Randy Mueller in Athletic on Tepper and Bryce
Prowler2k18 replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
This seems to be another Tepper shortcoming: too much reliance on analytics when good old fashioned common sense is needed. -
I’m slightly intrigued by Frank Smith. Dynamic play caller of one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, with a QB of similar pedigree and physical limitations and experience coaching different offensive units in New Orleans and Los Angeles Chargers. Worked his way up through the ranks and certainly earned his stripes. He’d be worth looking at for sure.

As he should. This fiasco is ultimately his fault. The team has been mismanaged from the beginning of his ownership with no clear end in sight.

And the hits keep coming…..

In fairness it’s hard to tackle when you’re being held. -

Unbelievable….we get called for defensive holding with all kind of holding that helped them score SMDH -

The refs have missed several obvious holding penalties all afternoon. -
I agree with everything you wrote. What if Frank is no longer motivated to stick it out? What if problem could be Frank’s heart is no longer in it? When you listen to his press conferences and check his demeanor on the sidelines, not to mention the in-game errors that a veteran coach shouldn’t be making, it just seems that something is definitely off. If there’s rising tension between the owner and HC, and Tepper is not known for being patient with HC’s, a parting of the ways sooner rather than later might be an eventuality.

[GRAPH] Bryce's accuracy + separation for WRs

Ironic since his “processing” was supposed to be a major asset. Just goes to show you can’t expect a rookie to be a savior, especially with so little help on offense. -
Daniel Jeremiah on Panthers Offense/Bryce

Yup that seems to be the Panthers’ way. Square peg meet round hole. -

NE’s offense is nothing to write home about either. May have more to do with Mac Jones’ struggles and BB’s days for retirement drawing closer. I’d hate it for Thomas Brown if this were to happen. -
BREAKING: Panthers cut starting O-lineman

Wow….there’s a surprise. Had a good rookie season but apparently fell out of favor with the emergence of Hall. Hope we at least kick the tires on him. -

They also released Deonte Brown aka “Big Bread” from the practice squad. Another failed draft pick by the prior regime. -
Enjoying a Sunday without this Sh*tshow.

Felt real good watching a whole afternoon of professional football for a change, without being in a bad mood afterwards due to the ineptitude that is the Carolina Panthers. It was good while it lasted….next up: the Dallas Cowboys -

Packers-Steelers is a good one. Nice to spend Sunday watching good teams play. On another note, the Packers would be best served to find another QB in the offseason. Jordan Love ain’t it. He shows flashed but too inconsistent.
-
The results were the same - we lost
-
Have to disagree. I’m not sure any QB, let alone a rookie, would succeed with this poorly built roster and whatever offense system where trying to run.
-
Couldn’t agree more. I really feel sorry the kid. He could be great in the right system. The Panthers are going to deep-six his career b4 it gets started good.

When you look back at our most successful campaigns, the Panthers are best with a power running offense and efficient passing complemented by great defense and solid special teams play. That approach has epitomized the “KEEP POUNDING” mantra that has been our battle cry. I’ll never understand this drive to embrace the WCO when we simply don’t have the personnel to execute it effectively. Rhule attempted a similar approach with Joe Brady from LSU and it failed miserably. We’re just not built for it and frankly this has never been what Panthers’ football is all about. Teams like Alabama (where Bryce Young became a star), 49ers, Seahawks, etc. have figured out how to maintain strong power running offenses with complementary passing that makes them hard to beat. Why is it so hard for the Panthers to do the same?
-
To me, Reich bears the brunt of the responsibility (as he should) for trying to run an offense that our personnel is not suited for. Why we haven’t crafted an offense similar to what Bryce ran at Alabama is beyond me. We’re going to kill this kid’s confidence, if not literally get him killed, a la David Carr if something is not done to right the ship.
-
I keep thinking to myself “we can’t be this bad”. But apparently we are. This is a nightmare.
-
I think the Bears want to lose this game. They’re rebuilding as we should and need that high draft pick.
-
Yup. Another talented Carolina team being wasted by lousy coaching. And btw - we’re not getting sht from our bench. Which is slightly more than we’re getting from our team defense.
