WarPanthers89 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
We will be hearing his plan of fixing our team. No way this trade happens in division. -

Interesting note at the end: “Payton predicted that Jackson will be elsewhere in 2023. It’s a feeling that definitely is beginning to spread throughout the league.” I wonder what the haul will be for whatever team would trade for him ARTICLE: As the Ravens prepare to face the Bengals on Sunday night, they’ll do it without starting quarterback Lamar Jackson. Saturday on Fox, a former NFL starting quarterback had some pointed words for Jackson. Mike Vick had this to say about Jackson’s reluctance to play with a PCL sprain in his knee: “It’s the playoffs, you’re three games away. Put a brace on it. Get it going. Put a brace on it, let’s go. . . . I played a whole season with a torn MCL.” During the same segment, former Saints coach Sean Payton expressed disagreement with Jackson’s decision to go public with his injury status, adding that Payton is “hearing grumblings” from the building, and that there are “teammates” who believe his “process has been slower than expected.” Payton added that, if he were the coach, Jackson wouldn’t even be on the sideline with a knee injury that keeps him from playing. “With a lower body injury, he’s going to be up in the press box, he’s not going to be on the field for me,” Payton said. Jackson may never be on the field again for the Ravens. Payton predicted that Jackson will be elsewhere in 2023. It’s a feeling that definitely is beginning to spread throughout the league. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/01/15/mike-vick-to-lamar-jackson-put-a-brace-on-it-lets-go/

Lol you guys kill me. He has improved every year and is a pro bowl type of player and is extremely young. This is the exact type of player that you want to retain as a core piece of your team. He has 38 sacks in his first 4 seasons (barely playing year 1) is a team captain, pro bowl player and is 24 years old. He will get better and better in his second contract. You pay for future production and we will get plenty of production from 25 year plus Burns

Report: Panthers to interview Jim Caldwell, Frank Reich
WarPanthers89 replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wouldn’t look too much into it, it’s part of the process. We will be liked to some up and coming coordinators in the very near future -
A couple of former Colts head coaches are expected to interview with the Panthers soon. Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports that the Panthers are set to speak with Jim Caldwell and Frank Reich as they look for a permanent replacement for Matt Rhule. Interim head coach Steve Wilks is also expected to be a candidate in Carolina. Caldwell was 26-22 in three seasons with the Colts and took the team to Super XLIV. He then went 36-28 in four seasons with the Lions that included a pair of trips to the postseason. Reich was fired by the Colts after a 3-5-1 start this season. He was 40-33-1 over his entire tenure in Indianapolis and went 1-2 in two trips to the playoffs. Reich also started three games at quarterback for the Panthers in 1995. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/01/08/report-panthers-to-interview-jim-caldwell-frank-reich/

Massive egos involved on both sides. Idk but I would much rather have a current NFL coach.

Disappointing player of the year award?
WarPanthers89 replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Robbie had a bad season last year though, and I don’t know how many people expected a big year from him. Chinn was someone we claimed was “untouchable” in some articles when the trade deadline was approaching. I would take a 1st for him in a heartbeat honestly. He was a jag this year if we are being honest. -
Who gets your vote? Mine is Jeremy Chinn. I really like him but he has not been an impact player the last two seasons. Robby Anderson wins the fall off the cliff award.

Harbaugh to Carolina Makes Too Much Sense...
WarPanthers89 replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
Do not want. He seems to be a tool and they had very mixed reports when he left the 49ers. I know a lot of you are Harbaugh stans but this is just my opinion. I want a current NFL coach. -
He’s a very solid #3 corner. He’s definitely not a number one corner which is what he was forced to play today.

Who cares, this is an entertaining game The fact that we are playing head to head in a meaningful division champ style game in January has me extremely happy no mater what

Beard Sam is God mode.

It’s a league approved playing surface so not sure what we did wrong. I agree we should go back to turf no question, but what was wrong with the field vs every other game we have played at home. We can’t control the cold and if the league approved that mess, owners will go with whatever is more profitable vs player safety which is the messed up part

McDaniels curse. You can’t lead brown men wearing sun visors
-
No. We are built on the run and teams are literally begging us to win through the air. I’m stoked Sam has done well for us but I believe we have one of the most QB friendly offenses in the league currently. We are set up to win in spite of our QB play. Carr is a better QB than Sam. Coaches/teams/circumstances play a huge role in a QB’s success. Look at mayfield as a good example.
-
Sorry to hear about your loss.
-
He has 1290 yards, 12 td’s with two games to go
-
Good point. The alternative however is that if you sign as a free agent, similar to jimmy G you will dedicate long term cap to these guys where Carrs current contract allows you to cut bait at any time if you would like and he is proven to be a top half of the league QB
-
See Saints…..from 2006-current. You do have a good point and I will not deny that paying 40 mill would be ideal, but it’s not a bad option being that you can get out of it any year if you want. If we don’t go the Carr/Jimmy G route you are basically stuck with going the rookie QB route which may work out/may not. We have low competition in the division so now is the time to strike if we are going to. You cut/restructure Shaq and extend Burns and you have close to 30 million additional with two moves alone.
-
Tell me why this would not be a good trade. Salary is not bad for a top 15 (maybe top 10) QB with very little risk if you have to cut him (dead cap hit is nothing really). If he is cut he can sign with any team. Carr on this team with a good O line, good running game, and an actual defense could mean that we own the South. Overall I’m on the fence about Carr compared to drafting a rookie QB, but his contract does make it much more appealing and it does seem like we are a QB away from being a team people would worry about in the playoffs.
