Young has a frame like that of a high school player. The coach would be on him every day about lifting weights and eating right. Alabama this season is not the typical Alabama team, but they are still better stocked than 95% of the competition.  Young will not have that advantage at the next level. If I was making the pick at the top of the draft, I'm not spending that pick on Young. I don't care if someone wants to argue he's a Kyler Murray-type. Murray has not developed any at this level, and is not one of the top qbs.

Stroud is criticized for being a system qb. He's surrounded by top talent. They do a great job of scheming players open and then it's just pitch and catch. Not SEC level of competition. One read qb. Not mobile. Hasn't looked great every game. OSU curse. Is he worth the top pick? Probably not.

I guess the funny thing is, unless the qb is named Manning or Elway, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of evidence that a qb, as one of the top couple of picks in the draft, has met the moment.  It just seems like some of these prospects may be more Bradford than Burrow, and there is more depth with this qb class and less shine.

My thought on his next stop would be something that didn't have high expectations, and that would allow him to kind of weave his underdog turnaround plan that he feels comfortable with doing. Nebraska, while it's been an eternity since relevance, isn't really that low expectations kind of program. But again, my opinion matters means nothing on this. Maybe he does ok there, maybe he gets beat down every season by the real powers in the Big10.

The forthcoming "Way of the Cornhusker" brand presentation sounds cumbersome and awkward. Much like how his team will be on the field.

A qb needs to be drafted, and hopefully 1 that has a reasonable chance to be something. The cupboard is absolutely bare at that position, despite us appearing to have an embarrassment of riches there this season.

Right behind that is a te that has some skill and versatility to block some and catch some. Maybe even be a red zone theat. 

There are other places of need and depth, but I would be a bit disappointed if we were to take a cb first again, although I suppose it could be justified with Jackson probably losing his only standout feature, speed. I would still hate that if it were the pick.

It’s just strange to me how many excuses fans come up with to justify not tanking. There isn’t a qb worth it. It’s not guaranteed. Loser mentality…blah blah. 

This franchise average wins for five years straight, a half decade is like 5.5.

5 fuging games. Out of 16 and 17.

We need hope, we need to invest in a QB. Trade the farm for a top pick if we don’t tank. SOMETHING.

Panthers just solidified the worst stretch in almost 30 year history. Since inception, they are the worst they’ve ever been for the longest time period. Our stadium has NEVER looked so bad even with PSLs and business wine and cheese owners. The franchise is literally dying.

And yet some are jus nonchalant about tanking or even taking a chance lol. How do yall convince yourselves to cling to nothing it’s crazy.

 

 

Why get upset about either outcome? There is absolutely no control or influence that can come fanside. If they win a couple of games, they win a couple of games. If they lose out, they lose out.

I'm endlessly pleased they beat Atlanta. For me, no season is a total waste when there's a win over Atlanta. I no longer live in the state, but I'm originally from Charlotte. Not Matthews, or Concord or Gastonia. My entire life, Charlotte was always called "Little Atlanta" and it's quite satisfying seeing any Atlanta team lose. ATL stands for All-Time Losers.

They've put in work trying to get a qb, and it's not been what any of us hoped. They will continue to put in work to get a qb. I don't think we have to worry that the same qbs will be here next season and the names are just changed to throw us off. The starting qb next year will not be Damn Sarnold or Faker Mayfield.

Yeah, picking at the top doesn't guarantee anything except first choice. Just look at the draft treasures we have on our roster at qb. 1 and 3 from the same draft. Too bad both are coming up free agents and I guess we are just going to let them walk for nothing in return. Sad.

I would say if the Texans can end their season on a 12 game losing streak, and the Raiders can finish up on an 11 game losing streak, then both those teams deserve higher picks.  We are plenty terrible too. If it makes you feel better Lovie Smith obviously tanked the last Bucs game to ensure they got the Winston prize.

I suppose Al Michaels is being paid enough that it doesn't really bother him that his legendary career twilights down to calling awful games that no one really cares much about, next to a guy that works on Saturday's broadcast, on a streaming service at that. Do you believe in miracles?

I think they have his rights until 25. So it will work out great. Go with Wilks and PJ, draft Maye, and then bring in Payton the following season.

Yeah, I think most everyone just assumed he was out on the golf course. Hired in March as a senior defensive assistant coach after being out for 5 years.

This is pretty true. Most of the time the market for pass rush is either guys getting a little closer to past their primes and might want to chase a championship, or guys that have been good but not great. Since it is a premium position, it kind of makes you wonder why a younger player is even on the FA list. But it is an option to putting together a team.

Of course. There is a business side to the sport as well. 

One thing I would point out, there are certain positions that are considered premium. LT, QB and pass rush. Those are need-to-haves. WR and CB right behind. 

So either we pay the man market value, or we play the market and see what we can draft. Either way it's going to be an expenditure because pass rush is not a luxury. 

I completely understand looking at the trade and thinking why didn't we take it. Maybe it was the wrong decision. At the end of the day though something will have to be spent on the spot, either picks or dollars, since it's a must-have.

The Rams struggles really all get down to the lack of consistent and quality oline play. They don't have great backs, and they don't have a great line in front of them, so they struggle with being 1 dimensional with Kupp. They still have enough that they will be .500ish for the season. 

While the proposed trade sure sounds good, keep in mind that those players would have to be immediately replaced with unproven players, since there are no candidates on the roster to move into those spots and perform at that level. It would represent tearing everything down, which may or may not be necessary for depending on opinion.

Brad Johnson with the Bucs. Fields probably can't be placed at that level just based on being inconsistent. For what it's worth we don't have that either with our whole collection of misfits and unwanteds at QB.

There aren't a whole lot of excuses for Lance. He went to a stable franchise, with a quality staff in place, and got to sit on the sidelines behind an adequate starter instead of being pushed out on the field day 1. He just might be a bust, but he had such a small sample size of college games on the resume that I can see why it may be a shot and a miss for the Niners

There's some speculation that Snyder is unable to land any sort of stadium deal, and that might be a driver in this possible sale. It makes some sense, FedEx Field is an awful game day experience, and Snyder is seen as toxic enough that no one would want to work on helping him with a new building and all the hurdles that would entail.

Richardson is not ready for NFL play. He needs time and experience and work. If he comes out, he will bust on a team that cannot afford to give him the environment he needs.

To the first part of your scenario, pft had a write up about Ryan's contract and how that was the real determiner in benching him for the rest of the year once it was decided he didn't have it anymore.

No sympathy at all for Ryan from me, but the Colts kind of exacerbated any wear and tear going on in the arm immediately with the number of attempts they had him taking per game.

To the second part of your post, if he was signed I would put the Panthers back on boycott similar to the end of the Fox era when we were the dumbest team in the NFL. No games, no merch, no money spent.

There was some talk that Navarro made some good money in the aggressive debt collection business and that the league wasn't so keen on having that background in ownership. As a counterpoint to that, Haslam still owns the Browns after scamming transportation companies for years.

Terrible player. Terrible pick. He was constantly beaten like a drum. Do we really have to revisit anything to do with him?
