  1. Jerry has been riding the coat tails of Jimmy, Troy & others for 30 years. In a semi-quote, DAMN THE DRAFT SPOT, FULL SPEED AHEAD. Give Jerry a beat down he deserves.
  2. Tampa is playing for a playoff spot. Panthers a playing to improve/evaluate players for the future. Panthers cover but lose by 4.
  3. As the adage goes "the defining of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again". We have had 2 years of Bryce & Andy as plan A & B. Time to change one or both. Salary cap & draft assets may restrict changing plan A, but plan B can be changed much more easily. IMO, They need to add a plan C in the form of drafting a QB in the 2nd or 3rd, with the intent to let him sit & learn & get into NFL shape for a year or at least 8-10 games.
  4. The Panthers can't beat the Eagles unless they fall apart. The Bucs, Falcons, & Cardinals are all in must win spots today for a playoff spot or their division titles. The Cowboys are playing much better team ball since me-me-me went on IR. One win possible in the rest of season, IMO
  5. If you [Morgan & Canales] believe in a QB who will be the next Newton/Manning/Mahomes, when the Panthers pick, you have to pick him. If not pick the next Peppers. Please turn off ESPN/Kiper & without Tepper in the room when you decide. Morgan, please bring in some QB insurance besides Young for 2025. This was a shortcoming of your work in 2024.
  6. Ever since Tepper bought the team we have been hyped as "play-off bound" by somebody, Starting with RR/MH [95%MH], then MR/MH, then MR/SF, then the super-max hype from FR/SF. Tepper is guilty of falling for it along with a lot of Huddlers [even those that will never admit it] We are hardly the first team to have both a bad HC & GM. When we get to 10-20 years of such then we'll fit in with the worst. As far as next season goes: I am looking for improved play pointing to long term success. If Bryce proves what I think wrong & turns into a NFL QB great. But right now I'm looking at the other players proving themselves for 2025 & 2026 & beyond.
  7. Just a fluff piece to keep clicks & job going. IMO, Not to worried. Morgan will sign another QB before the season starts via waiver-cuts/UFL & Young will be "injured" by Thanksgiving. IMO.
  8. For a QB, draft value charts have been thrown out the window, historically. Future first or second + 2nd or 3rd, or no deal.
  9. Much better if you look at it with more of a long term outlook. Morgan & Tilis have not spent a lot of future salary cap or draft capital that Fitt-Rhule/Reich were so fond of. They have recovered some of the cap & draft capital previously spent with some timely cuts & trades. 2024 will be rough, but 2025-26 are looking vastly better as a result.
  10. Sorry to disappoint anyone but ,IMO, there is no chance any draftee, FA, or HC hire that will move the Panthers from dead last into at best 20th in the league. Thanks Fitterer & Tepper for your trades, non trades, draft picks, FA signings, over paying of some players, & the list goes on. Face the facts, 2024 will be a washed out year, IMO. First thing I think they should do is put Burns on a non-ex FA tag, if somebody wants him for even firsts in 25 & 26. If he holds out, save the salary cap for 25 & 26. The 2nd round should be BPA except QB, drafting a QB is too much like putting premium in a clunker with bald tires. IF somebody wants to trade up for our pick, make sure to get at least a 2nd in 24 & a 2nd or better in 25. Right now draft BPA in every round. The team needs a new/different player across the roster.
  11. Dallas plays again 4 days after Carolina. Look for them to rest starters beginning in the third if they have a safe lead [2-3 scores]. If line grows much more BEWARE
  12. Quite simple, CBS is showing one game Sunday. If you are in Panthers broadcast area, you get it a 4pm if not you get one of the other games at 1pm.
