  1. Strip-sack on every hit. And I was worried about him staying healthy. Survival mechanism; drop the ball and the defenders won't pile on top of you.
  2. Take a shot every time this happens...uh, crap, I might run out of liquor!
  3. So far the defensive struggle I was thinking about.
  4. Bryce missed a wide open target on the scramble left. He tried to hit the inside guy, but the outside guy was wide open.
  5. Pick 6 on the first play. Must have been thinking of that rub down after the game.
  6. He would have to sustain a bad injury or have an off the field issue to drop like that. Even if his stats are just mediocre this season, he still won't fall out of the first round.
  7. Last draft. Yup, I was. A year or two doesn't make it an annual exercise though. That would be TE, truth be told, which dates back to 2018 for me and until Ickey, since 2013 for an OT. THAT is an annual exercise. Again, there's not a ton of underclassmen in this draft as opposed to last year and the few that are the top of the board absolutely will declare. Williams and Maye are not going back to school. Ewers, maybe, but then you have a slew of Seniors (red shirts, true, 5th year) and graduate students. There is little reason for them to return even if they are eligible for one more season.
  8. ^^^This. Noting against Bryce and I hope he ends up being our guy for the next 10 years, but man I wish we held our water for one more year, especially if he doesn't pan out.
  9. Never liked any of those dudes as prospects, personally.
  10. Wilis and Corral, lol? Howell has yet to be seen over an entire season, but has been okay so far with a small sample size. Question, have you even looked at next year's QB class. While being sarcastic, you are right, it really is loaded.
  11. If that's the consensus between his camp and the Panthers, a mid-season trade makes sense. Better to get something rather than nothing. We may not get the haul that the Rams were offering us, but if we can at least recoup one first rounder, preferably next year's when we lack one, that's nothing to sneeze at.
  12. Among the talking heads, sure it happens every year. I've been in this boat for only two seasons prior. I was willing to give Teddy a shot was lukewarm about Darnold. When we brought in Sam is when I started sniffing around drafting a QB.
  13. I don't think people realize how talented and deep this next QB class is. Most of the guys after the top two or three have no-to-little eligibility remaining, so the volume of QBs returning next year will be way less than this year. That's what gutted the QB class this year after the top guys, nearly the rest of the guys after the first round prospects returned to school. So many of these guys have tons of starts under their belts and there may a few 'Brock Purdy's' in the mid-to-late rounds. Not to mention the obvious that the top of the class isn't too shabby either.
  14. Sorry, but he's a one-year rental. If dude is at least 80%, he should be on the field. Otherwise he's just collecting paychecks until his ouchy is 100% better. With dude's injury history, he may not be 100% healthy all season.
  15. Yep and next draft was the "this year" for me. I just hope with the patchwork offensive supporting cast, there's enough for Young to work with and not stymie his development. Right now our WRs are getting about as much separation as Siamese twins.
  16. We could have used that draft ammunition this year and next. Would we have to trade up next year for a QB if we went the weapons route instead drafting Bryce? Sure, but the loss of future draft stock would have been in 2025 and beyond when the team would be more complete. I totally get why we were impatient and went QB this draft, losing sucks especially amid roster uncertainty, but I honestly feel we jumped the gun by a season.
  17. Or the supporting cast is so bad that you ruin the rookie. I think Bryce is stronger than that, at least hopefully, but that's the reason rookies plopped onto decent teams generally fair better than clubs that draft a QB during either a full-blown or partial rebuild.
  18. ^^^This. We needed to build this offense and drop in a rookie next year. This is not a shot at Bryce, but this offense was always going to be a major 'work in progress' this year and make it that much more difficult for a rookie QB; Young or any other of his fellow QBs in this draft had we gone that path.
  19. Ouch, people can't really defend this guy anymore. Yes, he's on a bad team and yes, the Bears have struggled to get him weapons, but damn, you can't miss that read.
  20. I got it. The kid had potential and I totally agree, but scouting is an inexact science. Like you said he was trending up, but a lot of kids trend up during their college careers. It's cases like this where hindsight is 20/20, 'man, how did this guy slip through the cracks.?' How many other flyer picks never work out though? Answer is: countless. I mean, Tyreek Hill was a 5th rounder.
  21. Quietly, I like the subtle depth signings of some vets for cheap. That being Justin Houston, Deion Jones, Chris Wormley, and Tarik Cohen. All have had success in the League and are coming back from injury. If they can get even close to their former level of play prior to injury, these will be some sneaky good signings.
  22. Yep. Planning on hitting up two places (one brewery, one craft brew bar) a quick dinner (probably Mexican) and then coming home to watch the game and polish off some more craft beer in the fridge; hoping the Panthers win and I don't feel like arse going to work in the morning.
  23. I know traditionally they are made with lamb, but I prefer gyros with beef or chicken. Yes, they are delicious.
