Panthers @ Raiders doesn't look good
PanthersATL replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
word is that NEvCAR ticket prices are crazy. Anybody with stories? -
Granted, it's a new stadium and a MNF game at that -- but I hope these prices are because of that New Stadium Smell vs what we may see charged in a few years when the Panthers eventually hit Vegas. (That'll be what, 2024 season maybe? 2025?) At these prices - and if these are what's consistently for sale throughout their first year allowing fans there, they'll be lucky if any seats are filled. What's the most you've ever paid for a Panthers single game ticket? What's the most you WOULD pay for a Panthers single game ticket?

Based on this (as of a few minutes ago), not North Carolina. On the other hand, it's *almost* 69%. Nice.

Official NFL Schedule Day Leaks and such and stuff

I hope week 17 is vs ATL or TB. I've been a fan of the final two (or three) weeks being divisional games across the league. -
According to Forbes' latest report on the Most Valuable Sports Franchises, the Panthers are #42. Over the past 5 years, our value has increased 63%. More importantly, we rank ahead of the Saints and the Bucs (isolating to just NFL teams, we're #22 out of 32...) https://www.forbes.com/sites/mikeozanian/2021/05/07/worlds-most-valuable-sports-teams-2021/

Saw this terrific profile on the Panthers' social media leader. It's always nice to see (at least one of) the people who run the Best NFL Social Team out there... If you haven't already seen the article, it's worth a visit: https://charlotte.axios.com/255917/the-woman-behind-the-panthers-social-media-and-her-miracle-child/ (Mods: didn't see this posted yet today. If it's a dupe, feel free to delete this...)

Disney has released their new NFL themed tshirts today ( available at Fanatics and elsewhere), just in time for the draft not really like taking the same graphic (football Mickey) and slapping every generic logo onto the shirt since it makes every team shirt look exactly the same as every other team shirt... , but if this is the sort of thing that strikes your fancy, are you a Panthers Mickey person, Panthers Vader, Panthers Luke, or Panthers Avenger fan? https://www.nj.com/giants/2021/04/nfl-disney-release-t-shirt-line-featuring-mickey-mouse-star-wars-marvel-how-to-buy-giants-jets-eagles-nfldisney-t-shirts.html

I imagine the timeline could have gone a little something like this under a different GM: =-=- On Monday Apr 5th, Hurney ordered a meatball sub from Subway like he always does. Spilled some sauce on his shirt. The sauce made a pattern like an airplane as Marty tried to wipe up the mess with one of those tiny Subway napkins. "An airplane? That's like a jet", Marty mumbles. "I wonder if the Jets have anybody worth trading with? DARN IT, this stain isn't coming out. Darn it. Darn it........ hrm.... Darnold?" That afternoon, fingers still greasy from the meatball remnants on his fingers, Hurney picks up the handset and spins the rotary dial. Once, twice, three times the rotary dial spins, making a satisfying "click click noise". "Hello, this is 411. How can I help you?" says the operator. "What's the number to the Jets locker room?" Moments later, Marty is talking to the locker room janitor, who figures this is one of those prank calls he's laughed at on the Simpsons. "What do we want for Darnold? Oh I'll play along. How about a 6th, 2nd, and 4th?" The janitor chuckles with himself for recognizing a prank caller, knowing that nobody would ever believe that was a real answer. Marty shouts into the phone, "IT'S A DEAL!" and slams the receiver down back in its cradle. He proudly puts on a fingerless glove, puts a feathered earring into his ear, and walks off into the sunset across the football field, raising his fist in the air with a sense of accomplishment as the soft strains of Simple Minds plays on his Walkman strapped to his fanny pack.

Ultimate Raiders Fan home... in Maryland
PanthersATL replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
A very important followup: https://slate.com/human-interest/2021/03/baltimore-sexy-funeral-goth-house-realtor.html "you should have seen it before. He somewhat neutralized it.... there were about 25 mannequins in the basement and some upstairs" "Is the seller a vampire?" / "Not that I'm aware of" "So to me the most shocking thing in the house is... the Raiders art on the walls. Aren’t you worried that Baltimore buyers will be turned off by that?" / "No one's been upset about that" -

According to a survey about which sports' fanbases smoke the most pot, it's Atlanta Falcon fans that lead the pack. UFC/MMA fans smoke the most marijuana out of all sports fans, with more than 41% saying they smoked weed while watching a match 36% of NFL fans smoke pot while watching a game, with Falcon fans and Ravens fans at the top of the list (with 77% of the fanbases claiming they smoke during a game). Patriots fans smoked the least. https://www.forbes.com/sites/ajherrington/2021/03/19/survey-reveals-which-sports-fans-smoke-the-most-marijuana/

PanthersATL replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
The hits keep coming. MNF gets the ability to flex games too, so SNF doesn't get the only lucky part of the draw. Will make traveling for games a bit more complicated late in the season, which is exactly what @RoaringRiot has been asking for, right? -

They have the technology to do it. And knowing how to handle/recover from the Mandalorian/WandaVision crashes on the Disney+ side of the fence just helps them build a better streaming network. It may not be that much extra $. ESPN+ can come as a package deal with Hulu and Disney+, so some folks may already have it (and may not even know it). And if Disney can figure out the tech to do it.... some people may balk at paying an extra $300 for all the games... but there'll be a fair number who'll say $100 just for a single team's games? That's the hook. -

PanthersATL replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is for the 2023 season, by the way. ESPN+ is currently $60/year... or different monthly packages that could range up to $20/month (your mileage may vary). No word on whether football would be an extra price or not. Thursday night games go to Amazon Prime for out-of-market games; stay on local TV if they're local teams per usual process. -
Looks like Sunday Ticket on DirecTV is dead. New home: ESPN+ More info to come. Congrats to Disney for this one -- they found a way to get money from the cord-cutters who stopped paying the cable ESPN fee.

As we're almost hitting the 30 year mark ourselves, perhaps it's worthwhile to note that some NFL teams were perennial laughing stocks of the entire league for years and years before finding success to stay in the Top Five (or Top Ten). We've been relatively lucky in having a minimum of horrible seasons among the larger number of mediocre and fantastic runs. Have the Panthers ever been referred to as a "laughing stock" or a given Easy Win outside of singular seasons? I don't recall that being the case, but I could be wrong. Those monikers have certainly been applied to a number of other teams we know... If memory serves me correctly, we've been typically in the Top Half of NFL rankings the vast majority of our years, so not nearly as horrible as another team that joined the league in the mid 90's has been over the same timeframe... A reminder talking about how horrible the Patriots used to be: https://samuelburleigh.medium.com/when-the-patriots-were-nfl-s-laughingstock-a-look-back-on-the-pre-brady-patriots-61415e4e1ba4
