Yes, Ridder did look timid, but in that timidness took what we gave him. Don't get me wrong, I think Ridder sucks, but the dink and dunk game can be effective even in it's boring simplicity.
I think their coach, who came from the Titans, has brought over some of the same concepts. Run centric, game manager qb, ball control.

Carson Palmer sat his 1st year. This is rarely done anymore,

It just seems like the fan base in SC is gone. It never was huge down here, but I'm about the only Panthers fan I ever see around this way. Been that way since about 2018-19 maybe.
I'm on the SC coast in Charleston and I've seen similar. I will say that SC fans are far more invested in Clemson-USC, and college football/SEC more than NFL. That said, 1 of the local tv stations here airs the Jags Sunday show, and Panthers and Falcons are both broadcast on the radio. When the team is good, there is more participation and fan presence though.

Of course things change. My favorite Panther team was the 2005 team. That was a Superbowl caliber team. Shut out the Giants on the road in the playoffs. Then beat the doors off the Bears in Chicago. Went to Seattle for the NFC championship game with just Smith and Goings, and Morgan playing with a shoulder harness. Smith was a cheat code that entire season. That team had grit and character and skill.
There have been other years where they have been good, and years where it's so-so, and then some absolute garbage. You don't get excited for the garbage, but this current streak is really getting tiresome.

While he throws a pick.lol
Alternative was let him hold out because there is no way I'm paying him 40+ mil a year when the offense is 60% Saquan Barkley.
I don't disagree. I said he is not worth that contract, but..seems like that's how the market is going these days.

Have the Cowboys made their pants more blue? Or am I just misremembering it? The other colors all appear fine.

Can't believe the Giants volunteered to overpay Daniel Jones. They were bidding against nobody.
Good for Jones but man they could have got him for much cheaper then they did. That guy is making over 40mil a year.lmao
He is not worth that contract at all, but what was the alternative? We've seen 1st hand that market and it is certainly buyer beware.

He’s like the only guy on that LSU offense that ended up being a dud.
And that is why we got him. Black cat.

The TMJ one would have been a TD if he doesn’t slow down
I'm not singling you out, but when are we done with TMJ? When he was drafted everyone had stars in their eyes and "he was going to take someone's job soon."
It's way past time and he is what he is.

The QB and coach seem to be willing to go to battle with these JAGs, so I'd expect 35-40 passes again. Nothing I saw in the preseason made me think this would ever be a running team, and while the success of the run game shocked me big-time, I was frankly (no pun intended) shocked almost as much by the number of run plays.
To your point on the running game, I think our line is a little better at run blocking.

I hated giving up on the run as much as we did. If a guy is getting 6-plus yards per carry, he needs to get more than 9 carries. I wouldn't have guessed Chuba'd be the best player on offense today, but he really was. Young needs to hit on some more of his passes, but his WRs just flat-out cannot get open and, coupled with the GM and coach to an extent, set him up for failure. It's frustrating.
I can't say I'm excited about seeing Lattimore controlling the sky next week, while Jordan and pals make it difficult up front. Maybe we go back to old-leatherhead style and just run run run. Install the wishbone this week.

I think we'll see a few more open guys next week, because NO will blitz more. Then we can get mad at the OL for not protecting Bryce and half the board can get mad at Bryce for missing a WR after throwing a pass while falling down
If there is a strength to Atlanta's defense, it is the secondary. New Orleans is a little more well-rounded, and more experienced, and should present a tougher test.

True but to be fair Matt Stafford had Calvin Johnson. I'd trade all of our wide receivers for Calvin Johnson and UDFAs.
That is why it's not really a fair comparison. Every single one of those stat lines are unique situations. Johnson was part of that 0-16 debacle. I understand the frustration though. It has to get better.

Those are all very nice, but it creates some false equivalences, and some of those stats lack important context, such as Stafford taking that start on a Lions team that went 0-16 the previous season. If you want to compare though, Eli's numbers are comparable, except if you look further, his avg/per was measurably higher.
It was not a good debut. It could've been worse. Let's hope for better.

Wild play for the Packers there
It will be sickening if they have somehow gotten 30-some consecutive years of HOF-worthy qb play.

It’s crazy how every Chargers home game is like a neutral site at best.
Never should have moved them out of San Diego, but money talks. Everyone likes the idea of not giving billionaires money for stadiums, and that's fine and all. Be able to accept the consequences though.

Then next year they’ll tell us again how he’s a shutdown corner when healthy during camp
To be clear I think we all like him and wish he could be on the field. Unfortunately he can't and is giving the team absolutely nothing.

The diehard Bears fan I know tried to sell me on them being 8-2 going into that Detroit matchup. I laughed in his face.

If it is hamstring, would not be shocked with an announcement tomorrow about IR designated to return.

Lot of long faces on that Bears sideline when they just panned by, but really, they've got 2 high 1st round picks coming next daft to look forward to. That should put a smile on their faces.

I said 6 wins at the end of preseason. I'm good. We get 3 wins out of the division, and 3 other wins. We are fortunate to be playing the AFC South this season. The flaws and shortcomings on this team are predominantly hard-wired. That means they aren't going to get magically better, and will be difficulties and obstacles all season.
-
Not a good stat line no matter how you look at it. That average/per is just downright terrible.

Henderson vs those Dolphin receivers is not an appealing matchup at all.
