To me, Campen is a no lose situation. Seems pretty obvious that the players will be largely the same ones who ended last year. We might get some help, but don't expect it to be a lot. If he comes in and turns the line around, there is no one else to steal his thunder. It will be VERY clear that he did it. His reputation improves. If he comes in and there is no change, you can't blame him. The entire team is a mess, the line moreso than the rest. One of the best OLine coaches in the league couldn't fix it. That's an indictment of Rhule and the front office. We can't lose with this guy.

This appears to be correct. Each charge is considered individually. If any charge met the legal requirements, it can be pursued individually. The fact that no criminal charges were pursued say a lot. The fact that it took the grand jury only a day to decide this for all charges says a lot. I'm not a fan of Watson's moral choices at all. But there was no evidence that met the legal requirements to suggest he is a criminal. This is to me the important thing we all should take from this. He's not a criminal. You can still dislike Watson for whatever reason you like. But I'd remind everyone here to look back on their own life and remember that most of us have made questionable moral choices in the past. Being rich only exacerbates the situation. If I was rich at that age, I daresay I'd have made some really stupid moral choices. I won't cast stones at him for that. I'll hope that he learns from it.

No, those are solid reasons why Cam will not be part of our team next year. Your only "reason" is because of an existing relationship. Mine involve thinking critically about the team and situation.

This will not happen. We already have 18 million on the books for a backup QB. You don't get to add 35 more for Deshaun and still sign Cam. That would be a truly masterful way to completely throw the team in the toilet. We paid Cam what, $6 million for half a season last year? Would he suddenly take four million for a full season with NO CHANCE to play? Come on man, have you followed Cam? He wants to play. With Deshaun here he would offer us literally nothing. Not to mention our other needs! Our OLine was historically awful. Taking on Watson's contract effectively means we have ZERO cap remaining. Oh, and we just gave up our chance to fix it this year in the draft. We need a franchise QB. I'm just not sure the asking price is one we can pay while getting the best out of our team. Burns is surely gone. Reddick is gone. Gilmore. Jackson. DJ's extension would be that much harder. We could easily win a few more games next year with Watson - but we wouldn't be a better team. We'd waste the best years of our franchise QB's career trying to build a team around him. Getting your hands on a franchise QB in this fashion won't get you to the SB.

I don't think this is really what that school of thought intends. I believe the "build the team" school of thought simply says: If you believe you have identified a franchise guy, draft him regardless of where others feel he should "slot". If you don't see one, fix everything else you can until you have the opportunity. Keep doing that until you see the opportunity you need to get one. It's exactly what makes a team a playoff contender year in year out. Maybe they don't have "the guy" for a few years, that doesn't mean they give up. It doesn't mean they don't compete.

On any staff besides ours this would be an absolute nothing move. No one would even note it. Of no importance whatsoever. With our staff so far beyond the pale however, any move is like salt in the wounds at this point. Nothing they do will be right. Only a massive turnaround will rescue them, and with our cap and draft capital the correct resources to create that just aren't there.

Agree. I think we're gonna want Bouye's presence in our DB room this year. Henderson and Horn have the pedigree to be one of the best CB duos in the league. Chinn is a DPOY waiting to happen. But you need that stabilizing presence. Especially for Henderson who is either going to turn it around here or bust completely out of the league. And with Henderson, it's 100% in his head.

I mean, ok, so he had a kid with another woman. He wanted it kept quiet. The mother agreed, he paid her. He set up funds for the mother and daughter. Now the alleged daughter wants . . . what? I don't get it. She can say who her father was, but she loses support because that's what was agreed. Parents don't owe their adult children anything financially. This woman is apparently succesful, so . . . does she somehow believe that being "publicly" Jerry Jones daughter is going to make any sort of difference in her life? A positive difference? Really? Dumb.

If he continues the form he found for us, that's a great signing. If he slips back to his career averages, he won't cost much to get rid of. Win/win for a change.

