It strikes me as a little premature to label Corral as a boom, back-up, or bust based on what was a little bit above as one half of a preseason game on a Rhule coached team. Just give him a fair shake & let the chips fall. What ends up is a guess on how it turns out, but it would be wise to find out. IMO

I was looking forward to the 2023 season without having to see Sam or Baker in a Panther's uniform ever again & in some ways PJ too. Corral , first round rookie, & a good vet to show both of them the ropes [sans Rhule] works very well for me, IMO. As of today, I wouldn't mind keeping PJ as that good vet.

Basically just about every player on team. But more important is the fans who can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. although it's still pretty far away, but you can see it now!!

How would you guys feel about keeping Darnold as a long term backup
nogoodbum replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Everybody ,fans, coaches, & GMs, have seen years of Darnold in college & pros, with different OCs, HCs, systems, & teams. There comes a time when you have to walk away from the craps table & come back another day, IMO. -
My tin foil hat alter-ego tells me McAcadoo was going to be fired if he repeated calling plays versus Rams against Tampa. Hope he learned his lesson. Panthers 27- Atlanta 14

Would you preferred Ben Navarro bought Panthers in 2018 ?

I don't begrudge Tepper's billions, almost all billionaires money was gotten via someone else's money or sweat [old money & new money]. I do question his ignoring history in his football decisions. Coming in with experience from the part ownership of the Steelers, he ignored the fact that they had GMs that were in the better half of the NFL. Firing Riveria & keeping Hurley belied the fact that RR had some modest success with both Hurley & Gettleman. Hurley should have been replaced in the first month after buying team. I am not saying he should have kept RR, but relying on Hurley with his history of non-success is questionable at best. Could he have fixed RR's flaw of over-loyalty to some people despite their short-comings? If you recall prior to the first draft under Tepper, he in public stated that the draft should be D-line, O-line, & back-up QB. Of course Hurley [as the perfect yes-man] did exactly that. Burns in the first, [continuing his first round good-fortune], Little in the second [trading up to over-draft what should have been at best a late 3rd or 4th rounder], & Grier in the 3rd [a UDFA at best despite having two what has been proven to be two of the better back-ups on the roster [Allen & Heinke]]. The last thing as an owner you need is a GM or HC who runs a team that agrees and acts by what you want not what is best for the team. Tepper should have seen Hurley's yes-man antics & fired Hurley the first day after the draft. Then he piled on more bad decisions by hiring Rhule, giving him a huge contract, & total control over the team. You can count on one hand how many times this worked in the past 30yrs [college coach, contract, or control [take your pick]. There's on old adage: you don't give a $20 hooker a C-spot because she talks about how big you are [Hurley] or propose to her because she convinces you how good you are in the bedroom [Rhule] -
Factor in the night versus day difference in QB play & OC play calling + versus against a weaker than usual this year run defense.

Which 2 firsts? 2 in 2023 draft or a 2023 & 2024? An early 23 & possibly late 24? A late 23 & late 24? Any trade that includes late first calls for at least a 2nd [both late] or a 3rd [one early-one late] IMO
-
Not a bad trade if you consider where we're at, what we got, & where we're going. I am just glad Hurley [the 1st round only pick guru] & Rhule's [fingers in everything] stench will not be anywhere the next draft. Hopefully Fitterer can come thru. Don't discount Morgan's input.

We improved the staff, so WTF is going on?

Sometimes when you s**t the bed you can't just change the sheets but have to get a new mattress, pillows. blankets, and even the drapes and carpet to get rid of the stink. -
Act like Olsen but give ball to a kid in the stands.

4PM starts are put there to increase inventory for showing on network's double header Sundays.

Actually this may help Corral in a twisted sort of way. It gives him a year to learn the playbook & the other players & coaches on the team. Gives him a year to impress the present HC, OC, & QBC in case any are here in the future. While the NFL may limit his practice while with team [wink-wink], he can hone his skills elsewhere. Hopefully he will not show up next year looking like 'KB' shape. We may see what he is made of as a result. Also this gives Rhule an out to keep PJ [on the practice squad if he has any smarts left in him] & retain on of his players his ego is too big to cut. Thanks for the read.

When and/or will there be a rebroadcast on Sat. or Sun.? I have obligations that will mean I will miss end of first & all of second half. I hate doing something halfway, although two ex-wives will state differently.

Compared to the last two QB trades this is much much better. Will Mayfield be great, average, or so-so? Who knows. At least this trade leaves enough meat on this year's salary cap bone to possibly add another upgrade elsewhere.

Too much invalid comparision [spelling] of #s with Italy & SK. Not only do they both have a much older average age of the population but possibly more important, a very much higher rate of multi-generational households.
