Some news was speculating he might not rush back into college either. More opinion pieces than sourced material but I wouldn't be surprised if he laid low for a while. Although I hated his press conferences I'm interested in hearing his first interview/presser post firing

Best spot for him would be something that has low expectations and would allow him the space to construct his usual turnaround plan. Wisconsin and Nebraska would not be low expectations programs, but Arizona State would. Especially if/when USC and UCLA depart, he would have a chance to have the tiptop of whatever the PAC-12 cobbled together. There are probably others that will open as well.

I don't care to ever hear him again. His talk is meaningless.

WFT gave up a 2nd and two 3rds for fuging Wentz lol.

I have zero doubt that Rhule would have an itchy hand watching this game and imagining the possibilities of what it might take to bring Wentz to Charlotte next season.

I like the way they are doing it now but I’d just expand it to where the 17th game on the schedule is an international game for every team and add a second bye.

    give London 8 games

    give Germany 4 games

    give Mexico 2 games

    give Canada 2 games

It might be safe to assume that the next cba bargain between players and owners would be 18 games and 2 preseason games in exchange for pot no longer being a no-no, especially if the winds of change prevail at the Federal level. Teams could play 2 neutral site games every season, no longer lose a home game, and it could be staged in other locales beyond London and Mexico City. It would logistically take a lot of work to pull off, but the headaches would probably be worth the boon of opening new markets like Asia to the game.

  4. .They could maybe make a go of it with a 6 team league or so. A smaller version of NFL Europe. It wouldn't be easy though, as evident from the continuous failures that alternative leagues here have experienced. Ideally they would be able to use homegrown talent, but there is not enough. So there is the problem, teams are made up of has beens and never weres, and once the initial novelty wears off it's just poor quality sport with teams that have funny uniforms and odd names.

  5. Well. Oh hey..did you know that teams lose because they don't know why they lose?

If only we, as a team, could figure out why we are losing. What exactly is holding us back, from being just good, to being great? It's a real mystery it seems.

2001? I remember getting gashed by the freaking Atlanta fullback at home

That sounds about right. We were swept that year 77-0. When people want to talk about hated rivals, any other team, they have forgotten that embarrassment.

That said, my vote was for the Bucs, for similar reasons mentioned already. I think that's when the bottom falls out.

He clearly has no awareness whatsoever.  Either that, or as I said, he is doing it on purpose.  It's the only explanation.

It's good old fashioned hubris. Or arrogance, or a combination. I sort of think that at this point in his life he feels as though he's made billions on making clever and shrewd decisions, so he has a gut feel or an eye for making the right call. He missed this one though, badly, and maybe it's a shock to the system, or thinking he can't possibly be wrong in his judgement here nd it all just needs a little more time to come to together.

Rhule isn't winning a Superbowl with this team, not this year, not next year, not ever. So what exactly is he here for then?

I think you can actually put money on that in Vegas if you are so certain.

The problem with keeping him here is if the record is bad enough, I mean we are talking a couple of wins bad, less than his usual output of 5 wins, how in the world does Tepper sell keeping him to the fanbase? At that point not only is Rhule still here, so far over his head that he is drowning, what does that say about the ability of the organization to attract players, coaches, as well as how much does Tepper even care? It would be a PR disaster.

  9. I felt 2 or 3 wins was the most likely outcome this season. Seattle, Atlanta, Pittsburgh or Detroit are the best chances for wins.

Seattle, late in the season, at their place will be a bit difficult. Especially if the team has quit.

Atlanta is not good either. It remains the best chance for a win I think.

Pittsburgh in theory can run the ball. It will be interesting to see how the Pickett era might play out this year if he is indeed the starter going forward.

I think that Detroit is a good bit better than us. Not sure we could keep up with them.

Bucs and Saints remain possibilities. We may get a worthless win against the Bucs JV squad at the end of the season.

  10. Arizona State would fit the role of underdog needing a turnaround to be competitive. That should be appealing to both sides. I would kind of wonder if ASU officials would be hesitant based on his current deal here. He would have to be available I would think. He needs to go back to college. He is not cut out for the NFL.

  11. It's beyond time. But it could get worse. I mean we haven't started a qb signed right off the street earlier that week yet. Rhule hasn't become a gum-chomping, hand clapping buffoon on the sidelines yet. He hasn't talked about missed opportunities every presser. He hasn't told the media to go ask the personnel department yet. We can still go lower and lower.

  12. Why would the Saints give us the friends and family price for Payton? Instead they would bring out a barrel and ask us nicely to assume the position. The price for Gruden to Tampa was 2 firsts. That has to be the starting point you would think for any Payton deal. The Saints would absolutely love to cripple us in exchange for Payton.

And no thanks on Quinn. Fine DC, but we saw enough of him in Atlanta and should be well aware of what he brings. I'd have to hope we could do better.
