  1. But we should have traded everything for him... /s I always wanted Minshew/Trubisky, but I think Darnold is going to end up being the better option if this small sample size is indicative of things to come. And I think he's better than anyone we could have drafted (at our spot) as well. I never wanted Jones or Fields.
  2. For me, good defense is all about deception/confusion (along with the players of course), and Snow is as good as anyone I've seen in causing uncertainty for opposing offenses.
  3. Quickness and violent impact make a huge difference. Not all guys are prepared to really "bring it".
  4. Rhule comes off to me as a guy who's absolutely obsessed, even relative to the general NFL standards of obsession you must possess to exist as a head coach in this league. I just hope his fire doesn't burn too bright and extinguish too soon. Everyone is human and has their limits.
  5. Guys like Snow make you wonder how many "mad geniuses" are hiding under the rocks that never get a real chance to shine.
  6. That play will be etched in my gray matter until I'm dead and gone. The most impressive aspect of that play wasn't even the play by itself, it was the fact that Smitty was playing with that intensity and fire when we were getting blown out late in the 4th. GOAT.
  7. We've had some good fortune in terms of early scheduling/injuries. And I think this is exactly what a young and developing team really needed in order to grow into their self-belief. Sometimes you have to SEE that you are what you think you can be in order to fully buy in, but once you see it, all doubt vanishes, and there's no stopping you. Having 2 rookie QBs making their first start in the first 3 weeks is exactly that kind of cocktail, and it could propel a very interesting run this season.
  8. As a defense-first type of fan, it warms my heart. I hope we keep it up all year.
  9. It's an NFL game on the road. Better go in there all business, no matter who lines up against you.
  10. If he continues like this, we found our franchise QB on the scrap heap. What a minor miracle that would be.
  11. You can't draft everyone. All teams - even the top teams - must contend with weaknesses in their roster. You've got to scheme around the soft spots as best you are able. That will always be true. That said, it's high time to prioritize the o-line imho. I hope we finally see some real attention given this next off-season.
  12. Fare thee well giant stache. We hardly knew ye.
  13. It's just hard to take a player of CMC's talent off the field. If you were coaching, you'd probably realize it too.
  14. No game will play out perfectly, despite design. There are many moving parts and variables within both teams that interact on the field of play. If you come out with more points than your opponent and see that you could have played better with some small changes/reversals of fortune, you had a good week. In the end, half the teams in the league would trade places with us today. (talking about W/L - don't be pedantic. :P)
  15. Of course as a fan, you hope, but trying to be as impartial as possible, I think it's a tall ask. Our D will have to create turnovers/field position advantages. If we're able to do that, I think its' possible, but the Saints defense is legit, and like it or not (I don't), Sean Payton is a great (and incredibly annoying) coach. I'll hope for the best though.
  16. Any given Sunday. 0-1 is just 0-1. Things are a constant work in progress.
  17. Yeah, I don't want to make this a thread about "what sport is better" as that is very subjective of course, but soccer and baseball are my favorite sports. When there is less of something, there is generally a higher value associated with it. For me, soccer maintains constant tension, and I just really love the game. I understand why some find it boring, but not to me. Yes, it often feels like a foregone conclusion. The ball is going to be moved, and with relative ease most of the time. It just saps any tension, as you said. Don't get me started on baseball, lol. I miss the small ball of the 80's (and other eras) so much. At least we had the 2015 Royals who were an anomaly - winning the title with small ball when everyone else was crushing the long ball or striking out, and it's only getting worse. What a great team and series that was - even the year prior against the Giants. Lots of interesting opinions in the thread. Appreciate the replies.
  18. Oh I know why things are the way they are. I just don't like it. Not that I can do anything about it, lol.
