  1. Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said early this month that the team will “look at every opportunity to have the best we can have at every position” including quarterback as they head into the 2021 season. Their starting quarterback in 2020 was Teddy Bridgewater, who Rhule said “has to have a tremendous offseason” if he’s going to remain in that job after a season that saw the Panthers lose a lot of close games when the offense failed to make plays down the stretch. Speaking from the Senior Bowl on Wednesday, Rhule discussed what traits he’s looking for in a quarterback. One of them was closely related to how those one-score games played out last year. “Just in general, I think you want someone who’s elitely intelligent. I think you want someone who’s a tremendous leader,” Rhule said, via Alaina Getzenberg of the Charlotte Observer. “I think you want someone who’s accurate. I think you want someone who has arm talent to make all the throws. And I think you want someone who has a history of making plays in crucial situations, that’s just very urgent.” With the eighth pick in the draft and a lot of potential movement involving quarterbacks around the league, the Panthers will have options to check the boxes on Rhule’s list. How they do so will provide a big hint about where Bridgewater will stand in the pecking order. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/01/28/matt-rhule-very-urgent-to-have-qb-who-makes-plays-in-crucial-situations/
  2. I agree, but the price could be going down being that they have already played themselves by announcing that he wanted out and that they have agreed to trade him. Teams know that he’s not on the team next year do they will be forced to move on no matter what
  3. Very true but this is a turn of events. If you could get Stafford for a 2 second round picks though I would jump.
  4. When it comes to potential interest in Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, the glass is currently two-thirds empty. That’s the obvious import of the news that a third of the league has reached out to the Lions. A third of the league. Ten teams. For a 32-year-old franchise quarterback who is going to get his wish for a new franchise. The Lions undoubtedly leaked that number to NFL Media in order to generate more interest. Surely, they expected to hear from more than 10 teams — especially since calls always get made when a key veteran player is available as part of the normal due diligence process. The teams that should at least make the call include the Jets, Patriots, Dolphins, Steelers, Browns, Jaguars, Colts, Texans, Broncos, Raiders, Washington, Cowboys (as a potentially cheaper alternative to Dak Prescott), Bears, Vikings, Panthers, Saints, Falcons, 49ers, and Rams. That’s nearly two thirds of the league. Maybe some teams simply aren’t intersted. Maybe some teams simply want the Lions to get nervous and thus desperate and thus willing to get whatever they can for Stafford instead of driving the hardest bargain. Regardless, the Lions for now seem to be having a much harder time than expected when it comes to generating interest in Stafford. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/01/27/the-lions-dont-seem-to-be-getting-as-much-interest-in-matthew-stafford-as-expected/
  5. Slater would be a great pick. I would be very happy with this. Literally the only non QB position I would want at 8
  6. He meant O line. One starter under contract (Paradis)
  7. This thread has been posted at least 30 times already. What could we have possibly done to out suck Washington? They had Haskins who couldn’t have played worse, and special teams performed horribly for them that game. We would have had to sit the entire team and that wasn’t possible. Quit crying about everything, it is what it is at this point, we are going to be fine. Almost every loss was by a score so we could have won any of those games and no one would have blinked an eye.
  8. Does anyone question that we will have a new QB? I wouldn’t mind Stafford one bit, although this seems to be a team destined to draft a QB with the way we are rebuilding and with the money owed to Teddy. Rhule has a long term deal so I don’t think he would be under pressure to really perform until year 3/4
  9. Tyreek Hill. Guy is in another level with speed Or Travis Kelce, he is going to obliterate the TE records before his career is over and cannot be stopped.
  10. Looking at the starters for the chiefs, it gives you hope that we can build a decent O line being that we are starting fresh this offseason.
  11. One of the best Chicken dances of all time. No hate though, a punch like that would end my life I’m sure.
  12. Agreed. It looks like he’s going somewhere and he’s going to have a huge market for his services. No way I would want to coach the Texans after this screw job. They have killed all talent in a 2 year period
  13. Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was reportedly unhappy this offseason when he suggested that Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy should interview for the team’s head-coaching vacancy and the Texans left him off their list. But just because the Texans later reversed course and did interview Bieniemy, that doesn’t mean Watson can be placated. According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Watson wants out of Houston and that won’t change, regardless of who the Texans hire to be their next head coach. That could make it a tough sell for the Texans to get any top candidate to take the job. If Watson isn’t going to be there, the Texans job is one of the least attractive NFL job openings in years. The Texans are a bad team without much in the way of draft capital or salary cap space to get better. The only thing that would make the job attractive to a coach is that Watson, one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks, is there. If the Texans offer Bieniemy the job, he might decide he’s better off remaining in Kansas City, where Patrick Mahomes is running his offense, than going to Houston, where he doesn’t know who his quarterback would be. It’s been an ugly offseason in Houston, and the situation does not appear to be improving. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/01/24/report-deshaun-watson-wants-out-of-houston-no-matter-who-the-coach-is/
  14. Who is watching and what are your thought on the fights? Does Connor make a big comeback?
  15. Robby Anderson (who only fell off at the end of the year because of Teddy being TERRIBLE) CMC Brian Burns Taylor Moton
  16. Totally agree with everything said especially the QB position. I still believe we are about the same position as last year when it comes to holes to fill. Sure we will be in better shape with dead cap along with promising young talent, but look at the starter positions we have to fill. (minimum one LB position, 2 CB’s -we have Jackson alone who is on his last year, DT - even if you stick with Kerr we have zero depth, LT, G, G, C - that is in the last year of his contract and play has been middle of the road at best and RT that will take up the majority of our cap space if we tag Moton. We are really one year away from having our team in decent shape even if we find our QB of the future this offseason. the future looks bright but we need to make good decisions this season and have one hell of a draft then the following year we will be in much better position cap wise
  17. True and I agree that’s a must, but that leaves very little to fill the other 6 starting spots and depth/draft picks. Our new GM has his hands full this year. Hurney left us in rough cap shape yet again with very little talent under contract that is not on a rookie wage scale.
  18. Agreed. Moton should be our one and only big signing in my opinion but we still have a lot of holes to fill even with signing cheap starters (two G spots, LT, CB x2 and MLB minimum. Along with DT depth) Side note: Luke Kuechly and Gano count for over 9 million in dead cap this upcoming season
  19. The Carolina Panthers will rollover around $4.27 million in salary cap room for the 2021 season, according to Field Yates at ESPN. While that’s not enough to go out and make any real splash signing in free agency, every little bit helps. General manager Scott Fitterer is inheriting a challenging salary cap situation. His team needs more depth on the back end defensively and four of five starting offensive linemen are about to become free agents. Fitterer is also stuck with a mediocre quarterback on the books for at least another year and a history-making contract for a running back. Panthers fans currently asking for the franchise to mortgage the future in order to trade for Deshaun Watson need to be patient and understand it’s going to take more than one big move to turn this thing around. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2021/01/21/panthers-cap-space-rollover-2021-season/?fbclid=IwAR0n5yq_2zuzbNyGfXC092c6r3quPrleOZAA371crp-2KXt4H0ubOdqTiyo
