Ron Rivera hints he "didn't mesh" with David Tepper
PanthersATL replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think anybody saw Luke's retirement as a player as being attributed to Tepper. There's a small chance that Luke retiring from his office job is slightly related, but there are plenty of stories about how that particular role wasn't the best fit for Luke, time-commitment-wise. I'd love to see Luke brought on as a specialty education coach -- doing tape reviews with individual players, to teach his preparation and analysis skills. Or even as a coach advisor, doing his own tape analysis and providing to the team. -
Thursday night flexing and the Panthers
PanthersATL replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Even taking into account that all fans in a stadium are local, not everybody is able to go to a mid-week night game that is scheduled 2 weeks in advance. Plus, the scheduling seems weird -- when a team has plans in place for a full week of practice/planning/recovery, and then the league pulls them aside and says, "yeah - about that.... just deal with another short week on your schedule" isn't very team-friendly, either. And doesn't that adversely favor those short-week teams by giving them a longer recovery timeframe the following week that their next opponents wouldn't have the benefit of? Late season, that could turn into a huge advantage. -
Depends on what you define as a "smart home". Not everything "smart" is a good idea. If you're looking strictly at having improved WiFi, then there are decent mesh networks from Eero, Google Nest, and Netgear Orbi. Be sure that whatever mesh you pick up supports WiFi 6 or WiFi 6E, even if you have zero devices that can utilize those protocols yet. Improved wifi coverage will not improve your overall Internet speed. That's a limitation of whatever plan you're on with your ISP. Wired connections will (for now, at least) always be faster and better than wifi connections. Especially for work-related stuff like video calls or 4k (or 8k!!!) video streaming. If your issue is wifi coverage, then maybe it's the placement of your existing wifi router than the need to go mesh. Always something to consider if mesh is the right choice to fix your situation or not. As for smart-home devices, "Matter" is the catchword of the day (unless you're 100% Apple, in which case maybe all you need to do is focus on HomeKit) Be careful -- folks have been able to hack into home internet setups through unsecured smart lightbulbs (not YOUR fault, but the bulb company's implementations). And if the company behind the Smart devices go under, you're left with a bunch of non-working devices that don't have a server to connect to.

As a music historian in the year 2500, you're tasked with identifying one singular song that identified music genres from this current timeframe (that timeframe could be from 1800 - today, if you need boundaries). With that in mind, while it might be easy to pick a single artist to best represent any particular style of music -- it gets harder when you're limited to a single song. So --- what ONE song would you pick to be the ideal representation in each (any?) of the following genres: Rock Rock and Roll Classical Punk Classic Rock Alternative New Wave Grunge Disco The 60's 80's Pop 90's Pop Country Rap Hip-Hop

I think the Panthers social/marketing team have done a terrific job in filming and sharing draft day activities in recent years Looking forward to what they do this year without the rumored handcuffs they may have been placed under in recent times

The Bucs change in logo and branding from "Bucco Bruce" to what they have now was fairly well executed. They kinda needed to do something. We do not. Sir Purr for the win

It's fixable on the helmet display. Just make the left-hand whiskers (which are the ones hidden on the right side of the graphic), black.

Was at one of these dinners once. The candidate was being asked so many questions/responding that they could barely eat anything on the plate. One of the sr people at the table had to jump in and say, "hey everybody - let's let them grab a bit to eat, we're all finished with our meals - they haven't eaten a thing"

Bring back Young Indiana Jones -
Looks like Apple is doing something super-awesome for their MLB streams They're going to have the local radio announcer audio as an alternative audio source for viewers Now if YouTube did that for its NFL sunday ticket, that would be awesome

Has Cam Newton submitted his retirement papers yet?
PanthersATL replied to CamWhoaaCam's topic in Carolina Panthers
He’s STILL not old enough to get that call, darn it. -
3 dozen eggs, probably.
-
I think he kept a low profile early in the season figuring out the best way to address it, plus the rock hill debacle probably took his attention away a bit. He may have just suffered from a bad sense of timing rather than reluctance in admitting the obvious.

*cough rock hill cough*

I doubt they'll force us to go to Europe this season, knowing we're doing Germany next year.

it was tough watching the Amazon Prime season of ALL OR NOTHING, feature the Cam vs Pittsburgh game. Ugh. (up to then, the show is terrific)
-
All teams get at least one primetime game. It may be Thursday. But it's still primetime.
-
Thurs, for sure. Right now, mnf or snf only if flexed later in the season. Still unproven to guarantee scheduling Might get better national coverage, lead games with Greg Olsen announcing though.

I'm surprised King even knows how to spell "Panthers". He certainly hasn't spent a lot of time writing about us over the years.

The telecast is just too darn long. There's no reason for them to joke every year about the length of the program. 25 awards? Each speech is a minute, we're looking at 30m just for this. The category/nominee list? If they can keep this to 90s total then that's about 45m. Throw in some fluffy other material, and you're at a solid 90m by itself. Let's add 4 minutes of commercials every half-hour, and you're basically hitting the two hour mark. There's no reason this needs to stretch more than 30m over that timeframe. No reason for the Oscars show to last longer than an NFL football game. On the plus side, they let most of the recipients actually give reasonable speeches without playing them off this year. Was able to watch the entire Oscars starting at 8p, pause it to watch the LAST OF US. Pause again to track down and watch one of the nominated Shorts -- and STILL catch up enough to watch the final four awards be given out live.
