My realistic plan to fix the offense……what’s yours?
WarPanthers89 replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Great point, and I would not be disappointed by any means if we go best WR available with our 2nd round pick, but with that we would still need to sign one of the top available free agent WR’s to fill the number one role and they need to have speed, especially with the game plan to have such a quick release. We all know rookie WR’s can be slow to develop on the first year, so having a vet who can fill the main role will still be critical. Just as important is having depth at G/C who is good enough to start. We all see what happened with injuries last year, Bryce had zero chance with the revolving door in the middle of the line. -

I tried to in the draft with our round 2 pick which will be like a late 1st. Our base starters are pretty much set. We need someone for key depth who could possibly push Brady C for playing time while being a swing key depth piece at G/C if needed. It Doesn’t make much sense to pay for a starter in free agency being that we have 3 out of the 5 starters on big contracts. We have one player we have paid at WR (Adam T) which is why it makes the most sense to me go go this route in FA. We can’t afford to miss on our 2nd round pick at WR to depend on being a starter. We need a proven guy with speed so we can properly evaluate Bryce. For all the issues Hollywood Brown and Ridley have, you know what you are getting with them and they have proven production and can stretch the field, along with solid depth in Mooney or Samuel to go along with Thielen/Mingo -
We must get depth on our O line and MUST upgrade our WR group to give Bryce a chance in hell, and to properly evaluate the kid. Here is my realistic plan on what I would do on offense to correct the poo show we all had to witness next year. First: new scheme, new dream. Let’s all take a moment of silence for Franks horrific playbook to be thrown into the depths of hell. Second: Free agency. I don’t believe we will spend our money on the line for more starters, as we already have three big contracts on the line out of 5. This will be a spot we address in the draft. We may get a depth piece for cheaper, but don’t expect big money to be spent here. I believe we will spend our money on WR targets. One big name (as big as you can get for a free agent pool) AND one tier 2 FA WR. We only have money spent on Thielen currently and need another vet for Bryce who has SPEED. My Plan for Tier 1 SPEED: Marquis Brown OR Calvin Ridley Tier 2: Darnel Mooney OR Curtis Samuel Third: Draft. We spend our 2nd round pick on best available C/G (I pray Jackson Powers were to drop) This allows the rookie to be our key depth piece and potential starter to replace our center or guard if needed due to performance issues. 3rd round pick should be on best available Wr, TE, or O line. Remainder of draft should be BPA. This will leave us with a depth chart like this: QB: Bryce Young/Andy Dalton WR1: Hollywood Brown OR Calvin Ridley WR2: Mingo/Mooney Or Samuel Slot/WR3: Adam Thielen TE: Hurst/Tremble/Possible rookie 3rd round pick RB: Chubba/Miles Sanders LT: Icky LG: Brady C (with 2nd round rookie pushing for playing time or to start/be key swing depth) Center: Bozeman (with 2nd round rookie being swing depth) RG: Corbett RT: Moton WHAT WOULD YOUR PLAN BE?

BREAKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not a ton of substance in the 13 min video but I did find it interesting he mentioned the number 1 priority on defense is finding pass rush outside of Burns. He mentioned if we trade Burns we have an even more massive hole, but did bring up that we didn’t have a single game where the offense from the opposite team having to come from behind to score points. This absolutely made the stats for Burns drop some, and it is crazy to think about. Not once was Burns able to get after the opposite team in the 4th quarter when they had to throw to win, because we were playing from behind in all 17 games, not to mention not having ANYONE opposite of Burns.

Thoughts? Article: The Bears seem to be preparing to trade quarterback Justin Fields. The Falcons might be preparing to trade for him. The Falcons are the overwhelming favorites to land Fields in the odds set by DraftKings Sportsbook. Atlanta is at -225, with the Bears next at +240. The Steelers come in at +340, and the Raiders are at +800. The Patriots have +1500 odds, with the Broncos at +2000. At one point, DraftKings removed the odds. They have since returned. The Bears need to move quickly, if they’re going to trade Fields. With other quarterbacks available, seats will be filled quickly as free agency approaches. The longer the Bears wait, the greater the chance there won’t be a taker. That could force the Bears to keep Fields until after the first round of the draft concludes, hopeful that a team targeting a quarterback in round one doesn’t get the player it wants. If that doesn’t happen, the Bears could be stuck. Teams can agree to the terms of a trade currently. No deal can become official until March 13 at 4:00 p.m. ET. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/falcons-are-heavy-favorites-to-land-justin-fields

Very true. I keep going back to CMC and DJ Moore in my head. I know that they are completely different players but we see how bad things can get when we get rid of proven talent. We have such a lack of high end talent, and it’s extremely hard to replace. Those 2nd and 3rd round picks from CMC mean nothing if you can’t even find a decent backup with it

