Sam. Just keep same here. Hes a nice guy, not our future, brings no drama, everyone like him, still cheap.

TE class is too loaded in the draft this year to spend money on a FA. be smart this year. save the money for next year after our QB has developed for a year.
-
This draft class is worse than last years, unless you need a CB.

Carr is less risky. Let's say we sell the farm and move up but the rookie QB busts. Then we are really screwed.
Even though personally I would just keep Sam if we want to draft and develop. Sam will be much cheaper and will allow us to keep more cap space for next year when it's time to really compete.
if we want to draft a QB and develop then you re-sign Sam. If you are not drafting you sign Carr. If you are tanking for a top QB, then you draft back, pick up another first to give ammo and start Corral. Corral you are 100% guaranteed to suck and win no more than 5 games. The dude is a freaking bum. Its embarrassing that anyone thinks he could be the guy.

If that is the case for our coaches, they need to trade back and pick up a first next year from someone. You either suck enough to get your QB or you pay up in draft capital. I’m fine with either, but my goodness…. Pick one and don’t be mediocre.
Agree. Trade back with TB who is in the market for a QB. Get JSN at 18/19. And let TB suck next year and have their top 10 pick.

If this was 2024 and Caleb Williams or Drake Maye are up there then I am all about it. But when you have a bunch of QBs that every one views differently and aren't even the top overall prospects on the board, then I am passing.
-
its a tough spot because we either have to commit to Carr first. if we do, we are out of the QB market in the draft.
Carr is a top 12 QB? He has played for a top 3 dysfunctional franchise. Bringing him here, with this coaching staff he would thrive. He is a team player and wants to win. If we pay him then I am all in.
Honestly, rather have Carr then move up to #1 and give up multiple first rounders. That philosophy has NEVER worked out.

Tell that to the posters who still vouch for Darnold and want to bring him back
you can want to bring back Darnold and still draft a franchise QB.

if we go to a 3-4, what does our current defense look like? a lot of you are better than me on where these guys fit.
-
also, your logic is terrible. basically, like most GMs, hes 50/50 you give a handful of examples and say these are good and then you give a handful of examples and say these are bad.

Can anyone tell me what Fitterer has done to deserve staying though the next head coach? What’s his best move? Drafting Icky? Signing some offensive linemen who panned out?
As far as I can see he wasted a ton of resources on Sam Darnold who sucked ass most of the time he played for the Panthers, whiffed on re-signing some key players like Hasaan Reddick, drafted injury prone Jaycee Horn instead of Slater or Justin Fields…
Wait why is he still the GM again?
with this logic can you tell me why any GM besides a handful have a job?

at 9 - id stomach it and hope 100% for the best.
trading what we would have to give up to get there. probably talking both 2nds this year and 1st and 2nd next year. NO.

What is YOUR ideal scenario for this offseason, but within reason?
Pick your HC;
Who do you want to START at QB week 1;
Who do you WANT us to draft, within reason at 9 (we are not getting Will Anderson or Jalen Carter);
and 1 FA you think we have a REASONABLE chance at.
HC - I was leaning Ben Johnson, but now I am thinking about Mike Kafka - Andy Reid tree and look what he has done with the Giants. 2 games away from the Super Bowl.
QB - Darnold. Sam earned himself a reasonable 2 year contract without a lot of guaranteed the 2nd year. He was good for us and at times great. He was never a BAD QB for us this year.
Draft - This one is tough, because its early and without the benefits of the combine and free agency who knows what will happen. Honestly too, its not a GREAT draft class IMO. Right now, if we were at 9 - ideally trade back if a QB slips and we aren't in the market for one (because our new HC likes what he has). But I guess Bryan Breese or QJ, but I'd lean QJ (see below at DT).
Free Agency - Resign Darnold, Bozeman, and Foreman and you can do so by cutting Shaq, Elfien, Ian Thomas (not a big save but just get him off the team, hes taking away a spot for a guy that might actually make a difference--unless, and correct me if I am wrong, but is he an elite blocker?), Haynes, D. Wilson. But a guy from another team, if he is available would be Da'Ron Payne, idk if we can make it affordable. But man would we have two great DT to pair with Burns and make his job easier.
a freebie that I wanted to add - two underrated WR to maybe take a look at are DJ Chark and Marvin Jones. and pair our two 2nds to trade back up late in the first if someone is falling, maybe a Michael Mayer.

i do not think there is anything the team could do that would make me not be a fan. but not pulling for the panthers, I would then have to choose another team, which i could never see myself doing and be AS invested as I am in this team.
i DID NOT want Watson and I wouldn't have been happy, but I do not think I would suddenly become a Chargers fan.

if not Harbuagh than him.

if we can get him at that price its a no-brainer, regardless if we draft a QB or not. that price for a back up NFL QB that can win you games is huge.
-
tanking in the NFL doesn't work. everyone wanted us to lose to Washington years ago. we would have ended up with Zack Wilson, awesome.

Apparently you weren't watching the game. The 4th down that was even worth discussing was when we were up 14-0 before half. But I get it as dudes like you know very little about football and are basically just fanatics as evidenced by referring to men who know have forgot more about the game than you've ever witnessed "pussies."
it was 7-0 when we had 4 and 1 at our own 42. again, it was 4 and 1 again from our 42, again, when it was then 14-0.
your age comment shows you know very little about football in 2022. if you want to keep Wilks, fine, but enjoy mediocrity. also, "evidenced by referring to men who know have forgot more about the game" is not english.

i dont think this guy was ever supposed to be ELITE.

Prepare to use the female genitalia to reference every NFL and college coach, because nobody goes for it up 14-0. It doesn't matter who is on the other sideline. This isn't Madden or whatever NFL simulation you are using in your mind.
you're incorrect, especially if you want to reference college. and it was 7-0.

He already has played himself into a reasonable two year contact. We are not the Texans. This is not a trash team. We are a coach and 3-4 difference makers away from a threat. We play in easily the worst division in football.

Not in his own territory up 14-0. NFL coaches don't do that. I have seen him punt it this year in college down to Ohio State on 4th and short. But you can't post don't hire Wilks every time you post huh?
the first time we were on about our own 45. on the road. against the GOAT. with playoffs on the line. dont be a pussy. Wilks does not coach in game.

idk the precise details but it seems like choosing Donte over Reddick was a disaster move. I knew we needed to keep Reddick.