That's not semantics, it's called burden of proof. This is how the law works in America, innocent until proven guilty. For a criminal case of any kind, burden of proof requires a legal definition of "beyond a reasonable doubt". For a civil case, burden of proof requires a legal definition of "preponderance of the evidence". These are important definitions everyone needs to understand, but for some reason aren't well understood or widely taught. A lot of outrage could be easily avoided with education regarding our legal system and particularly toward the definitions and application of the law. I once sat on a jury for a wrongful death suit. While the situation was very sad, the education and understanding I got of our legal system was invaluable. I know a lot of people see jury duty as a burden, but it really will give you a great appreciation for the country we live in and how much thought and care has gone into creating the system we have. It's not perfect, by no means. But we have some very good standards here that we shouldn't take for granted.

With this regime, it doesn't seem to be the guys they talk about that we should be concerned over. "I'm looking forward to working with and coaching Cam", etc. Stories and leaks like this seem to be routine. And frankly, they should be with a good staff - not that this staff will ever be accused of such. But, a good staff should tailor the "leaks" to throw off their competition.

Chatter makes sense. It's possible - not necessarily likely - but possible that after Friday he's left with only the civil cases. If the grand jury doesn't indict him, it's a shot across the bow to the civil cases as well. If prosecutors can't meet the standard for criminal charges, it doesn't necessarily mean he gets off from the civil, but it makes it more likely there is a settlement.

He's a luxury. We have necessities we need to focus on.

The only thing I would have to say about any of it is that if Luke Kuechly doesn't deserve to be in the HoF I don't know who does. I saw Jack Lambert play. Harry Carson. Junior Seau. Urlacher. Lawrence Taylor. None of those guys have a thing on Kuechly.

The current regime has botched the QB position since they arrived. They will continue to do so this offseason. They have displayed no ability to accurately evaluate QB's, which is the heart of their problem.

I hope he gets it . . . elsewhere.

That to me is the key. I'm a big fan. I think we should keep him. I also think we should stop treating him like he's JStew. If we need three yards between the tackles, fine, draft a guy to do that. If we are gonna get him out on the edge with motion, match him up against LB's, create scary looks for a defense, GREAT. Give him carries and catches, but make sure he gets those in places where he can be the guy he is.

Said it before, will say again, when you have to restructure someone who just signed a contract LAST YEAR you've not doing it right. This is a desperate staff trying to save themselves instead of a forward thinking staff who in their first couple years took the right hits to put themselves in a position for success moving forward.

While what you say is true, the point that needs to be considered is that after 2020, the staff KNEW what they had with Chinn. They KNEW they had a box safety / LB who could conceivably be an All Pro in that role. And un-apologetically moved him. All of your assumptions about others on the roster not being up to the FS role could be right. But who was it who went thru 2021 Free Agency and failed to fix that? The one thing I can give them is that Burris was injured an awful lot. However, even giving them that card to play, they used Chinn largely as a FS even when Burris was available. It would be criminal to go into this year with Chinn penciled as the FS. We'll see what they do.

Every time we played BC at guard last year he got overpowered. He just doesn't appear to be "that guy". I just don't understand anyone who continues to push him into a position he just doesn't seem to fit. We saw consistent improvement at LT. Unfortunately, in the midst of a terrible season we managed to get to the end of it without knowing if we had an NFL LT on the roster. It's just . . . dumb. So now, we're going to draft some guy in the top 10 to be a LT. And it's really hard to argue against it. But it's going to mean that our 3rd rounder from last year is a flop. Worse, he could end up going to another team and becoming a decent LT. This staff is so frustrating.

The problem here is that it shows us a REMARKABLE lack of planning on the part of our front office. We just gave Moton the contract LAST YEAR. We can't even plan a year into the future! That's terrible. Now, we're going to be paying a RIGHT tackle LEFT tackle money against our cap going forward. Moton is great, don't get me wrong, but he's not a left tackle. Just laughably bad management.

I don't know if he'll succeed here. Obviously I hope he does. He has a lot of connections in the league and he's been around a lot of success. But in one statement he's managed to show more understanding of how to build an NFL offensive line that our entire staff have demonstrated in their tenure: Your starters need to be great at ONE (*@#ing POSITION MATT. Your backups need to be versatile. I hope he can convince our coaches of this.

I would be more surprised if we didn't meet with him. There is absolutely no reason NOT to do so.

I'd rather see Mariota than Trubisky. I think Trubisky is the better player, but Mariota has legs and around here that's gonna be important. Anyone who thinks we're going to fix our line this offseason is in for a rude September. That's assuming we figure out how to sign a roster with so little money.
