How much of the Jets performance was really on Darnold?

Yikes, I think that's my bad. I think I highlighted that particular statement in the quoted post you responded to. Sorry about that. -

He doesn't have to be better than Fields for it to have been the right choice, he just has to not be significantly worse. Remember, the equation is: Darnold + Horn > Fields. -
Okay, after googling, Minshew has 2 years left on his rookie contract. He's going nowhere unless he makes a stink.
-
They'll keep him at least for one more year. I think he has one year left on his rookie contract...can't remember. He's cheap and a really good backup. No reason for them to unload him unless we offer a higher pick than I think we should.

Or John Ellis?

June 1st (trade and cut transactions) rumors
Pup McBarky replied to Leotiger's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is absolutely factually incorrect. There are only so many touches to go around in a game. CMC absolutely drops Robbie's touches. To suggest otherwise is to suggest Brady is a numbskull. -

And this is definitely a good thing. When your third option is better than some teams' first and many teams' second, you're not doing too badly. -

Right. About that one decision. Not about basic football knowledge. That's the difference in saying, "We drafted the wrong guy" and saying, "We should focus more on 6th rounders because that's where Tom Brady was drafted." One of those is a legit complaint; the other is based on a lack of basic NFL football knowledge.
-
So, by inference, you believe you know better than they do. Not about a single decision, mind you, but about a basic piece of football knowledge. That's what I thought, just wanted confirmation.
-
Except that is not my stance. It's fine to question our professional staff's decisions. Hell, professionals make mistakes all the time. But you claimed to be "concerned" that our professional staff didn't have some basic football knowledge...that a franchise QB was not a common commodity. Do you stand by that "concern?"
-
Thanks. You've changed my life.

There we go. That's about what I was expecting.
-
Except that there are several posters here who seem to believe it's not true, including at least one mod.
-
So, let me see if I got this right. You're saying two people who have spent their entire adult careers coaching and learning about football don't get the concept that a franchise QB is pretty rare? And you know better?

Eight Carolina Panthers Who Could Have a Break Out 2021 Season

I'd add to the list: Morgan Fox, Dan Arnold, and hopefully, Tommy Tremble and Sam Franklin. -
Former NFL LB makes Bold Statement on Panthers Defense
Pup McBarky replied to CarolinaLivin's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Reddick, Fox, and Bouye push us into the top 10 discussion. If Perryman stays healthy and the rooks do what I think they're capable of, we could push for top 5, especially if Horn becomes who we think he is. -

I agree with him. I think the defense is definitely top 10 and we have a shot to be even better, depending on a couple of the pieces we got. -
I like, "Flummox them! Flummox them! Make 'em run the wrong way!"

Re: Deonte Brown and David Moore being giant, powerful guys who may not be the best fits for a wide zone scheme... I think Rhule & company not only value positional diversity but scheme diversity as well. Some OL will fit your primary scheme better than others, but they may suffer if the scheme changes. I think both Brown and Moore can be good guards in multiple schemes. Keeping the defense off balance and constantly guessing by running multiple schemes with multiple personnel would be a nice advantage.
