  1. If anything good comes out of Johnson backing out, it’s not having to read idiotic posts from Cdparr7.
  2. This as fans it’s easy to forget the human element in all of this.
  3. The herd is thinning. Seems like we’re down to Payton, Wilks or Steichen. And neither are guarantees.
  4. Well this day has certainly taken an interesting turn
  5. Imagine that huh? Never understood that decision.
  6. I wouldn’t want to give up two second rounders. However, The Athletics’ mock makes the most sense.
  7. Would be nice if Wilks could bring him aboard. For years, GA relied on a run heavy offense but under with Monken they’ve developed a passing game that has made them more potent on offense. That’s what Wilks needs to complement our rushing attack if he has any shot of being retained IMO. And that’s a big IF based on recent developments.
  8. Dorsey is not ready for HC IMO. This has been a good game but Allen is taking way too many hits on these long developing pass plays. And they’ve almost completely abandoned the running game.
  9. I wonder how much the discrimination lawsuit is playing into the lack of interest in Wilks? Many teams may balk at the idea of paying someone in the midst of suing the League. JMO
  10. One had to wonder. Strange move by the Jets but it seems OC’s are getting the ax nowadays. He would be the ideal OC for Wilks if he gets the job. The 49ers’ offense is a model of who we want to be: a physical smashmouth running with a complimentary passing game. Being a pupil of K Shanahan, I can see the same system working nicely here.
  11. I’m all for a smashmouth running game but we absolutely have to have an equally potent passing attack. We’re too one dimensional and predictable with our current playcalling/personnel. Same is true with our defense.
  12. Agree on the ball hawking FS but Chinn is NOT a LB. His best position is an in-the-box SS for run defense, blitzing and some coverage e.g. TE. He’s not a FS as he’s below average in coverage. The sooner we can get a bonafide FS the better and the sooner we. An play Chinn at his natural position.
  13. We’ve had a pretty good head start after firing Rhule. I’m sure they’ve used the time for extensive background checking and researching to narrow down which candidates they want to bring in.
  14. Guilty…I selected Piniero when I really meant to choose Gonzalez to be cut. I like them both but can’t see how we choose the latter after he ending the last two seasons on IR.
  15. Even if Tabor isn’t retained (and I really hope he is as our ST has been outstanding), I don’t see why or how we cut Piniero. He’s been money since the Atlanta game. And Gonzalez, though a good K, has been on IR the past two seasons due to non-contact injuries, which makes availability a major question mark at this point.
  16. The height thing was definitely overblown. I guess the scouts never heard of Fran Tarkenton, Doug Flutie or Drew Brees. It’s not a stretch that Howell could have similar success.
  17. I wouldn’t go that far but I saw enough during his time at UNC to know he’d be a good one. At worst, he would’ve been a better backup and potential future starter. And a major draw as a local kid. Of course, he may have looked as bad as Corral with Rhule at the helm but I digress.
  18. How Rhule, Fitt and co allowed themselves to take Corral over Howell is beyond me. Always thought this kid would be a good one in time.
  19. Piniero hands down. Gonzalez is good but he’s finished the last two seasons on IR due to non-contact injuries. That’s not good. The best ability is availability. We can’t afford to be in a similar situation that we faced in Buffalo last season. And Eddie has been money for us since the Atlanta game. It’s a no-brainer IMO.
  20. I agree that Johnston would be a good selection. And we should take him if he falls to us. But several outlets I’ve read consider Robinson as probably the best overall player in this draft. If he’s BPA and a blue chip prospect, then he’ll be considered a top #10 pick. And for a team that plays the style we play, a bell cow RB that’s also a good receiver on a rookie contract is not bad value.
  21. Levis, B Robinson, Johnston or trade back. TE @ #9 is not a good value. Either them would vastly improve our offense.
