This is fuging horrible

Haven’t gotten to his tape yet, what are some key things you like about Mason Taylor? All I know is he is Jason Taylor’s son.
-
Yeah, traditional media is going to pump him up heavily. Media tends to be overly reactionary, NFL front offices already knew how freaky of an athlete Shemar was. Same situation of elite traits and poor production will carry his draft conversation. All it takes is one team to fall in love with the potential, Travon Walker went 1st overall off his traits. If there is one position I value traits more then others it is DE, to survive in the NFL you need a blend of length, size, explosiveness and bend which is Shemar to a tee. People will ding him for his production which is valid, but give me Shemar over a production merchant in college football who has little to no NFL traits and can’t survive. Plus at the very worst Shemar is already a great run defender.

Great post, Shemar is definitely a player I think our front office is going to scout and consider heavily. If we could trade back to the 14-18 range and add a few picks in the draft I would be pumped.

Very true, it can be very confusing to convert someone who runs a traditional 4-3 role to 3-4, take a player like Shemar Stewart in this draft in college he was listed at 281-290 lb in college. Now he comes into the combine at 267 lbs, he went from 3-4 base DE size to more 3-4 OLB size. I’m not totally sure where to project him for us, but I totally agree 4-2-5 has been becoming increasingly popular. I wish we would run more Cover-1, Evero having our corners 10 yards off the WR and watching screen plays and short passes shred all all season is just dumb. Especially with Jaycee being an ideal press coverage guy, I wish Evero would adjust the defense to his players skillsets and not force them into his.
-
I hear you brother thank you, I should have specified more. Personally, I miss when we used to run a 4-3, especially with the run game returning in the past few years.
-
Not sure what you mean? Every defensive personnel lineup requires at least two DTS not even counting depth or additional DTS for different packages.

Let’s talk about it, what’s your reasoning?

Well said man, signing a stud DT would allow us to take true BPA across the draft. Plus I’m tired of paying old players on a rebuilding team, sign young proven guys. Add up all the dead weight contracts we have signed over the past few years, Shy Tuttle, Hayden Hurst, Von Bell, Ian Thomas etc and we could have signed atleast a few really solid guys, we gotta stop beating bin hunting these overpriced vets.
-
In my eyes Milton Williams should be our #1 option going into free agency. We’re coming off the worst defensive season in NFL history, FYI to the casuals we’re not signing Tee Higgins. We allowed 3057 yards rushing last season, we all witnessed Shy Tuttle getting bullied game after game. Yes, Derrick Brown is coming back next season, but we do not have another even JAG level DT. In my eyes it is a top 3 need, the ability to pair Derrick Brown with a true 3 tech would completely alter the makeup of this defense. It’s rare to find a gem like Milton hit the open market, if it wasn’t for the eagles being so talented on the DLINE and having to retain multiple starters, this type of guy would never in any other circumstance hit the open market. Key Facts: -Only 25 years old -12.8% pass rush win rate(6th highest for a DT in 2024) -Natural fit next to Derrick Brown -Freak of freaks athlete What do you say fellow huddlers?

Georgia LB Jalon Walker Combine measurements As an edge: HT: 6010 (2nd percentile) WT: 243 lbs. (6th percentile) Arm: 32” (5th percentile) Hand: 10 1/4" (79th percentile) As an off-ball LB HT: 6010 (30th) WT: 243 lbs. (63rd) Arm: 32” (37th) Hand: 10 1/4" (90th) I wish he tested at the combine, only way he has the chance to play edge is if he is a freak of freak athlete. I hate to be that guy but taking him at 8 would be a total reach, seems like an amazing human being and competitor but we need to draft the best player possible not the gritty Carolina guy.
-
Could not have said it better myself, basically all of these picks are considered steals in terms of current draft projections. Kobe King is a real Mike LB, 6’1 245 he is thick. Been around him in person a lot he is a really nice guy, and he is one of those guys where he is an absolute unit. He will definitely rise predraft, would love to see him as a Panther.

This is actually an amazing draft, not sure why people are complaining about us prioritizing safety. It’s a a major need and our front office has come out and pointed it out as such. Don’t be surprised if we sign a FA and draft someone or draft two, this is a great safety class. I would be shocked if Starks fell to the second, but he would fit Everos defense to a tee.

Part 2 of players I like in this draft for us

This is a great list, Shemar Stewart has quickly become a draft crush of mine. When looking at his production it’s terrible, only 2 sacks in his best season. But, when I watched his tape you see a powerful monster of a man who is one of the few DE that can drive an OT straight back to create pressure. He gets consistent pressure, he just doesnt finish plays. 32 pressures and only 2 sacks is an anomaly, he has the ideal physical profile that is simply rare in today’s game. And his frame and size allows him to be a dominant run stuffer, I doubt he ever becomes an elite pass rusher while he’s a freak athlete he doesnt have elite bend which in todays game is shared trait among all elite pass rushers. But, he will be one of the best run defenders in the league, and an 8-12 sack guy in his prime. Considering our needs, if we traded back a bit to the 15-20 range and drafted Shemar there I would be a super happy camper. -
This is just ridiculous, I would understand if you inferred he could be used as a wildcat QB or Cordarell Patterson type scat RB. But what are you even talking about? Abdul Carter makes zero sense as a comparison, he has been a defensive player his entire career and also was put on pass rush situations many times prior to fully switching to DE. Switching players from offense to defense or vice versa never happens, unless your a Travis Hunter who has proven that at the collegiate level on both sides. He wouldn’t just be learning how to play OLB he would be learning the basics of tackling, pursuit angles etc that you learn while being a defender for years. On top of the fact he’s a projected day 2 wr, why would he switch or how would a team get value back?

Tony Pauline: Panthers like CB Will Johnson

Eagles drafted Quinyon Mitchell(RD1 and Cooper Dejean(RD2) last year, went from the 30th ranked defense last season to the best in the league. Obviously, adding Fangio has a lot to do with that but their defense is so elite because of both their monster Dline and secondary. It’s a synergistic relationship, more QB pressure = more interceptions and breakups. And better coverage = more time for the DLINE to get home. -
As a Penn State fan I could not be happier, Dani is a DAWG. Will be a first rounder next year. If you like Dani as a prospect I think you would love Jared Ivey, he is a big 6 ft 6 285 DE, great run defender and has a true bull rush aspect to his game. Needs to add some tools to his pass rush belt but I think he’s gonna play in the league for a while.

If we sign Milton Williams I would literally poo my pants with excitement, my dream FA signing.
