  1. So I want to make sure I am on the same page. We want a franchise QB. We just want either a young vet. Someone 25ish or younger. Or a draft pick. We just want to give up absolutely nothing to get him. I think we've been using the Madden trade function too often.
  2. Not nearly the same as something like Stafford. But just like 2 days ago ESPN had a "top trade destinations" article for Wentz and Carolina was listed.
  3. Until the Carolina QB situation is dealt with long term..any QB hitting free agency/trade bait will have Carolina rumors.
  4. Whenever QB Wins is brought up, I typically start ignoring the entire conversation. I am not sure there is a more over rated stat in the NFL. We will sit here and probably all agree the Lions have been a horribly run franchise. We will cite the early retirement of Megatron and Barry Sanders. But when it comes to Stafford..why didn't he win all those games?! Clearly a bad QB. Nothing to do with the horrible front office and coaching in Detroit that we all agree that exists. He should have overcome all that.
  5. I could have stomached a future 1st + BW and whatever extra fluff. This years 8th would have made me uncomfortable. I am just more content that the Panthers are willing to look at any player, but at the same time not get into a ridiculous bidding war and grossly over pay. You keep doing your due diligence, and things will fall into place.
  6. First round picks so important rams gonna go 6 years without one, and be regular playoff contenders.
  7. Eagles new HC saw the Lions New HC Presser and was like.. "Hold my beer"
  8. I also feel there is a form of leverage on Watson's side that wasn't mentioned. Its more indirect and not easily quantifiable. I feel the negative PR of Texans front office with dealing with Watson + his status up in the air (placing Texans "plan" up in the air, can all be a factor in getting quality FAs. The longer this goes on, the worse its gets. It benefits the Texans to take care of this as quickly as possible. Either placating Watson to stay, or moving him. Sure, there will always be the FAs that just follow the money and take the highest pay out. But I am sure there are many FAs that have similar offers from a variety of teams. They look for contender status, who their team mates would be, how the front office works with its players.
  9. Great point. If you don't win a superbowl you are a failure. If keeping 3 first round picks instead of trading for Watson doesn't get the Panthers a superbowl win, then it was the wrong move. (Did I do it right?)
  10. Rams haven't had a first round pick since 2016. Lets look at a side by side comparison of their records and ours. Specifically post season success?
  11. I remember when you got mad at me for not respecting your source. Which was some forum poster behind the paywall forum section of the Huddle.
  12. I would lose respect for any organization that would do this.
  13. Stafford is if you want to win now with players hitting their prime. Drafting a QB is if you acknowledge you don't plan on winning for a few years. This means many moves on the team have been irrelevant. It means we have to hope we can resign many players of our young core.
  14. Sometimes I feel like even a breakdown within the first round is needed for some stats like these. The talent level between a top 3 pick and a end-of-round pick (even in first) can be staggering. Then also combine that with teams picking later are better. Take Mahomes for example. He was drafted 10th. But was he drafted by the "10th worst team"? No. Chiefs were originally drafting 27th. They were a playoff team that just went 12-4. Now, I am not saying Mahomes would have been a bust if a typical team drafting in the top 10 woulda grabbed him. Only I am not as confident he'd be regarded as a NFL MVP.
  15. This is the best thing to happen to this forum.
  16. I dont think we are that far off from being good. Drop Watson on the Panthers this year, a playoff team.
