Other games 11/17, got some good ones today
chbright replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Dustin Hopkins knows the drill, 3 missed FGs at the dome. he's tanking for the browns. please let him get the aints a win so we pick ahead of them. the browns are able to move the ball but cant finish. winston doing his thing though. the browns will get wins with winston. -
yeah Frazier was my dude. strong nasty, technical C. lots of playing time. but got a RB for a few games this year and 3 mnore years after. oh and signed a RB long term this year too. brooks got to be damn good for that to be worth it now. and while i think he can be a bellcow, it make investing in all the RBs vs other area an issue. we have one of the better lines atm. if it was frazier at C, my goodness we would be set for a long while. this year has a 2 OC im looking at Jake Majors , and Bryce Foster (massive, nasty streak, really want)

Really low bar of 220ypg in year 2 So on that list its (11): Mayfield Lawrence Goff Carr Herbert Darnold Stafford (2nd healthy year, far over in rookie year) Burrow Purdy Mahomes Stroud (so far in 2024) not on 2024 of 220ypg+ list but 31 or under and did in year 2 (5 Murray Winston Watson Lock Mariota so what 16? That list has some duds there too. Also, it's passing some old dudes (Dalton, Flacco). It passes late start guys: Love, Rogers (old), Cousins (old). It passes Prescott (many over 220) and Wilson (many over 220) who were over 200 but not 220. also Jackson, an MVP that Young wont sniff as a runner to augment the rushing yards. J. Allen who jump came year 3, but had rushing yards in year 2 that Young wont. the list of more than 180 ypg in year #1 while starting 10+ games is larger young had 5 of 16 games with over 200..... less than 1/3 were 200+ yards........ its a problem. glad he had a game where he didnt totally fug up. but we are still needing a lot more the 2nd half of the year.

we have both been on the huddle for the teflon john era, its now teflon bryce era. what ever it is (other rookies, the OL, OC/HC, scrub WRS) there is someone else to blame for the sub par performance.
-
eh, would not shock me if 1 of the top 3 QBs works out between Ward (successful in 3 stops already), Ewers, or Sanders. i still have doubts on all 3 atm, but lots of games left.
-
eh depends on the cost and what the selection is. ward, sanders, ewers are the only ones in play right now imo. as of today, im not moving up for any of that lot. but there is a lot of games left to see what they all do as the pressure mounts for them all. then again i was all for standing pat in 2023 and not making the trade. let a non QB come on down and ride sam/walker+1 for another year and build up. gosh how that could have been. stroud may have been worth the cost, idk.

the fact this is lost on so many is infuriating. all pick have risk its a given, but getting all the earliest picks you can means you get to set yourself with the best opportunity to get it right. we screwed up last time, royally. does not mean we will again. hell the texans showed what you can do with 2 early picks in 2023........

