I mean, Tepper's first choice for HC had Dallas as a high seed and his last QB we placed the highest bid for won a Super Bowl.
-
The point is he doesn't have the balls to make a prediction, he said something to cover his own a$$ that other reporters have been saying since Sunday.
-
So he essentially said the sky is blue?

I think one thing that should be considered is him going to the Falcons or Saints is going to require some HUGE moves that will be noticeable. It will probably also not happen this week because going to either of those 2 teams would require Watson playing hardball AGAINST the Panthers. People assume Watson will pick one team and play hardball, he will likely give a list and we will likely be on it. The Saints or Falcons DO NOT IN ANY CAPACITY have the ability to outbid us without dangerously hurting their ability to field a solid 53 man roster in 22-23
-
I don't believe it necessarily, I'm just saying IF it's true

We need to get out of this, if HE is calling other teams, you don't give 2 of your young core players and 3 1sts for someone calling teams himself

Honest Question: Why would Watson choose Carolina?
Chiefzack replied to Billy Love's topic in Carolina Panthers
Watson graduated from Clemson in 3 years. He finished his degree with a high GPA -
I mean, our HC was likely our 3rd choice and Wilson, Stafford, and now possibly Watson blew us off. The only chance any Charlotte NBA or NFL team has at being successful is drafting and winning with rookie deals. People hate Hurney for overpaying players, but the man drafted the three greatest players in franchise history. Small market teams are forced to overpay because the players will sign in bigger markets for less money. I don't care about getting Watson at this point, the small team stigma puts at such a competitive disadvantage we have to hit on ALL of our picks to win a SB. LA traded their way into one.

Please, New Orleans hosts the Super Bowl like every 3-4 years, the NFL is on a love affair with them. They're allowed to flirt with risking not being able to field a team under the cap by kicking the can with the assumption the cap will go up (while not illegal, it's risky and the NFL will let them off easy when they inevitably can't fix the cap mess). If Carolina tried what New Orleans does, we would lose draft picks for conduct detrimental to the integrity of the NFL. "Correction" while they haven't hosted it recently, the city of New Orleans has hosted the 2nd most SBs behind Miami.

If Deshaun goes to the Saints, I'm not just done with the Panthers, I'm done with the NFL. People like to $hit on our FO here, but if Tepper had his way, McCarthy would be the HC and Stafford would be our starting QB, we beat LA and Dallas's offers. I'm done with this whole "big market" sports BS, this crap is turning into the NBA. The Hornets will never win a championship because 3 players can choose to go in a big market and bully everyone else. It's not about Watson at this point, it's the fact Tepper has spared no dollar to field a winning team and is willing to give the biggest haul in NFL history and it's STILL NOT ENOUGH for us to get anyone to QB this team outside of the draft. You're seeing why Rhule still has a job, because anyone who has a big TV name steals any players that are not drafted. We are now the Hornets, we have to overpay and players and coaches still won't come here. It's not even about Watson at this point, we HAVE TO WIN this trade, we will deal with Watson for up to 13 years if we don't. If Houston lets the Saints screw them, the NFL can kiss my A$$

Exactly, hence why highest bidder gets him. New Orleans will exit the room within so many days, NO will have to get somewhere close to our offer for the NTC to matter. #18 is nowhere close in value to #6. New Orleans would essentially be making Houston lose an entire 1st round pick in value should that trade happen.
-
Just like the NFL has a salary cap that the Saints are constantly allowed to abuse every year? They're literally pushing back salary in assumption the cap will go up every year, yet the NFL doesn't do crap. The year after Covid they came dangerously close to that, a recession or a massive fan revolt that drops revenue will eventually screw them up, but the NFL will let them pay a luxury tax cause Katrina.

I'll say it for the 4th time, New Orleans is not waiting 3 months to sign FAs or a QB (or extend Winston). Watson grew up liking the Panthers and Falcons, if the NTC held that sort of power, he would go play in Atlanta to play in his home state. The NTC can act as a tie breaker for two teams who have similar trade packages, not as a means for the Saints to give a vastly inferior package to Houston. #18 to #6 alone is about the value of 2 1sts and a 2nd, Houston is not giving that up because Watson said so. If Houston hold out, New Orleans will be forced to forego being active day 1 of free agency and be forced to plan for the draft without certainty of even having draft picks. Only way NO gets Watson is if it's a draft day trade and they give 4 1sts. If NO doesn't have the cap or picks, no trade can happen. Carolina can pick a player for Houston at #6 if they need more time. They will starve out New Orleans.

Cousins was extended in Minnesota today. Only way Saints are getting Watson is if New Orleans offers more then the Panthers, no team is going to base their entire offseason around him if they are not 100% sure they will get him. A holdout would last until the draft, New Orleans isn't going to not sign FAs for the chance Houston won't keep holding out. Highest bidder gets him, Watson has no choice, Houston could sue him for his signing bonus if he refuses to play. If Watson would like to repay in the neighborhood of around $50 million in liquid cash due to breach of contract, sure, hold out to go to the Saints. Houston likely had the owner's friend try to get him charged lol, they are not giving him to the Saints for peanuts compared to a Panther trade.
-
They don't have to. The Saints have limited cap space and way overpaid Taysom Hill, they will eventually be starved out and move on. Only the Seahawks and Eagles have the capital to pull off a coordinated hold-out against the Panthers for Watson. I don't think personally Watson would not waive his no trade clause to go play for New Orleans, I'd say he would more likely do it for Pittsburgh. Houston is pissed and will not bend over to Watson, that owner is VERY stubborn. #18 and likely #20-32 overall for 2 years and horrible contracts is not making Houston give up on a bigger haul. Keep in mind, people forget, if Watson refuses to play you can't just fake an injury, you have to have a DR diagnose an injury to keep you out... Houston could sue Watson for his signing bonus. The way people feel in that fanbase and organization, some of them are ready to give up any sort of haul just to screw him over.
-
While I understand this indirectly involves Watson, but multiple QBs who have it recently have abused it. Could this lead to more teams saying "We aren't doing that,"? Stafford, Wilson, and Watson could all end up forcing their teams to accept inferior trades, you know this has to be something that will come up at the next owners meeting and potentially in future CBA negotiation.
-
You do realize the Texans have to drop 12 spots and give up Chinn, Burns, Brown for an overpaid vet to complete a trade with the Saints right? All the Texans have to do is starve out any team Watson is trying to leverage his way to until he agrees to go to Carolina. Carolina and Houston will agree to a deal in principle and Watson is told he goes or he sits. NO cannot match our trade package and Seattle doesn't seem to be interested in that.

OJ was charged criminally and had a racist cop finding the evidence
-
We may not get deshaun but he's not going to Seattle. He's not going to force his way out of an organization to go play for an organization who has a worse offensive line then us and their qb just forced his way out.

Payments have always come out March 1st for 6 months plan.
