The offer was likely from a playoff contender and likely spanned over a couple of years, meaning the picks were 25th or worse.

Let's be clear. Fitterer and Morgan will submit their choice for coach to Tepper for his final approval. I'd expect Tepper to 'voir dire' the potential coach and either give his thumbs up or down. Doesn't mean Tepper is going to interview all of them, just the one(s) that Fitterer puts before him.

Panthers "listening" on Shaq Thompson also
Raleigh PF replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
And you don't trade away draft picks so you can get that replacement level player on the cheap. Shaq is maybe a little better than average, but he's not a game-changer. Teams don't gameplan around him. I'd be ecstatic if the Panthers got a 3rd rounder for him, but I may be shooting a bit high. -
Good thing the Panthers didn't sign them to a new deal... Both of them are going to have to go away. Yes, the Panthers need QB1, but they also need to cut the dead weight and that means players that are going through the motions or are continually injured (whether the injury is real or not).

I'd like to know the ratio of how often the Panthers play zone vs. man. That would really show how effective Horn was. If they are only playing man 20% of the time, the number isn't as impressive.

There has been some speculation about Rhule being in line for coaching positions at Nebraska and Arizona State. I'm just wondering if Tepper is trying to get those schools to pay some of what is owed Rhule before he releases him from his contract.

Official Browns at Panthers predictions thread
Raleigh PF replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Panthers 24, Browns 17. I'm worried the Panthers offense may struggle and their defense will be the bend-don't-break variety, but gotta think Baker with the Panthers is better than Brissett with the Browns. -
Does anyone else think we could win the South?
Raleigh PF replied to Stuart Smith's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's the key - a healthy team. Just about everything has to go right for the Panthers to take the division. Stay healthy, the team adapts to all of the new coaches and schemes, they gel quickly and take advantage of the schedule early. I think it's highly unlikely, but it's not completely out of the realm. -
Did you have a stroke?
-
Rappaport is reporting a torn ligament. Out indefinitely.
-
Just a reminder, Corral is the only QB on the books next year. If Baker has a decent season, then they need to resign him. And for anyone thinking he would sign a two year deal, why would Baker ever consider doing such a thing?
-
Sign him to a 5-year deal... ... and draft a QB.
-
If rather have the offense in 4-wide sets than trade for a TE right now. Now, if a good DLineman is available...
-
What should happen... Trade Darnold for a bag of used footballs. Keep PJ on the practice squad. Grab Skylar Thompson from Miami. I might give a late round pick for that.
-
It's all about injuries. The team has talent enough to compete for a playoff spot IF they stay away from serious injuries to key personnel (CMC, Baker, Burns, etc.). They aren't deep enough at the talent positions if one of them is hurt for an extended period. Just bear in mind, not a year goes by where teams aren't affected by injury.

Official Panthers at Patriots Gameday Thread!
Raleigh PF replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm sure Rhule doesn't care for the penalty but sure did like seeing how many guys wanted to celebrate that touchdown. Just seems like a more cohesive unit this year...so far. -
I guess most just skipped over the part where Corral is going to play the 2nd and 4th quarters. I mean, I get people like to be mad, but dayum.
-
I'm sure there's a team looking for a reasonable backup. As Sam is sunk cost, might as well see if you can get a draft pick for him if you pick up most, if not all of his salary. Kinda like the Browns did with Baker.
-
PFT reporting that PJ will play the 1st and 3rd quarters, Corral will play the 2nd and 4th. UPDATE 11:28 a.m. ET: The Panthers announced Walker will play the first and third quarters with Corral running the offense in the second and fourth quarters." https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/08/19/report-p-j-walker-is-expected-to-start-at-qb-for-panthers-friday-night/

If you read the article, it mentions him being signed because of injuries last year. He played well, but the injured players returned so he was cut.
-
Incomplete for all. The coaches that need to stand out are OLine, DLine, TE and WR. I don't think our WRs or TEs are all that, which is why having Marshall tend towards bust is a blow. If the coaches can help, we may have an offense.

Could use some depth there...
