  1. .They could maybe make a go of it with a 6 team league or so. A smaller version of NFL Europe. It wouldn't be easy though, as evident from the continuous failures that alternative leagues here have experienced. Ideally they would be able to use homegrown talent, but there is not enough. So there is the problem, teams are made up of has beens and never weres, and once the initial novelty wears off it's just poor quality sport with teams that have funny uniforms and odd names.
  2. It is a long season. It's a marathon not a sprint. The troubling part is we are already sucking wind and have our hands on our knees. Except for Baker, but that's just because he is short and you can't really tell at a glance.
  3. Next week's game should be must not watch tv.
  4. I am a little surprised that Wilson has looked so awful early on. I expected better. Matty Nice has been declining for a while now. Maybe he will poop in his football pants again.
  5. 12 seems like a good number for us to hit before w start getting tired with all the excitement.
  6. It could've been much worse. Her costume could highlight tobacco, cigarettes and COPD.
  7. The Foster run. Can't help but get you a little fired up, and in the feels a bit when compared to the present state.
  8. Well. Oh hey..did you know that teams lose because they don't know why they lose? If only we, as a team, could figure out why we are losing. What exactly is holding us back, from being just good, to being great? It's a real mystery it seems.
  9. Sounds like Rich Kotite will no longer be the answer to the worst coach ever question.
  10. 2002 season. Combined 71-0 for the season. 30-0 at Atlanta, a month later 41-0 at home. Bad times.
  11. That sounds about right. We were swept that year 77-0. When people want to talk about hated rivals, any other team, they have forgotten that embarrassment. That said, my vote was for the Bucs, for similar reasons mentioned already. I think that's when the bottom falls out.
  12. It's good old fashioned hubris. Or arrogance, or a combination. I sort of think that at this point in his life he feels as though he's made billions on making clever and shrewd decisions, so he has a gut feel or an eye for making the right call. He missed this one though, badly, and maybe it's a shock to the system, or thinking he can't possibly be wrong in his judgement here nd it all just needs a little more time to come to together. Rhule isn't winning a Superbowl with this team, not this year, not next year, not ever. So what exactly is he here for then?
  13. The problem with keeping him here is if the record is bad enough, I mean we are talking a couple of wins bad, less than his usual output of 5 wins, how in the world does Tepper sell keeping him to the fanbase? At that point not only is Rhule still here, so far over his head that he is drowning, what does that say about the ability of the organization to attract players, coaches, as well as how much does Tepper even care? It would be a PR disaster.
  14. Rams are a good choice. They have enough on both sides of the ball to control the game the whole way. Maybe they play down to their competition though a bit? I just hope it's not Atlanta. Anyone but Atlanta. I mean they already owned us 1 season 77-0. No mas.
  15. I felt 2 or 3 wins was the most likely outcome this season. Seattle, Atlanta, Pittsburgh or Detroit are the best chances for wins. Seattle, late in the season, at their place will be a bit difficult. Especially if the team has quit. Atlanta is not good either. It remains the best chance for a win I think. Pittsburgh in theory can run the ball. It will be interesting to see how the Pickett era might play out this year if he is indeed the starter going forward. I think that Detroit is a good bit better than us. Not sure we could keep up with them. Bucs and Saints remain possibilities. We may get a worthless win against the Bucs JV squad at the end of the season.
  16. Arizona State would fit the role of underdog needing a turnaround to be competitive. That should be appealing to both sides. I would kind of wonder if ASU officials would be hesitant based on his current deal here. He would have to be available I would think. He needs to go back to college. He is not cut out for the NFL.
  17. It's beyond time. But it could get worse. I mean we haven't started a qb signed right off the street earlier that week yet. Rhule hasn't become a gum-chomping, hand clapping buffoon on the sidelines yet. He hasn't talked about missed opportunities every presser. He hasn't told the media to go ask the personnel department yet. We can still go lower and lower.
  18. That was the rumor of what halftime was in that last Fox year. Maybe we have gotten to that point again.
  19. Why would the Saints give us the friends and family price for Payton? Instead they would bring out a barrel and ask us nicely to assume the position. The price for Gruden to Tampa was 2 firsts. That has to be the starting point you would think for any Payton deal. The Saints would absolutely love to cripple us in exchange for Payton. And no thanks on Quinn. Fine DC, but we saw enough of him in Atlanta and should be well aware of what he brings. I'd have to hope we could do better.
  20. I think the oline is certainly not as dominant and overwhelming as previous editions. LT has taken a step down, and that's probably reflected in your statement about pass protection. The rookie went down in preseason and Hurst, if that is who ended up at the position, is not Armstead, but overall the line is still good and the interior is strong. You underestimate the ineptitude and toothlessness of our team at the moment. Thanks for being kind, but as the stat revealed last week, we are 1-25 when allowing a team 17 points. Most NFL teams can score more than 17 points.
  21. Kamara not playing would be a disadvantage for the Saints. Winston's injuries are no an ideal situation either. Their defense is still very very stout, their oline is not shabby at all, and they still have Ingram in the backfield, Thomas waiting to catch 15 slants on 17 targets for something absurd like 150 yards. In other words they are still extremely capable of dinking and dunking and power running their way up and down the field to victory.
  22. You might be right. I can't recall if it was 2 years since that was the balance of his contract. Either way, I don't like the idea of giving them 2 firsts if that's what the expectations are to get it done.
  23. Gruden to Tampa is the only real comparison. Two first round picks. Not sure what, if anything else was involved, but the top of the deal was the first round picks. One was not good enough. Handing over that kind of capital, to a division rival no less, seems to be a very dumb move.
  24. The team has no identity. The 1st Rhule year they tapped into a little of that scrappy underdog that would be difficult to deal with, and was not an easy win on the schedule. They showed some promise. It never came to fruition though, and now we are looking at a perennial loser that bumbles and stumbles though games. Unfortunately its time to face the facts, we are that perennial loser, working on 4 straight seasons of 5 wins or less, and that makes us the Jets of the NFC. So that can be our identity now. It fits.
  25. Brandon Staley as well on that list I think. He has a roster capable of making noise in the playoffs and he just seems to do foolery most of the game.
