Which is exactly why this is not illegal. Fixing outcomes of an entertainment business is not illegal. People just need to decide whether they want the NFL to denigrate itself or call the NFL out. I'm glad more people are talking about it because it is going to get worse before it gets better.

If the goal is to actually hire Payton the delay may be to allow Payton to get the saints to come down on trade costs for Panthers vs. other teams. Payton and the saints clearly are not on the same page regarding compensation. No reason to interview if cost is 2 firsts. But more likely it is a result of multiple factors including the tragedy and the training issue and others not reported. Personally, I don't think Payton wants to coach the Panthers (#feelingismutual) and is just using Panthers to increase bargaining/offers and Panthers are using situation to increase attractiveness of their HC position.

By "hate" I am referring to those who have given up on his potential. Not personal hatred. stbugs (who I almost always agree with on here) said in an earlier post "That’s one reason I’m not a Corral fan at all, because he had that same look in preseason." So that prompted my take. I'm sure a search would pull up much harsher and less thought out takes on Corral though.

I just don't get the Corral hate. Or the Willis hate, frankly. Both were drafted as projects. I like our project much better than Willis simply on the fact that Corral is a leader on the field and demonstrated that aspect of his game many times in college. But still too early for titan fans to give up on Willis, imo. Corral got to play in part of two preseason games on a team set up and orchestrated by Matt Rhule and spent a lot of time running for his life before his injury. I get giving up on Zach Wilson because of his attitude and inability to lead an offense. The fact he was drafted #2 overall sucks for them but they are close enough to see just how bad that aspect of his game has been demonstrated. I still like the Corral pick and expect him to ball out next year and push whoever we bring in.

I get the feeling that Wilks spends a lot of time with the defense and essentially covers for Holcomb being in over his head. I am pro Wilks but we need new DC and OC.

I was as happy as any to see our dominant run game but as many posters pointed out, how much of that success was on the total failure of the lions D? Huge holes at point of contact, missed tackles and leaving safeties to seal off. It was a joy to see but can we count on that level of ineptitude Sunday? I hope this team can put together back to back performances like that and not pull another steelers or bengals game this week in Tampa. Signs point in our favor with Tampa banged up but they still have some weapons on D and I can't see them playing as anemically as the lions did in that first half.

Wilks will be in demand not just for interviews (Rooney) but for leading this team post Rhule. Clearly this is where he wants to coach but any and all openings will have his name attached and there is only so many ways to say no till we put a ring on it.
