  1. We can still start PJ. Who knows? With an upgraded line and better defense, he could be okay until we actually get a franchise guy. I'd almost be willing to trade back, acquire more picks, and go with that...or take a flyer on a late round guy like Newman.
  2. I agree with this. Even then, Lawrence will take his lumps. Like Manning, he'll have to adjust to the speed of the game and those windows he used to have will get a fraction of their size.
  3. Steve said nothing about Oline, which surprises me. But yeah, he's right about the other stuff. He's basically preaching the Fox/Rivera message of, "Defense wins championships." Hard to argue against that given the latest results.
  4. Not true this year. There will be plenty of OL starter potential available on day 3.
  5. Different guy, different era. People think Jones is Brady 2.0 or at the very least, Brady lite. He'll be drafted in the first round.
  6. Watson first by a mile. Then Lawrence. The rest don't matter.
  7. I have seen him play. He's definitely a smart kid and he's got some skills. I dunno if he can be a franchise QB, but he's no slouch either. He'll make the league, but will likely be as a backup. Strikes me as the type to hold a clipboard a few years then move into coaching, but there's always a chance he gets a shot and develops. Just depends on his drive and determination. Most folks would see him as a game manager, but he can make deep throws and does on occasion. NW asked him to not turn it over and manage the offense because their defense was the cornerstone of their team.
  8. If the guy we want isn't available at 8, I'd love to take a late-round flyer on this guy. I think he may surprise some folks. And his name is Peyton, not Patrick.
  9. He won a natty, looked good doing it, and there's the inevitable comparisons to Tom Brady. People want to find the next Brady and they can convince themselves he's it. He's smart, not a great athlete, but delivers the ball on time to his playmakers. Again, it's all about story over facts. People tell themselves a story, anchor to it, and can't get off of it. Doesn't surprise me in the least.
  10. Yeah. This all day. Mocks are generally pretty far off the mark in normal times. Mocks this year should be taken with a truckload of salt.
  11. He learned every LB position in college. Saban does that with almost all his LBers. He likes them to be interchangeable. He's 245 lbs, definitely undersized as a DE. He's listed as LB/DE, and as I said, depends on which direction Snow wants to go.
  12. He won't last until then. He won a national championship and looked good doing it. People will jump just for that.
  13. Tepper knows. If we miss on a QB, we'll work a trade somehow.
  14. That's a bit dramatic. We could take Lance at 8 and he could flop. As long as we hit on other picks, we'll be okay. It's not what we want, obviously, but teams miss far more than they hit on first round picks. Just look at the history. Especially with QBs.
  15. If the Panthers pick Jones, I'll be okay with it, given Rhule coached him in the Senior bowl. I don't think they will, and I definitely don't think they would with Lance still on the board. If Lance is gone, I'd rather they pick the best OT/CB there or better still, trade back and accumulate picks. If Rhule does wind up picking Jones, he better be right. I think fans will forgive him if he picks Lance and it turns bad, but not Jones.
  16. If you replace Brady with Winston, sure, you get mediocre. Even the best teams cannot win when your QB throws it to the other team every other possession. They get tired of having to clean up his mess.
  17. And that is my point. TB has a really good OL and a dominant defense before Brady got there.
  18. Not even remotely. We don't have the defense or the OL TB had before Brady arrived.
  19. Yeah, who wouldn't want to play on a stacked team with Brady as QB? We're nowhere near that situation here though. Not close.
  20. This is true, but not to the degree that this board thinks it is. If it were, the Texans wouldn't have a losing record in Watson's best year. And while some OLs in NE weren't stellar, I'd never say any of them were weak.
  21. That means our boy Tepper ain't the big dog anymore when it comes to cash. Even he is a small fry compared to Bezos. Washington Amazons. Wonder Woman on the helmets. I'm digging it.
  22. Everyone keeps saying this, like Gronk, Fournette, and AB don't matter. They probably don't make the SB without AB taking the best CB on other teams.
  23. There's an argument to be made for your position. Brady thrived because yes, they did invest in the OL, but more importantly, they designed an offense that got the ball out quickly. But, as the SB evidenced, even the best QBs can compensate only so much for a below-par OL. BTW, I'm not arguing against a trade for DW. I'm saying, if we make that trade, we better hit on some draft picks in the later rounds or we'll be just like the Texans.
