panthers won't make him the unquestioned QB1 at the negotiating table, that would drive up the price.
  17. No. Dude is a complete headcase. Can he still play? Yes. Is his heart still in it? No. He's in a short-term money grab position and why the Jets are the perfect suckers--uh, team to trade for him.
  18. We have got to sign a FA, there's no way around it. There is not a day 1 QB in this draft, Young being the closest. That being said, the choice is a stop gap or go big for a guy that can be effective and lead this team to heights not seen in many years. The Bridgewater, Darnold, Mayfield model of 'salvage' QBs is done. It's either a guy who is a mid-tier QB who can bridge the gap for a rookie for a couple of years while keeping the club competitive or shell out the big bucks for a known commodity. Those are the options.
  19. Both. It doesn't have to be a high price veteran and signing a FA doesn't prevent drafting one either. Lots guys available in FA with plenty of tread left on the tires and can be had reasonably. No need to get a top 5 TE in FA.
  20. Please, please. please, please!!!! As soon as his jersey number is announced, IMMEDIATELY buying a jersey. I don't even care if it's a one-year rental.
  21. Reich said in his presser yesterday that the TE coach would be named in 24-48 hours, so maybe some news on that front today. This needs to happen, because he also said the entire staff is assembling this week to assess the roster. The TE coach will be getting a bit of a late start.
  22. The Colts got to the playoffs with Rivers. So your list is a bit skewed. It's all a risk, but saying drafting is less risky by listing FAs that have failed would be like me posting a page of first round QB busts to prove my point. I think if the coaches feel more comfortable getting a FA QB that they think would fit their system more so than a rookie first round QB, then so be it.
  23. Amazing how people automatically assume drafting a first round QB is a shoo-in solution. It's an easy solution, but not even close to a sure thing. The recency bias of the QB success from the 2020 draft is skewing people's perception of YEARS of data showing extremely high bust rates among first round QBs. In a typical year, ONE QB--at most, drafted in the first ends up not being a bust. So either we have to be damn sure we get the correct one or hope this QB class is not a typical year.
