What bothered me was the "what type of guys are we looking for" conversation. I didn't get anything that wasn't obvious. "We need a player that can block". Ok -- don't we look for that every year? I hope the stuff they cut out of the vid were things about WHY they felt a specific player met certain criteria that might be considered proprietary to our 2024 overall plan

I have no issue with the team owner being in the room during Draft Day. The improvement on the tape looked like the Tepps were not involved beyond casual conversations. It really looked like Dan and friends were running the show

The Carolina Panthers are hurtling towards threats of relocation
PanthersATL replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
the NFL wants to expand teams, not move teams (despite what's going on with Jacksonville -- and there's no way the Jags would pour that much $ into renovating their stadium if they're going to relocate to London as has long been rumored) -

He has been surprisingly quiet since Dan/Dave took over. It's been nice -

If I'm interpreting this correctly, the breakout makes sense: Column 3, things the Owner/team wants: better locker room, front office space. Premium spaces and club level that match what people are spending. Better press facilities because a happy press is a friendly press Column 2, things that benefit both the team and the city: an event pavilion, making the place look nice Column 1, things that make the city look good: better outside, better restrooms/security, a CITY VIEW from the stadium, improvements for the guest experience -
Patriots coach Bill Belichick is dating former cheerleader Jordon Hudson, according to reports. Hudson is 24 years old, and Belichick is 72 years old.

playing for the falcons is almost the same thing. Purgatory, at least

Not as big a slap as we'd hope. The NFL has officially disciplined the Falcons for tampering with free agents this offseason, including quarterback Kirk Cousins. According to a news release from the NFL, the team had improper contact with Cousins, wide receiver Darnell Mooney and tight end Charlie Woerner during the two-day negotiating period prior to the start of the 2024 League Year. The team will forfeit its fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and pay a fine of $250,000, while General Manager Terry Fontenot will pay a $50,000 fine. https://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/falcons-disciplined-tampering-with-3-free-agents/6HMPHBZFIFBEXEUZNEVDABSSVA/

Who needs a million dollars? Apparently, nobody
PanthersATL replied to PanthersATL's topic in Huddle Lounge
Even independent living in a retirement community can run $3-6k/month or more. And some communities have huge entry fees ($100k+ up front) that they hold until the tenant leaves -

likely an unpopular opinion: nobody should *rely* on SS to cover their expenses in retirement. If you plan for retirement in a manner that does not take SS into account, then you can treat any SS money you get as an add't bonus entry =-= Practical SS advice: the longer you can hold off before collecting SS, the higher the monthly SS payment amount will be. (In other words, don't start collecting at 62 if you can afford not to) -

it read like a poorly researched study -
One economist says you can retire on just $50,000-$100,000 in total savings, citing experience of actual retirees as evidence 85% of retirement-age Americans (65 to 74) said they were "living comfortably, or at least doing OK" when asked how well they were doing financially Only 15% said they were struggling. The finding matters, Biggs says, because most retirees have much less than $1 million in the bank. In the federal survey, the typical senior who reported a satisfactory retirement had $50,000 to $100,000 in savings. “It’s impossible to find any evidence that seniors need even a fraction of $1.46 million in savings to be financially secure,” Biggs wrote. By his argument, retirees don’t need nearly so much savings as financial planners say they do. source: https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2024/06/07/retire-without-a-million-dollars/73969717007/

Comparing Canales to Reich --- Dave seems happy/pumped to be doing what he's doing (and Dan, too). The player interactions that were shown may be isolated, but it appears that the team is buying into the positive outlook that Dave projects Definitely a better attitude vs Frank, who seemed to be going through the motions - and whats-his-name who was over his head and trying to not get exposed

Pepsi is no longer the #2 soda brand. All hail Dr Pepper
PanthersATL posted a topic in Huddle Lounge
Coke is still the top soda in America. But the runner up spot, long held by Pepsi, now belongs to Dr Pepper. After years of slowly gaining market share, Dr Pepper inched ahead of Pepsi as the number two soda brand in the country in 2023, according to market share data from Beverage Digest, a trade publication Coke: 19.2% Dr Pepper: 8.3% Pepsi: 8.3% (lower than Dr Pepper when carried out to more decimal places) Sprite: 8.1% Diet Coke: 7.8% https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/03/business/dr-pepper-pepsi/index.html -
