  1. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens. I would LOVE to have Watson (who wouldn’t) but I see us going after a rookie at the end of the day.
  2. Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson wants out. The Texans addressed that situation during the press conference introducing David Culley as the team’s next head coach. G.M. Nick Caserio, before taking questions, reiterated the team’s commitment to Watson. “Zero interest in trading the player,” Caserio said. When asked by John McClain of the Houston Chronicle about the plan for salvaging the relationship with Watson, Caserio said that the “best way is to communicate and be honest and be forthright.” Of course, before they can communicate with Watson, they need to get Watson to be willing to communicate. If he refuses to talk to them, how can they salvage the relationship? The Texans clearly want to take the high road with Watson. If the high road doesn’t work, they’ll need to decide whether to take the low road or whether to give him what he wants. For now, it’s entirely possible that the Texans will entertain trade offers, even if they have “zero interest” in trading Watson (once upon a time, the Vikings had “no intent” to trade Percy Harvin). Eventually, someone could make the Texans an offer they can’t refuse. The question then will be whether they still find a way to refuse it. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/01/29/nick-caserio-texans-have-zero-interest-in-trading-deshaun-watson/
  3. It’s not that easy. It’s 4.9 million cap savings first of all, and second you already have to replace the entire line other than center. He’s the QB of the line and has a year in the Matt Rhule/Brady system which is another thing you have to consider when finding his replacement. Look at the FA centers and let me know who you think we could find that would be on the same level for that money.
  4. Agreed. To me, the best plan is to draft a center high and play them at G the first year (we may be forced to do this because we have so many holes) then slide them over when Paradis is gone next year. It is going to be very interesting to see how we replace so many positions in one offseason with very little depth on the bench (no one has really proven that they can handle the NFL- Little or that they can stay healthy- Daley)
  5. Along with the rest of the line? And replace how, FA? Draft?
  6. With all the excitement about QB’s the last few weeks (rightfully so being that Teddy will be joining David Carr as a two glove, one and done QB for us) we have not really discussed who will be blocking for our new savior come next season. So let’s talk about what you would do with the Lone Ranger on our line....you know....the only starter that we have under contract. Matt “I can only be in the sun for an hour” Paradis will be under contract next season at the ripe age of 31 years young. He is under contract for 10.3 million, which he will most certainly spend 80 percent of that salary on bush light. Cap savings by cutting him will be 4.9 million and he has two dummy years (fug you Hurney) which will cost 3.6 million no matter what. With all that being said I ask you, wise Huddlers, what you would do if you were the Panthers GM. Would you: A) Cut his ass and look for another ginger in the draft along with every other position on the line B) Let him play out his final year and look for a replacement the following offseason/draft being that we have 4 other starters to find C) Give him a short extension to lower his cap hit next year and to be a stable presence/mentor to the young players which will most certainly have on our line next year. His first year sucked because he was still recovering from broke leg, played well last year, and you believe we can get stable play for another 2-3 years out of him. What is your opinion?
  7. He’s 38 so they would likely add a year like they did with Brees to push it down the road. They currently have no plan for a starter after him and he’s still a top 20 QB so it makes sense. They will be one of many teams though looking to draft a QB in this upcoming draft if they are smart
  8. I shouldn’t have posted 1st round pick, it could have been any pic. For the record I don’t believe we should do this, like I stated in the original post, it is just for discussion. Even a 2nd round pick was just a topic for discussion. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fanduel.com/theduel/posts/3-most-likely-jordan-love-trade-destinations-01ewzrpt11n7/amp
  9. I don’t either but it is a good question. He has a year of NFL learning behind One of the best to ever do it which is beneficial for a project like he is. He is obviously very talented physically but many people knew he would take a year or two to fine tune his game. If he moved and sat for one year behind 2 gloves it could be intriguing
  10. I was reading the article below earlier and it brought up a very good question. With Aaron Rodgers having an MVP season and showing no signs of slowing down, he wants to remain the starter of the Packers and wants a new contract to show that they are dedicated to him for the foreseeable future, not Jordan Love. So what will the Packers do? Will the Packers look at Jordan Love as the next Rodgers or the next Jimmy G (with the Patriots) who will be trade bait? Could they admit that they made a mistake drafting him and not another playmaker for Rogers to get over the hump and make it to the Super Bowl? A 1st round pick for Love could be a huge piece to help the Packers feel like they can make it past the Championship round. Would you trade the #8 overall pick in the draft for Love? Just asking overall opinions, I’m not saying we should. We have literally posted threads about every possible QB option since the end of the season, so this is an interesting topic in my opinion. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/01/28/what-aaron-rodgers-really-wants-is-clarity/
  11. That is eye opening. Knowing that your QB can bring you back in the game is huge. If the players on the team don’t have that confidence that you can come back when you are down, it can become contagious when you face adversity. Last season alone we had the chance to have a winning season by coming back in one score games.
  12. No rush but the deal can be made before that. Once a team announces that a player of available at his level, it normally moves fairly quick especially when it involves a franchise QB. Normally a deal is made but won’t be official until March
  13. Many times Rhule gives praise when we can all tell that he’s not high on a particular player (aka they get demoted/cut a week later/Whitehead) but he really did not hide his feelings about Teddy at the end of the year. Look at the comments Tepper made about having a franchise QB, Rhule “benching him due to injury” in the last game, and the comments he made at the end of the season/once the offseason started. No question in my mind that we are looking for an improvement. I still have the feeling that we find that QB in the draft and allow the staff to develop our franchise QB who will be on a rookie wage so that we can continue to build the team around him.
  14. My mistake I read too quick. It said the first was African American... but he is a minority candidate which is good
