  1. From https://www.pastemagazine.com/tv/hbo/best-hbo-series/, they ranked what they say are the Top 50 HBO series of all time. I don't think we can really complain about the top 5: The Wire The Sopranos Band of Brothers Barry Six Feet Under Happy to see BARRY that high up the list Game of Thrones still made Top 10, but I wonder if the overhyped letdown of the final season dropped them a few slots The middle 10-20 slots are all fairly solid shows. I'd have probably ranked Watchmen up a smidge closer to #1 from where it is. Almost definitely would have ranked I May Destroy You into a better number than where it landed Boardwalk Empire could likely slide back into the higher numbers Westworld at #36 is a surprise. Season one was fantastic, certainly better than Beartown. OZ at 42 is a travesty. That show (again, season one praise) was really good. And Euphoria definitely deserves better than it's #50 landing slot. Your thoughts?
  2. Oh -- and you shouldn't pass up an opportunity to hit up Johnny's Hideaway. (Maybe not on this trip, pencil it in for next time) IYKYK Other bars I've enjoyed: The Highlander (known for their tots, for some reason), Park Tavern, Porter Beer Bar (good burger there)
  3. "best" is subjective. everyone has different opinions on cocktails, music, beer selection, vibe, particular age group, time they get rocking, etc. What's "best" for some people may not be "best" for you with it being halloween, many clubs/bars are likely hosting halloween parties, which may change their normal crowd and timing for when things get hopping. For east atlanta? HRm.... uh, check out The Earl? look into the Virginia Highland/L5P/ East Atlanta Village areas? (others may have to chime in for real suggestions - I'm usually more food-based)
  4. MORE things to do in Atlanta if you're in town for the CARvATL game on Oct 31. If you like spooky haunts, NETHERWORLD (fearworld.com) in Stone Mountain is regularly ranked in the top 10 haunted houses in the country, occasionally making #1 Sunday night after the game, if you're still in town -- there's the HALF NAKED HALLOWEEN LINGERIE PARTY (everyone in costume is free to enter until 11:30p) Masquerade has their annual HEAVEN and HELL halloween bash on Saturday night. It's usually pretty good Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Hard Rock on friday night Ricky Martin/Enrique Iglesias concert friday night at State Farm arena Gov't Mule at the Tabernacle Atlanta United soccer at the Benz saturday night (man, that's going to need a FAST flip, who scheduled that crap?) DJ JAZZY JEFF and RAKIM at the Buckhead Theater Eykkah Badu and Goodie Mob at State Farm on Saturday
  5. Two Panthers-related Derbys. The one in Norcross/Peachtree Corners changed owners and stopped being a Panthers bar, oh, let's say early 2000's? The Derby in Sandy Springs @ Perimeter got torn down about... 5? ... years ago (maybe longer) and condos/apartments fill that space now.
  6. the Riot will likely have some sort of Panthers bar crawl on Saturday, too. I’m guessing.
  7. As others, have said, all depends on what you’re looking for. unique beer experience, Brick Store Pub in Decatur. Stupid Instagram stuff, The Friends Experience. halloween, highly recommend the little five points Halloween parade, if it’s still happening. west side is becoming more interesting. Roswell, Alpharetta, Woodstock, canton, and Duluth are seeing revitalized suburban districts with breweries, food, shopping districts. The belt line has sights to see and eat/drink along the way… if you have a car, you’ll have more options than if you rely on Uber or Marta. What part of town you thinking, what type of stuff?
  8. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar to perform at Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show https://www.nfl.com/news/dr-dre-snoop-dogg-eminem-mary-j-blige-kendrick-lamar-to-perform-at-pepsi-super-b
  9. Thank you Wikipedia, for your analysis https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_Stone's_500_Greatest_Songs_of_All_Time#2004_list The highest entry from the previous lists to be excluded is "Hound Dog" by Elvis Presley, originally placed at number 19. The original version by Big Mama Thornton is, however, present at number 318 after being absent from the earlier iterations of the list.
  10. I support getting a list of "greatest" whatever updated every so often. 17 years is a long time to not have anything new added. Bigger question isn't so much what's new -- but what was dropped from the original list?
  11. Can't say I disagree. Eminem declared that: "If you have an emergency, it cannot be with an urgency. "And if it is with an urgency and you are rushed to emergency surgery, you cannot be burned in third degree." He continued: "And if you're gonna murder me, it cannot be like you never heard of me. You have to know me." See the video here: https://www.ladbible.com/entertainment/music-eminem-lists-all-the-rhymes-that-should-be-outlawed-from-use-20210923 what other rhymes would YOU outlaw?
  12. is it just me, or are we seeing a larger variety of different player interviews this season vs the standard same players in previous years?
  13. Tom Brady is launching a clothing line, with the goal of "creating the finest sports brand in the world". Brady's co-founder helped Kim Kardashian on her "Skims" underwear line. More here: https://pagesix.com/2021/09/28/tom-brady-is-launching-a-clothing-line/

  15. Trilogy of Terror? Better clip:
  16. last week's epi was amusing. Saban was boring. Long was pretty interesting. we don't want this for the play-by-play, its for the "we're watching at the sports bar with our buddies and the sound is turned off, so let's do our own commentary" action. In a lot of ways, I like it better than hearing the constant chatterboxes filling broadcast time
  17. Atlanta has the largest city metro in terms of square miles, due to no natural boundaries preventing sprawl. JAX is limited by the ocean on the east, so can't really spread that direction much. https://www.wabe.org/atlantas-sprawl-tops-list-major-us-cities/
