  1. Carolina Panthers to work out UFL's Offensive Player of the Year Hakeem Butler by:Nikki Chavanelle•about 2 hours Steven Bisig/USA TODAY Sports The Carolina Panthers are expected to host the UFL’s Offensive Player of the Year Hakeem Butler before wrapping up minicamp, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. Butler is coming off of an impressive season with the St. Louis BattleHawks during which he posted 45 catches for a league-best 652 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He earned the OPOY award and a spot on the all-league team as well. Last year, Butler had 51 receptions for 599 yards and eight touchdowns for the BattleHawks. The team released him, freeing him up to sign on to the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad. Butler was a fourth-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Iowa State. He spent his rookie year with the Arizona Cardinals but broke his hand leading to his release before the 2020 season. He then signed for the 2020 campaign with the Carolina Panthers practice squad. It was a short-lived stint, however, as he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles days later.
  2. Not a good sign for Eddy P returning next season.
  3. It wouldn’t be a stretch to conclude that Tepper, Fitterer and the rest of the FO had the same idea last year. At least we ditched that flawed approach and appear to be heading in the right direction.
  4. A HOF QB would’ve struggled mightily with the sh—-show we had on offense last year. We can only hope that nightmare of a season won’t permanently kill his confidence. I do believe the kid will be a good player for us.
  5. Must be a Cowboys’ fan. Eat your heart out, Jerry Jones!!!
  6. Yeah people seem to go too far with the David Tepper hate. The real story is actually quite funny.
  7. According to the Bleacher, the 2025 NFL draft is deep @ OT, CB and Edge Rusher. Depending on how our season goes, we’ll have opportunities to upgrade significantly at these positions next year. https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/10118514-2025-nfl-mock-draft-brs-way-too-early-predictions.amp.html
  8. No surprises here. This was likely a good business decision despite Horn’s health concerns. He’s a really good player if he can ever stay on the field.
  9. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/40014492/reggie-bush-heisman-trophy-returned Sorry for the typo in the subject line. Not Panthers-related but sports newsworthy.
  10. Would love to see us go with an alternate blue helmet and uniform. Then we’d be set. The Broncos new uni’s are meh but the Texans new threads are terrible IMO. The black uni’s are too similar to the Falcons. They would’ve done well to stick to or create some variation of the red alternates.
  11. His number in college. He and Lewis wore #68 for their previous teams but was already taken by Cade Mays. Lewis ended up negotiating with Mays for that #. Will be weird but if he plays up to his contract we’ll get used to it.
  12. This right here ^. I had read from a few sources that this was their approach going in, so this is not a surprise.
  13. I would take this all day any day. A+ grade on Day 2 if it fell this way. 33 - CAR - Zach Frazier G/C West Virginia 6’3 316 39 - CAR - Marshawn Kneeland EDGE Western Michigan 6’3 267 65 - CAR - Trey Benson RB FSU 6’0 220 or Xavier Legette WR South Carolina 6’1 221 Ben Sinnott TE Kansas State 6’4 240 in the 4th round would be icing on the cake.
  14. Just read up on his list of Centers and I’m completely sold on Zach Frazier unless Graham Barton or prime Edge rusher somehow tumbles. I think he has Pro Bowl potential and that ‘dawg’ mentality Morgan is looking for.
  15. I think we should target a CB in the later rounds also as insurance for Horn.
  16. I agree but only if JPJ comes off the board in R1. And I think we can get Frazier @ 39 if we go BPA WR or CB @ 33. Either way we can’t lose.
  17. Don’t forget Corbett is in the last year of his contact and coming off 2 major knee injuries. It would be prudent to draft his replacement this year if possible to keep continuity on the OL going into next season and beyond.
  18. I’m a Clemson fan but I would absolutely love to hear his name called with one of our 2nd round picks (preferably #39). Watch him play a few times last season and he’s the real deal.
  19. https://theathletic.com/5394632/2024/04/08/nfl-mock-draft-2024-quarterbacks-drake-maye/?source=user_shared_article Not bad but based on this mock my perfect draft would be: #33 - Darius Robinson Edge/DE/Mizzou Jackson Powers-Johnson/C/Oregon (depends on which one Detroit goes with) #39 - Xavier Legette/WR/UofSC #65 -Peyton Wilson/LB/NCST
  20. Reading Gantt’s take on this is quite encouraging. Good to see the front office taking a fiscally responsible approach to FA. It’s a refreshing change from year’s past.
  21. Would be interesting but Staley will never leave USC for the pro. She’s got too sweet of a deal there.
  22. Probably more about scheme fit than anything else. He played better IMO in 4-3 the prior year as SLB. Not sure if that’s the reason he seemed slow last season or not. Could explain why the Panthers let him walk.
  23. Yeah more of a professional courtesy I’d say. This appears to be more of a “mutual parting” for Cliff and the organization in general. We definitely need new blood and a different energy going forward.
  24. That’s the dilemma though. If Bryce is not successful, the Panthers aren’t successful. And we’ve invested too much already to help him succeed. It wouldn’t make sense to invest all that on blocking but not other players that would fit what our QB does well.
