I do still like Canales, but god he's gotta learn. That O-line is doin work and Chuba grinds the defense down. We're not good enough to just pass all day. Our Defense FINALLY doing something, best thing we can do is keep them fresh by running the ball down their throat.

Bryce actually looked pretty alright there. still its in scripted time, so itll be interesting to see how things go on these next few drives.

What would a successful game for Young look like?
Carolina Cajun replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
200 yards, 1-2 tds, no interceptions. That would be impressive considering how good that Denver defense is. -
absolutely, but hes running the reciever style TE, and he's improving. I think his hands are improving, he needs to work on blocking, but for a rookie he's pretty darn good so far...better than weve seen from a rookie TE maybe ever.

so. much. cake....

either Take Travis hunter or trade back, Get some retread qb in FA, and just build the roster. Theres no other real way around it, even if we take a early QB, they will ALL fail here, this roster is in no way in position for a rookie QB to succeed, so stop trying to square peg the round hole.
-
Kind of where I'm at too. I mean, even if we hit on QB in the draft, we're like 2-3 DLine (aside D Brown) 2 LBs, 2 Safeties, a Tight end, and probably another WR away from being competitive. IMO, just roll retread QB's until we shore up the rest of this roster, theres no possible plug and play rookie QB that wont fail here, period so instead of reaching in the draft, accrue talent.

I know we've talked about Rookies that we could possibly draft, and honestly besides Cam Ward, I dont see anyone I'm really sold on. Thinking outside the box got me wondering what about Kyle Trask. He was a 2nd round pick, and IN THEORY he has developed the way you want a young QB to develop, on the bench watching pro bowl QBs and one being the GOAT while being in that QB room and learning. The other part is he played under Dave Canales, so theres a familiarity with his system. Just thinking outside the box for after this season, since theres not much to really talk about here and now. FWIW I wouldnt just bring him in without actual competition, but being brought in with a legit chance to start I think would be something he might be interested in.

Good suggestion...best we can offer is trade this and next years first rounder to get Deshaun Watson while we dont resign Deonte Johnson or Chuba and draft another 2nd round WR who busts.
-
Many of the players quit on the fans and city years ago. I dont remember the last time it felt like the team took pride in their work aside from just accruing stats so they can get a deal in the offseason.

"Luvu is having a breakout season"...dude...he broke out like a year or 2 ago, dude was the most dominant defender on the panthers last year, he was a standout then, your just noticing him now because hes not losing.
-
I ironically wore a Bryce jersey today....I think I may have pissed off the panther gods.

what is that thing that happened? are we allowed to tackle a QB behind the LOS?
-
jesus, just put in bryce. who the fug cares.
-
WE DID A STOPPING!...kinda...after they almost got a TD....
-
Exactly, if just throwing it away, go at his feet, but that kind of full bore chuck at a RB right there is inexcusable.
-
Because I think they hope to actually resign him and I think it kind of makes sense for him as well. He wants to be the undisputed alpha in the receiver room, and here in carolina its pretty obvious we'll give him that reign, many other places, hes splitting the role with other alpha type personalities. Unlike hubbard, he is playing a position that does get highly paid in the NFL, so IMO, we lock him up this offseason and chuba walks (or my preference is we trade him to dallas or another RB needy team).
-
Frankly, it makes sense. IMO, even though it was one drive 2 games back, Bryce looked more decisive and less of a poo show than he did in in the first 2 games. IMO, bryce is done and is a bust, BUT, part of his benching was to sit back and see how a veteran operates week to week in the NFL. IMO, prior to this, sadly we need to get Bryce some game reps. IMO, I'd develop some packages and literally give him 1-2 full drives per game to see if he can do anything. Dalton still starts (so our offensive guys can get their numbers for the offseason since presumably thats what they need), but Bryce gets his reps and see if theres even a glimmer of hope for him.

Honestly, just had a random thought, Chuba playing extremely well in the final year of his rookie contract...if Brooks does come back and we have the ability to, could we move Chuba to like Dallas for a decent pick? It really would bum be out, I love Chuba, but imo, it depends on what the front office has planned in the offseason, if they're gonna work on a deal with hubbard, cool, if not (which I think is their intention), then he 100% has value to someone like dallas who swears their in their win now window but has no running game.
-
Honestly, might as well treat this like an extended preseason and experiment. I'd do something wonky and do some kind of 2 QB system, maybe Andy starts the games, Bryce gets 2nd half or maybe something I think would be interesting, each QB getting every other game. Bryce has 2 weeks to prep for whoever his opponent is, and on his offweek, he can watch and continue to learn how a veteran prepares for a game. If it doesnt work, who TF cares, our season is already toast.

Hey, we've actually been playing...alright...ish on defense compared to what weve shown in other games this season. We had a 3 and out on the first drive and a turnover that should have also been a 3 and out but the magic bouncing ball extended that drive. -

big play on defense right there, jackson and horn are a good 1-2 on the outside, just need more up front for the defense to be much -

they all did, coker is looking like an absolute steal for a UDFA as a reliable route runner, Sanders used his hands, and so did Legette, you can see they are both working to improve that aspect of their game and you love to see it. -

This drive made my willie happy. Coker 2 catches, Sanders big catch, and Legette with the TD. MAYBE we have a future.
