  1. Drama's over. Let the dynasty begin. Also, let the funny commercials - now at BoA - get a-rolling.
  2. REALLY enjoyed THE BEAR on Hulu. THE BEAR is about a world-renowned chef who comes home to Chicago to take over his family's long-running sandwich shop. There's lots of "food porn" and what is probably the most realistic version of a restaurant kitchen that Hollywood has produced in a while. Trigger warning: there's one (absolutely fantastic) scene that will make some of you who have real-life restaurant experience go into a post-traumatic relapse. It's been out a week now, and it still has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It's just eight 30m episodes for the season, so a relatively quick watch. Somehow, FX/HULU has it listed as a comedy, but it's not really. Sure, there's some amusing pieces, but it's more drama than comedy Worth the watch. A+
  3. Well, the NFL certainly has new merchandise just for us. As seen on woot.com today:
  4. I, for one, welcome our new radio overlords.
  5. The Olympic committee HATED the overly commercialized Atlanta games. They may have made rules prohibiting it from happening again. Still, it does prove that an Olympics could be hosted without a debilitating economic impact. I think an argument could be made for a permanent "home" for the summer and winter games (making things a bit more cost-effective from that viewpoint), and then various countries could bid to be that particular year's Host Country at the venue. But that ain't going to happen any time soon.
  6. the Atlanta Olympics didn't leave the city saddled with debt or a bunch of venues that were left to deteriorate over time. Granted, some haven't lasted (the tennis facility made a solid attempt, but ultimately was sold to a developer) - but it was still less of a negative economic impact than other cities have fared. (sure, there was an insane amount of merchandising/sponsorship/logos everywhere -- but that's the tradeoff)
  7. After the toy car incident, didn't enjoy his sideline reporting as much. https://www.espn.com/nfl/news/story?id=2578808
  8. Former Panther MORGAN FOX's french bulldog, Winston, is a finalist in the prestigious Westminster Dog Show. Story: https://nypost.com/2022/06/22/westminster-dog-show-gets-4-finalists-and-one-owned-by-nfl-player-morgan-fox/
  9. I prefer to buy new vs used --- but primarily because we tend to keep our vehicles as long as humanly possible. Whether you go new or used, -- while it needs to be adjusted slightly for today's world, the goal is to keep the car long enough that it averages out to have cost just $0.10/mile.
  10. big fan of Toucher & Rich out of Boston's 98.5 Sports Hub. They talk sports, but they don't TALK sports. They've received a bunch of industry recognition, so they're legit. https://985thesportshub.com/shows/toucher-rich/
  11. assuming "he" is Watson: thought the bulk was fully guaranteed, aside from the 2022 per-game number? Folks suggesting the Browns are going to be on the hook for $230m regardless, due to how the contract was structured.
  12. a BIGGER panthers logo at midfield?
  13. Technically, *every* day can be a great day to be a Panthers fan. (it's the team/coaches/owner/circumstances/decisions/specific personnel/etc that occasionally makes this difficult)
  14. Amazon is going to open at $122 on Monday (post-split price). Guesses on whether that'll jump because it's more affordable to the average investor, or not really any impact because folks can buy partial shares nowadays anyway? On the bright side? The recent days of $100 up/down price swings are temporarily over (to be replaced with $5-$10 price swings, I'm sure)
  15. Join the various money threads in the Lounge most people don’t have nearly enough saved for retirement. If you do, then you’re way ahead of the curve vs the average American. https://www.investopedia.com/articles/personal-finance/010616/whats-average-401k-balance-age.asp
  16. From https://awfulannouncing.com/fox/greg-olsen-deserved-better.html
  17. I know the news is full of stories about outrageous medical bills. Is some of that more related to crazy malpractice insurance that the docs need to maintain? Or are you talking about how US drug prices are a bit higher vs other countries? Other countries' medical systems aren't necessarily better than the US. In many cases, you can get free care for whatever you need, but you may be on a waiting list for years
  18. Hypothetical example somebody is against oil companies they make an effort not to own oil company stocks , instead deciding to invest only in companies they believe in they believe in Coca Cola (or Pepsi, or Nestle, or some other manufacturer) and buy those stocks those companies are reliant on plastics and transportation fuel, both of which require oil… the purchase of which directly supports the oil companies that the hypothetical person is against All depends,on the companies and businesses/products, but there are going to be an almost infinite list of cross-usage scenarios that will contradict any single-focused investor
  19. Are we adding Drew to the Tepper-Wants-A-Veteran-QB discussion?
  20. if it makes anyone feel better, the Falcon's schedule is being classified as "brutal" https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2022-nfl-schedule-winners-and-losers-vikings-eagles-benefit-while-falcons-raiders-get-tough-slate/
  21. Rome didn't have a plan. A PLAN.
  22. It's printed on the schedule release promotional t-shirts. Certainly doesn't sound like total abandonment.
  23. Welp, there goes the neighborhood. https://deadline.com/2022/05/olivia-culpo-reality-series-discovery-plus-1235021487/ Hopefully it will be filmed during the season, so CMC won't be involved.* *Unless he gets hurt again, in which case...
