  1. Sam Darnold had three years as a starting QB before the Jets wrote him off. Whether that shows itself to be the right or wrong decision, it was three years. We're ready to declare Fields a flop after his first start as a rookie, against the #5 rushing defense and the #5 pass defense? Come on man. That story isn't anywhere near written yet.
  2. Here's the thing - If you told Panthers fans last February that those guys would be our secondary, we likely would have gone "Wow, that's not the worst secondary we've ever fielded. Combine them with our rush and we may be ok this year." To which we then added Reddick, Morgan Fox and DaQuan Jones.
  3. Is that Terrace Marshall crushing his guy? Sure looks like 88 who CMC cuts in behind. Love me a WR who can block.

    My god

lol at all the folks laying that at Paradis feet. Even if Paradis and Miller had handled that stunt correctly, Sam was still getting sacked. They brought six guys against our five protection. Someone was getting free, and the first guy to the QB came off the left. Now, as I understand it, the goal is to make the QB account for the guy with the longest path to the QB in those situations. The correct line call here was shift left. It looked like Daley and Erving did that, but Paradis, Miller and maybe Moton were shifting right. The question is what was the line call and who went the wrong way. If shift left was the call (and I think it should have been), then the stunt that beat Daley and Paradis wouldn't have worked. Additionally, Chuba could have chipped the wide defender on the side he went to. If you watch Moton's footwork, he wasn't postured to block a wide rusher. I just can't tell if that was because his guy stunted inside, or because he heard shift left. If shift right was the call, the stunt might have worked anyway, but in that case, it would have been the guy Erving blocked who would have had a free rush at the QB, because Erving would have blocked Daley's guy and Daley would have blocked the guy who ultimately got the sack. Basically, it looked like the line call may have been misheard or something, because the line was executing two different calls there.
  5. That's a bit much. If his ceiling turns into an improved Manhertz as a blocker and a wanna be Olsen as a receiver we've uncovered a 10 year starter. He's got a chance.
  6. Best wishes for JNo. Seemed like a pretty good dude when he was here.
  7. What this means to Donte is completely up to him. The Panthers now hold all the cards, assuming Henderson works out. If Donte wants to be here and make this his home for a reasonable price, we know the Panthers would love to have him. On the other hand, if he ties to take them to the cleaner, we can simply walk away and tell him "Good luck, we'll roll with Jaycee and CJ". You can never have too many good players, but you can pay too much for them. Hopefully this is our way of getting ahead of the game.
  8. Jacksonville just doesn't have a clue man. Think about it. Jalen Ramsey - traded to the Rams AJ Bouye - traded to Denver CJ Henderson - traded to Carolina That franchise is a mess. You don't trade away that kind of talent.
  9. Have you met the Jets? Poor decision making is kinda what they do. Like . . . since . . . Namath. I also watched that game against us. I would be genuinely SHOCKED if Wilson hadn't come out of that game hurt. Frankly, I'm borderline shocked he managed to finish it. Wilson may or may not turn into an NFL QB. But I won't ever question his toughness. That dude took a beating. It's still early, but my best guess for Wilson is trending toward David Carr. Unfortunately.
  10. I'm actually a little surprised we didn't look at one of the hybrid surfaces used in the premier league. Could be that it just wouldn't hold up, but those surfaces are much kinder to the athlete for sure.
  11. We're not fixing our line this year, that much is obvious. That was never part of the plan. We drafted a couple guys who we hope will contribute there by the end of the year. I expect us to invest in the OL in the coming offseason. But we ain't fixing it this year. And that's fine. This is what a true rebuild looks like. Three wins and everyone thinks we're a contender. We're not. We might make the playoffs this year if the stars align, but we aren't a contender . . . yet. Next year our salary cap hell officially ends. We have picks in every round but the second. Next year I do expect us to produce a playoff team. Whatever happens this year is icing.
  12. It's also clearly the MO of this staff. How many "big names" have we signed in the Rhule era? This staff is looking (generally) for younger guys who have very specific traits that work for them - regardless of what other teams see. I think Bouye may be the oldest guy we've signed under this staff. He's 30 if memory serves.
  13. Maybe you want to take a look at some of the Baldy Breakdown where Hassan Redick blows by Tunsil like he isn't there. Repeatedly.
  14. You still believe anything Rhule says? Are you nuts? The guy is a serial liar. And I don't hold it against him at all. He says what he says to help his cause. Not because he wants to let anyone know what's actually happening.
  15. While I do think there were, at best, some questionable calls and at worst some hijinx . . . I will say that the first lining up in the zone on Burns was legit. He was in the neutral zone. I never saw any clear shots of the subsequent ones, but that first one was probably valid.
  16. Ok. I wouldn't mind having Tryod as a backup either.
  17. I would love to see someone break that BS record. Strahan only got it cuz Favre basically took a knee for him. Oh, sorry, he "tripped".
  18. I don't disagree with anything here, however, the truly elite coordinators should be scheming around a known flaw rather that waiting for circumstances to change. Particularly when the circumstances are personnel related. Right now, Brady is operating at a 6.5 out of 10 level. There are definitely some execution problems with the players, but that's also part of the coordinators job. Get your players to execute.
  19. Agree. Not TD yet. But he now looks like what we've all come to expect of a Panthers LB. I think he may have realized that his contract looks very scary the next couple years - or very attractive from his perspective - and wants to stick around to earn it.
  20. 24 points is actually very average. Slightly below in fact. In 2020, 24 points per game would have put us somewhere between 17th and 20th. We aren't far off, and we can get there. To be a top 10 scoring offense we need to pick up another 3 points per game. A top 10 offense and a top 10 defense will always have a chance, so that should be our goal.
  21. Obviously I'd prefer he not be hurt. However, having him miss three weeks is an excellent opportunity for us to find out if Chuba can be a bona fide NFL RB. If Chuba can look like an NFL back, it will make it even easier for us to lighten the load on CMC when he returns.
  22. As others have said, I too am very concerned about his ball security. He still carries the ball low and one handed in the pocket, even when he is feeling the pressure. He still tries to do some things he probably shouldn't. He still needs to face some adversity. Trailing in a game, even if not in the 4th, though I'd like to see that. We'll soon see how he looks without the best tailback in football. All that said, I see progress. He is improving. He is learning. His upside is starting to show through. This is all we should expect this year. As long as we continue to see consistent progress this year, we can feel pretty good about this guy as our QB. Right now, I see this guy as a much more athletic Jake Delhomme. Obviously, we want to see him display that clutch gene that Delhomme had a triple serving of . . . but if this guy turns into a more polished and athletic Delhomme? With that defense? At that point we can start to dream again.
  23. We need to keep reminding ourselves that this is not our year. We're a promising young team with loads of potential, but realistically we're still a season away from really competing.
  24. Unfortunately, he also dropped a TD. The first drop I think was on Sam, it was high and hot. Too accustomed to CMC, because CMC probably does catch it. We shouldn't expect Chuba to be CMC.
  25. Sam. 100%. The only thing he could have done to be any better was hit that deep shot to DJ, and that was just inches off.