  13. Watch Corral get signed to NE practice squad as soon as he clears waivers.
  14. You can't compare our fan base to most of the other team's. Panthers have been playing for 27yrs versus other teams for up to a 100+yrs. It takes time to build a "worldwide" fan base & the Panthers have done quite well, but other teams have a 13 mile head start in this marathon. Since family has a bearing on one's fandom, a team like Green Bay [for example], has fans dating back to a person's great-great grandparents. It seems that switching our fandom from other teams is not as easy as flipping a switch & most if not all of us still hold on to a soft spot in our hearts for a prior team that we pulled for. IMO
  15. Not excited by either 2nd or 3rd round picks. Hope both prove me wrong. Had higher rated DEs. DBs, WRs & even a TE or two on the board when either were drafted. Does anyone remember that the defense let Mitch look like 2021 level Brady. I sure hope Evero can pull a lot of rabbits out of his hat next season. Just IMO
  16. Some of us are "young" enough to remember back to when sports news was limited to weekly/monthly mags. I recall a QB who was labeled as just a little mentally slow. Since then Terry Bradshaw has been riding that horse to the bank every week for forty+ years.
  17. Not a bad deal for either team. GB basically gets a 2nd this year & two 1sts next year to pad roster around Love. If he doesn't work out, they,ll have two 1sts next year to find replacement. Jets will now be in the SB conversation next year & possibly longer.
  18. Very unsure of this draft, unlike most others here. Awaiting for the other shoe to drop as Tepper has made or influenced a bone-head decision at least once or twice every off-season, IMO. Is Young the one or will there be another with lesser impact? Could Stroud be the pick despite being favored by at least one of the draft "experts", who has a record of picking busts dating back for years. IMO, 2nd has to be edge or CB with the rest of draft being balanced between O & D. Just don't think it is too wise to draft 6-7 players on one side, ala Rhule, or 3 picks at one position, ala G-Man.
  19. Sorry but Mr Klein's points for a vet QB to back-up a rookie are rather weak. What to do in his daily routine? What to eat? When to go to bed? How to watch tape when he has been in QB rooms for at least 2 or more years watching tape as a college QB? Is it worth about 5 million for this?. Just bring in his mother or big sister if this is what you need, IMO. Corral or a UDFA can be coached into a capable back-up when & if the need arrises.
  20. By the time the draft arrives the Huddle will 500+ pages of draft this gut, no that guy. no this there guy, or no that there guy. Don't you just love it. With the first int. of whoever gets chosen in preseason the Huddle will have a least 50 pages of we could have/ should have any of the other three. Great times.
  21. I also think Stroud. The OS QB busts is troublesome but most of which involved players with only one year of starting experience.
  22. Looking at it from a different angle: You have a QB coach barely removed from a mentor/vet back-up role. The Panthers may see that they can pass on the idea that they must have a vet for the benefit it may bring. IMO, I would not be surprised if they pass on a vet QB & use the money & roster spot on a FA DE or CB. Again this is just IMO,
  23. I don't get the hype for Richardson from the media & some posters here. He is basically one football year past high school, like Trubisky or Haskins before him but with much less production to show for it, IMO. I hope I'm wrong but I just don't see Saturdays performance translating into Sundays. As a general guideline I would never draft a one year college starter in any position in the first round & barely in the second, IMO. I know that there are exceptions to every draft guideline put forward by every talking head or poster here but this is one of mine. Thankfully my tenure as chief football observer & broom operator in my house is not in any jeopardy [my TV, my remote] if I am wrong or right.
  24. Keeping in mind that the football world is in the peak of the 'LYING SEASON', that will continue thru free agency & the draft. Talking heads will post anything as "facts" for clicks & reads. Please consider all of these "facts" with a grain of salt. Carolina FO & coaches should talk to Carr & any other player that could improve the team. If Carr fits into what they want to achieve, offer him a reasonable deal, if he declines, move on to the next. Reasonable offer: three years in the 80-100M range, starter position to be determined by his performance.
  25. FIND: As much as a duty of the GM, AsstGM, & scouting dept. or more than the HC. Possible: Yes. DEVELOP: A duty of the trio of HC, OC, & QB coach. Possible Yes. Failure of any one of the factors involved is also possible.