Evero hate is maddening. we have 0 offense and its Evero's fault all the time that his bunch of rejects from the couch are getting burned. think if we find the mythical starting QB thats eluded us for nearing a decade (yeah 2015 level cam is not a decade away), and evero gets to draft some help on defense, there is a chance this team is ok. knew going into the year the d was sus and the offense hinged on bryce. bryce got a 2nd W but it was ugly.
-
Hey at least we didn't go paying Daniel Jones. Both QBS are backup level.
-
Ok evero, you know the drill here. Need to keep the draft capital stocked.
-
And rightfully so. AA doesn't fug around and wait when he finds a good player. Hope they do the same with Coker. Wouldn't let him get close to his first FA.
-
Coker is legit. He's a #3 maybe even #2. Glad canales gave him a shot.
-
With the full room at RB can we look somewhere else for a KR than Blackshear? Was never impressed as a KR in college even.
-
and SMU likely Pitt. but Miami is the ACC chosen ones. big 12 is charmin without the blue bloods this year.
-
somehow they would draw the ACC winner and the fans get a pillow fight. the winner would claim they belonged too
-
classic VT there under Pry. such a tease and then flame out spectacularly. add another one to the video files of lucky TD. right there with matt ryan's to end it at BC
-
so if Texas wins the SEC then the SEC sucks to?
-
i wish, but no way. dabo gonna just go old school and grind this out on the ground. i dont think this is the clemson or vt of old, but dabo will just go to the rb well that vt cannot stop all dang year. pry vs dabo is no contest, ill take dabo 99 outa 100 times. hope this is the 1 time we can catch him with pry at HC.
-
nah its a one score game, clemson has this. VT cannot win a 1 score game under Pry.
-
or maybe we should give lineman more than a season to judge them? why us that not common place. i remember this place's vitriolic hate for Evan Mathis. a guy that went off to play well in miami, cincy, and ascended to best guard for 3 years in philly and fell off to #2 his 4th year there. give cade a little more time. he need a little more seasoning.
-
ewers is still my guy this draft. he isnt perfect by any means but he can sling it. if anything the stinker, against uga helps lower the stock and im ok with that. cant give him a pass, but expecting him to be blowing people away every game isnt a fair standard either. hes showing again how dominant he can be, even when he lost a bunch of 1st and 2nd round nfl guys each of the last 2 years. love to pair him with XL, coker, j. sander, and 1 more true WR. he would be just fine behind this line. helps the shark is there as coach, think he's an NFL OC mind that is loving life as the Texas HC, and the shark may never leave that spot cause its $$$$$, NIL $$$$$$$$$, and blue chip program. really its going to come down to post season play on the stock watch. another stinker against NFL talent and its going to drop ewer's stock again. and yes manning would be a great pickup, but he's not eligible. if ewers has a good post season like stroud, he will lock in my #1 QB pick. that postseason locked me in on stroud, and ewers will get the opportunity barring injury or another really bad game. think ewers and stroud got over analyzed due to prospect fatigue where we're more apt to downgrade due to a bad game as they have been good/great so often.
-
this is the #1 guy i want to sign for a clipboard role or flier as a starter. if he hits great if not, it doesnt matter. but the talent and arm are there. idk if it ever clicks but its the size/age/arm you drool over. lance i worry more about with the system he was in is really QB friendly but again, i always thought he was a huge project. again all the tools you could ever want. add lock into that talk too, but lesser degree. fields i could see being a guy that if he keeps working is dynamite later as a passer but always a disappointment cause he was sooooooooo hyped in college/HS. Fields, Wilson, Lance, then Lock, in that order. get 1 minimum. hell i'd go for 2 and a rookie and let them all battle it out. if 1 of the 3 pans out, the $ of all three is still lower than a top guy gets anyways. if none do, cut bait when the contracts end in 3 years or the weakest link quickly and try again. hate we draft meh talent other than Cam or Collins way back when.

Lost in that is the absolute terrible game ending INT that the all pro Hamilton dropped. threw a few that were absolutely terrible into coverages where the DB had a line on the ball and just dropped it. Jameis is hoot. When he is let loose, he will put on a show. Might be great or absolute trainwreck but its a show. Got to see that game live and it was wild. Would I take Jameis over our QB room, yes!

Dave Canales is one and done.... part 2.
chbright replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
Defense is a bunch of guys off the street practice squad? Don't think it saves Evero or Canales it all really starts with Morgan and Tepper on the coach/roster anyways. the offense did look functional for 2.5 games with an old ass Dalton. 3.5 if we count the seattle game last year. then again, not really needing to teach that old dog any tricks. my 1 pause is that we didn't give Joe Brady enough time and he does look better in Buffalo than his predecessors. that's not to say Canales must get more time. guess I'm numb to keeping or firing Canales. At this time, I can see it fall either way based on performance and past track records with Tepper. still likely won't keep people from wanting the job because there are so few of them. so another turnover of the staff wouldn't move the needle IMO on people not wanting to take the HC role.