Listen….I’ve been quiet on Burns and definitely do not feel like he should be top 5 paid DE’s, but he's very talented and had a down year last year. It’s a massive hole from talent and leadership perspective if he’s gone. We are a better team with him being on the roster….and if we can’t Lock up our young core during Young’s rookie contract we are missing out. Brown and Lucy should be priority 1A and 1B, but no way should we allow Burns to walk. He must be tagged, especially with the cap exploding

BPA but if that’s the case and it ends up not being on offense, we have to get Bryce some weapons in FA. That part is not an option, as we have to properly evaluate the kid. He was in a situation last year that was by far the worsts in the league for any QB, much less a rookie.

Very good point. Honestly I wouldn’t mind spending big on him or someone else like Hollywood Brown so we could be free to draft BPA WR or O line with picks 2-4. At this point we have to spend some major capital on offense but I agree with you we need to do a proper re build. Part of that does need to include spending some money on a younger proven WR to pair with Young so that we can properly evaluate him. WR’s like we had last year he does not stand a chance -

Who cares. I’d do it tomorrow. After watching that dog poo offense the last few years we have to do something….i couldn’t even watch them as a die hard fan. It was miserable. -

Trade straight up and call it a day. -
lol yeah holding Mahomes in the Super Bowl to 19 points in regulation is an accomplishment and should be enough to win you the game. In today’s NFl, holding anyone to 19 points should be good enough, much less one of the best to ever play the game. Up until the final 2 minutes they held them to 16 points, and don’t get me started on how many opportunities the 49ers gave the chiefs to score in the 2nd half due to horrific play calling and abandoning the run game in the 3rd quarter.

Article: When asked about defensive coordinator Steve Wilks returning for 2025, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan didn’t provide a clear, unequivocal, unconditional response. And that might have happened for a reason. As explained by Tim Kawakami of TheAthletic.com, Wilks could be in jeopardy — if the 49ers believe they can find an upgrade. Kawakami notes that the 49ers gave up, on average, 149 rushing yards in their three postseason games. “That’s not the way Shanahan and Lynch want things to go in the biggest games,” Kawakami writes. “That’s not how the 49ers are built to play. They’re supposed to win games with physicality, yet they got outrushed in all three of their playoff games.” Again, it all comes down to who they could get. Perhaps, as Kawakami points out, Wilks will get another year and, if it doesn’t work in New York in 2024, Robert Saleh could be available to return for 2025. Regardless, when Shanahan is asked whether Wilks will be back next year and the first thing out of his mouth isn’t “hell yes” but "“I haven’t talked to anybody yet,” that’s cause for paying attention to what happens in the coming days. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/could-steve-wilks-be-in-danger-of-being-replaced-by-the-49ers

Let's not go too crazy with OL upgrades
WarPanthers89 replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Multiple starters are questionable from a health perspective and some even from a performance perspective. We have zero depth that is proven….so yeah we need all the help we can get. We have two guys I really trust at this point when healthy which is Corbett and Moton. We definitely need upgrades and depth along with a brand new WR group. -
Cmc is the perfect example of why you never trade away proven playmakers for picks unless it’s a 1st round draft pick, and only if you have a proven franchise QB. Trent Williams, CMC, DJ Moore etc. I can go on and on. You don’t trade proven playmakers for draft picks unless it’s a 1st round pick minimum and only if you are secure at QB

Fowler, Graziano: Panthers want to re-sign Frankie Luvu
WarPanthers89 replied to BlueBuck24's topic in Carolina Panthers
People say this all the time but either way, he’s not getting that type of deal. The cap is an illusion and he’s not a player you would ever have to worry about not playing hard enough to earn the money. He was underpaid every year he has been with us. This is a dictionary picture perfect example player that you pay. He’s the best team leader we have other than Brown -

lol CMC/DJ is a great example of why you don’t let good players go for picks. He was one of the very few people on the team who brought the energy, played his ass off, and never quit even though we were the worst team in the league. He’s the perfect example of the type of player that you do not let leave. -
This is what a real super processor looks like...

Not a single person thinks Bryce was the better pick at this point. People may have thought he was walking into a worse situation, but looking at the season, he had better everything for the 2023-2024 season. No questions CJ performed on an other level than Bryce, but you cannot question that he had better coaching, better offensive game planning, better adjustments, better O line performance, better WR’s, better TE, and a better running game. I get your point on CJ, but everyone on this board has beat this narrative into the ground and we all agree about CJ vs Young at this point, but you cannot be serious in saying Young was in a bette position after watching last season…..we were literally the worst team in the league for a QB to be in.
